  1. Bush did some huge tax cuts some years ago. Has that helped out at all?? Lower taxes for the majority of people mean that the majority of people can spend a little more money and increase business across the board. The pie is going to stay the same but seem smaller because of the ever increasing population of the human race. The government already cuts up those peices for it's citizens. Actually the pie you refer to is a lie. As I said, governments by nature are socialistic in many ways. The government decides how your taxes get reditributed for things like health care, transportation infrastructure, jails. And this big bail out package that the banks received is going to be payed by your taxes and your children's taxes. The bail out package is one of the largest examples of socialism I have ever seen in the US's pedestal . Not to mention socialising/nationalizing a couple major banks. I had seen quite a bit of bashing of Hugo Chavez when he nationalized the country's oil industry. And to most US citizens, it was a bad move, and a bad move towards socialism. Well, since you say Canada is a socialistic country, why have we not tanked like all other socialistic societies?? Why are we still alive? If you wanted a totaly free enterprise economy, disband the government. Let capitolism be free. We don't need any more regulations on things like that now do we?
  2. But Foxnews is the only one claiming to be "fair and balanced'.
  3. Angus, I knew Steam would be a huge player in digital distrobution. Their stuff just works, and works well. Their netcode is among the best out there and connecting to Steam is rarely an issue. I had to redownload TF2 on my spare system at my pals place. 7.6 GB in less than 40 mins. He has 18 down and 2 up ... it was incredible. A bunch of us have been lanning for years now. And we still get together and do it weekly. We even had to make a clan for TF2. SGC is the name of the clan. We go onto a good server and got into that community by playing alot on their server and kicking it on the forums for that clan (ODR66). We had one match with ODR66, a fun match. We played a certain style that the ODR66 guys were ahearing do. CIVO matches I think. Anyways, we had the full 7, they had 4. SGC got trashed heavily. We just could not get organized enough to make a come back. Also we played on a map that I have only been on a handfull of times. http://order66.xtremecybergames.com/forums/ http://odr66.hlstatsx.com/?mode=claninfo&clan=778 Crap. we were seconds to ODR, now we are 4th .. lol And for the most part I understand why people get into WoW. So they can recreate themselves and become someone else. Role playing, fantasy, larping online . I got a few coworkers and friends who try to get me into it, I always decline, even when one offered to pay for a couple months of access. How are you with RTSs?? That is my fave genre of any PC/console gaming. Huge die hard fan of the Homeworld series. The Complex mod for that game took it to a whole new level. Company of Heros is a fantastic RTS. I really can't do WWII based games anymore, I think that has been done to death, but CoH is such a polished game (graphics and gameplay) that it is easliy overlooked. I am also a fan of the whole Command and Conquer series .. Red Alert III is droppin real soon.
  4. As I stated, some practicies of some cultures are invalid, that does not invalidate the culture as a whole. There are some practicies of modernized religions that I do not agree with, but since I am not part of that religion I go with 'to each their own'. I am agnostic/athiest, so I find most organized religions invalid. Bad comparison. You are better equating the pastors/preachers with those who eat the hearts of sacraficial victims. They are the ones who perpetuate the practice. The victim(s) in both cases is the rest of the 'congregation'. Not even all christians have the same modern morals that you talk about. Even among modern western cultures, there are things about them that people will find invalid. Respect is something that should be given outright untill it proves that it does not deserve respect. Hcheh I agree with this 100%. We can try to educate them, but in the end, they will make up their own minds regarding conversion to another culture, or adopting new practices, or dicthing the antiquated ones.
  5. Communism has socialistic aspects to it. But saying they are the same is just plain ignorant. Hell even McCain supports this. One interview done some years ago showed him saying that people who are well off should be able to help out more. A tax cut/break is not socialism as Liam points out. If that is the case, then yes Bush Jr. is a socialist with the tax cuts he wanted to make permanent. Not to mention the recent socialising errrr nationalizing of a few majopr banks. Governments by nature (to me anyways) are socialistic in some apects. They take your tax money and distribute it as they see fit. No one complains about this. Obama wants to make health care available to all. If everyone gets the health care they need, it can be called socialism, but also is just smart. Healthy people are happy and productive people. McCain http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8041403056.html McCain says he wants to give every family a 5000 tax credit/rebate to help out with the cost of healthcare. Is this a one time thing? Or will he make it a yearly thing? http://pressedforpolitics.wordpress.com/20...how-patriotism/ http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/mc...iness_bunk.html This part I find interesting
  6. About as valid as Christianity was based on the sacrafice of Jesus who was mutilated on a cross. Some cultures just take longer to evolve. It is also linked to education and having an open mind. To those cultures, the practices are valid. It is parts of the culture I do not agree with or think should be valid. But that should not invalidate the culture as a whole. Praying to a false god should not be part of cultures, but it is. I consider this mental mutilation.
  7. I for one, cannot do MMOs. I really just cannot do RPGs in general. I had Guild Wars (buy the game and expansion but free to play) and played it for a short time. I have not gotten into World of Warcraft at all. I get people asking me to join all the time, but I cannot dedicate that much time to grinding/leveling a character up. Not only that, it is the cost. Blizzard created World of Warcraft. You buy the game, and pay a monthly fee. I admit it is a freakin cash cow. 10 million monthly subscribers worldwide pay 15 bucks a month to play. I am astounded at their numbers, and well, they have earned it all. There is plenty of room for more MMOs. Good ones too. A good Star Trek MMO will be very popular. Hellgate London's servers are getting shut down next year. So that one is a dead end. Numbers for Everquest and others are on the decline. I have tried EVE Online. I loved the sci-fi aspect of it, but again, I loose interest fast when I have to level up all the time. Free to get the game, but there is a montly fee. http://www.mmogchart.com/charts/ Has some great information on MMOs, player numbers, and market share. Across the board WoW takes it all. However there is other online gaming besides MMOs. My and a bunch have gotten onto TeamFortress2. For those who like FPSs, Quake Live is going to happen soon. Free to play and it will launch through your browser. I think it is going to be based on the Quake III game/engine. It is a growing industry and will continue to grow. Games like WoW I expect them to double their subscribers in the next couple years.
  8. Hmm how much of a leftie am I. The ones that I agree with are. 3. I do believe that all cultures are equally valid. 4. Iraq sure was not about freedom. But I am just an idiot. 5 . Taking a country to war should never be an easy decision. Avoid war whenever possible. 7. Yeah, inside job. I am actually in this camp, but we are sooooo left, we need tinfoil to stand out in that crowd. 10. I will support the troops when I do not support the war. It's kind of related to your first question in the way of understanding the difference.
  9. Hey look at that, your thread title changed. That is now reflecting the real story. Looks like they got nabbed through a pic or two on Facebook/myspace.
  10. Here is the whole article Two lines. And all from the AP. Awesome reporting. Looks like investigative reporting at it's best. So your title is missleading. It should be Skinhead Party with plot to kill Obama has been broken up.
  11. If you were interested in posting facts you would have at least done a basic search on the Internet. This could have saved time and effort among all of us. Can one even run for President if they are not a US Citizen? I mean, don't they have to provide proof of citizenship before they can even run for Pres? http://www.answerbag.com/articles/How-to-B...3b-4d5368295c4c You need those items checked out and verified first before you can even run for Pres. So Obama would have had that all checked out sometime last year. Same for McCain, he would have had it all verified before he ran in 2004. According to all documents, both Obama and McCain are natural born citizens of the US. Eventhough both were born outside mainland USA.
  12. Capricorn, you bring up some interesting points. I agree with you on many of those points. That parent zone for the Alberta page is impressive. I guess in hindsight that these informational pages should exist. It is a one stop shop for parents that want to be in the know when it comes to the Internet. Most kids are smarted than the parents when it comes to the Internet now. I guess I am a lucky one, I plan to always know more than my kids (when they come into the picture), and being in the IT industry for a few years, that has helped as well. I can only imagine what the net will be like in another 5 to 10 years. I think people are more aware of problems that arise online. Education and awareness will be an important key to keep kids and people safe online. I can't stomach the gruesome sites like Ogrish and the like. So I never go to those sites. But I guess they do server a purpose. They are not sugar coating death.I used to be one that advocates no censorship online. But I am starting to lean in the direction of limited censorship. I guess I am still on the fence with all this.
  13. So Clinton did not do his job with informing the future pres? They are cut from the same cloth however. But if you want to play the blame game, it falls on Bush Sr then. One more?? Are you sure?? That list is pretty long.
  14. Clinton gave the information to Bush about Al-queda/Bin Laden and the possibility of attacks in the US or on US interests. Bush obviously did not think it was that important. And if you want to talk about Iraq, Bush Sr. have left it to Clinton ... The DPRK is off the terror list now.
  15. I don't give to charity. Not to mention it might work different in the US compared to Canada, hence the reason I asked the question. American Woman gave me the right information.
  16. Nope. He was born in Hawaii. Why not check it out for yourself.
  17. He was born in Hawaii. It is not Mainland USA, but still part of the US. It's about as natural as they come. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama Born in Hawaii Aug, 1964.
  18. We have known China censors much of the Internet. Through proxies and firewalls, and content filters, China can controll almost all of the information going in and out of the country. Most of us in democratic free countries see this as a bad thing. China blanket censors much. All communication is monitored and controlled by the State. It also allows China to promote the view of the world that China's leaders want to portray. It also allows them to control information going out so they can portray another face to the rest of the world. None of us want to see censorship on the Internet in the way that it will limit the content you can access online. When censorship happens, it is someone else who gets to decide what material you can view online. Australia is the first democratic country to introduce a national firewall. It will prevent users from accessing some pornographic material which everywhere else in the western like countries is acceptable. X rated material is illegal there, and this does I guess fall into the line of 'contraban'. So I don't know, kind of split on it I guess. It is a nickle and dime thing happening to the Internet as a whole. First one thing is blocked, then another, then more. And it really is not that hard to control all this information. It is also very easy to monitor all this information. I agree that there is some content online that just should not exist anywhere, like exploiting children through pornography, sites that depict gruesome mutilations or death. It is also easy to get around the firewalls and other security measures if you are good enough. If a site gets blocked, it can move, and be up again in a day or two. I have had the pleasure and fear of watching this Internet grow for the past 15 years. I knew it was going to revolutionize our world. So, if you would like some censorship, what can we ban/eliminate to improve our experience as a whole with the Internet and make it a better place for all. What can we filter out? What do we censor? Here is my list. SPAM EMAILS !!! ... This alone will improve the Internet about a thousand times. Child porn, exploitation is just wrong anywhere to anyone. Now if you wanna talk sites in particular, myspace and facebook come to mind lol
  19. We won't ever get a Ron Paul, our current system will see to that.
  20. So, what is in a name? His past is available to read online. If you are not lazy and close minded to at least search for it. However, Obama is a Christian. His mother was a white american woman who was athiest. Obama the Muslim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQqIpdBOg6I A public school in Indonessia. The whole place is predominantly Muslim. Do you know why? It was bad legislation he would not vote on. Makes sense to me. Voting Record. It was a volunteer site. Not part of the official campaing. You cannot control volunteer sites. It is not a required. Not mandatory. I doubt you put your hand over your heart when singing your national anthem. I know I don't. Also, it is only required to put the hand over the heart when you "Pledge your allegence to the flag" For the first time in her adult life. She may not have been happy with what America was in the past few years. Not many are. But it would indicate as a child she was happy with American. But in her adult life, you learn more about the world and your view starts to change. He might be a nutjob, but most pastors/preachers/ tv evangelicals are. But it is all in context that they all speak. Hey you noticed North Korea was taken off the Axis of Evil terror list? But since they are not muslims, you don't really see them as a threat I guess. The only way you know your enemy is by getting to know them. The smart thing on anyone is to know the enemy before you bomb them. We have proven that not knowing the enemy is dangerous.
  21. I'd like to see Ron Paul run again. He might make more progress next time, considering he predicted this whole finnancial crisis long time ago. I can see Hillary Clinton making another run for it. But she will end up being VP to someone else.
  22. Hey troller, you posted this same crap in several threads now. Do you have more of a point? We already are aware of his name. Try something else that has already been debunked moths ago as a non starter issue.
  23. Mr. Canada... I put in replies that take down some of the points in your video. Do you want to address that or just keep up the drive-by-postings. Once we discuss those already debunked articles, (like debunked during the debates for the Dem nod. Then we can close this thread.
  24. It could be. I have never been to a sermon, or really church for that matter. But I will tell you that there are some really hateful 'preachers' out there. Black, white, yellow, red, green .ect ect ... I disagree with you here. People over 15 can accept that as well. lololol ...'His name alone has created major divisions in the pilitical landscape.' Have another drink Kennedy. Here is a few videos that debunk most of your hacked up video. The Only FACT in this vidoe is the first one. His father was from Kenya and a muslim, marries a while American woman. Obama and the Madrassa He did go to a school that was predominantly Muslim. When he was 6. Also, they show the school and the students, it is a public school. And wow, a mostly muslim school in Indonesia?? Who would have thought that now!. Obama the Muslim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQqIpdBOg6I Obama and Gadaffi Lybia is off the terror list now. So I guess this is another deal road. Not that there were any ties between them anyways. Voting Record. full clip starts at about 4mins. Obama indicates he would not vote for flawed/bad legislation. Pastor Wright, Most pastors are nutjobs, tv evangelical ect ect .... Don Imus. The nappy heads thing was stupid on his part, but really insignificant. And if America IS killing innocent people, then yes God Damn America. Sure throw Canada, the UK, Russian, China, ect in there as well. What I find about most hack job videos like this, even campaign ads are total distractions from real issues that need to be dealt with. If you are looking for real leadership, you won'd find it in either candidate.
  25. Can you not claim donations to charity on your taxes? Don't you get most of that back anyways?
