  1. I see this often. People in TF2 sometimes grief about spawn camping. Which most of us agree it is a legit tactic in this game. Because it is all defence/offence, this makes it a very legit and effective tactic. One hilarious thing about ODR66 the server we play on, is that a few of the ODR66 guys are in Quebec and have the heavy french accent. Some players from the US get on and say 'learn to speak english idiots!' ... that is never good to bitch at the people who actually run the server. Last night the rounds were frantic, fast and intense. I have never seen rounds go that fast before. Like under 5 minutes to capture both points on the map. I actually did pretty good last night with Medic, when I usually take Heavy. Yeah, I would wear the MLW clan tag
  2. Alright Dead Space is a bitch. The game looks and feels pretty. Characters are interesting, runs like hot melted butter. But I cannot get around 3rd person view, and I cannot customize the controls to designate foward with a mouse button. I gave it a good shot, but I keep running into walls and in tight corridors I can barely move. In 3rd person the character is in my way more than anything. UGH. I really want to love this game. I love creepy scary games. I will try this with a game pad, which I lack right now. Assasin's Creed - Pretty, runs like butter, 3rd person again, but the character is non instrusive to the gameplay. Not really one for the time settings (midevel times) but it is stunning. Come on guys, get into TeamFortress 2. Could start our own MLW clan. Our taunts will be taunts about the player's political leader. It is sad to say that the community server we play on will be closing down soon. Our clan SGC donates now and then to them so we can keep the server alive. We have played on a few servers, but this one has a great community feel to it. What I am still waiting for is a good MMO for Star Trek. It had been in developement, but the studio had problems, and the game did not get picked up by anyone until recently. I am hoping this one goes where no WoW'er has gone before. Speaking of WoW, they recently surpased 11 million monthly susbcribers. Insanely amazing.
  3. Methinks the tinfoil will be on the other head now.
  4. Kind of late to this thread .. wow over 20 pages now. This has more to do with weather and cycle of planting and harvesting than anything else. This is why most of us live in that 100 mile range. The other thing is that most of these places were settled before Canada was even a country. Drea Technology today allows you to be anywhere on the planet and get cell service. Satellite communications. Rue Your Romero referencfe does not work. His first movie was in the 60s. Or was it before that. So he could not base it on that I found out a week too late. I could have been a zombie extra on Romero's new movie. He is the filming in Ontario. Actually I think the last remake of a Romero movie was based in a mall. It was in Toronto or Montreal. On the table was a bucket of PFK White Doors Who do you hear more about terrorism from? Al-queda, or your current administration? Moderate American Is that not socialism?? American Woman BC-2004 I am speechless for once. I will say BC, that this is the best post you have done to explain your actions and posts without comming across as a total ass. I had to look twice to make sure it was your post. You may change my view on you yet!! This thread shows disrespect on both sides of the border. Maybe the question is, "why can't we all just get along?"
  5. I spent most of my time in front of a computer. So I read some of those newspapers online. You gotta choose what to read and watch. There is so much out there, that it is quite an effort to sift through it to get the big picture you are looking for. But you are correct, I should read more of the newspaper types.
  6. As I said, neither is right. So here in the wester world, I do agree that child porn should remain illegal. Hope that clears things up for you. We don't jail dessenters in the US or Canada. But we are not China, they have their own rules. Again, does it make it right? No, but again, it is the reality of it. Here let me quote myself
  7. Yes there is a difference. I am not saying either is right, but if change is going to happen to China, it will come from within. Any company that wants to do business in China will have to abide by their rules. It is as simple as that. Is it right? Maybe not. But that is the reality of it. Being realistic is not the same as being apologetic. Ok, there are a few left. But for the most part I am correct. MSM is like CNN, Fox, CBC, CTV... if you want to get to the real stuff, you hit the shows that are not popular but are in depth. And because of our ADD society, after a couple minutes of in depth analysis most people will just shut their ears off. My post is not an apology, but reflects the reality of how this Internet technology is monitored.
  8. To think it is not being used in the same capacity in the so called 'civilized world' is naieve as well. If you want to play in China, you have to (unfortunately) go with their rules. And it is not Google or Yahoo that will be bustiung you. It is the ISPs with their monitoring tools that will nail you. Western main stream media is also censored for the most part. There are no investigative journalists working for MSM anymore. They have moved to blogs and stuff like that. For example, the AT&T secret room. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060412-6585.html http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2006/04/70619 It seems in China they are telling you they are doing it up front. And for what it is worth, the rest of the so called civilized world, it is done secretively. What would you be more scared of?
  9. I had the notion that McCain was going to win anyways. So, eventhough I supported and wanted Obama to win, I was wrong to think that McCain was going to win. And yes it is too much to ask for. Many don't like the taste of humble pie. Congrats to Obama and Biden. Time for talk is over, action is what is needed now.
  10. Governments like to keep secrets and really don't tell you what you really want to know. This is why politicians speak with soundbytes for the masses to consume. Little substance. Could also be that we have already reached the destination, so there is no need to inform anyone. That withholding of information is how tyranny starts. All governments are guilty of this. And they do this to sustain any image they want. No country is immune from it.
  11. But it is kind of sad to note that this is the first time you noticed it. Election fraud is nothing new, both the Dems and the Reps have partaken in it.
  12. How did socialism fail in Canada? Might be to counter-act the past 8 years of right wing drift.
  13. You would even be more ticked off when you find out how the 2000/2004 elections were won.
  14. Glad to see even some in the GOP wear tinfoil hats.
  15. Sounds like you are talkin about Sarah Palin, not Obama.
  16. Most religions are based on some 'law', weather it is religious law, or civil law, or a combination of both. Granted some religions seem more avdanced in organization than others. Australia? Or Austria? I guess the rest of them did not want the Jews around either, or else Europe would have gladly handed over a part of the land for them. So they put them in the worst spot ever. Is this the reason the US defends Israel to what it seems like the bitter end? Is it because the US/Europe/Canad put the Jews in the Middle East? Is it the mentality of 'defending a mistake'? Or 'we messed up in the first place, but we will do what it takes to correct the situation? People are told to face their demons. To me this seems like running away from a traumatic incident when facing it head on is needed in order to get over and past the incidents. Running away from the problems never solved anything in the past. Why was it such a good idea to create Israe, jsut so they can have a 'safe' homeland. They have been anything BUT safe since Israel was created. No, but you sure don't need to go anywhere else to 'live'. That depends on your strength in your faith. I am definately not an anti-semite.
  17. No one can be clear on the funding. Judging by the recent financial crisis, and where all THAT mony came from, no matter who it is in office, Obama or McCain will have a tough time getting money for the projects they think are the most important. Both will have to raise taxes in some ways. Two wars plus a financial crisis can really put the country in a bind. We clearly saw that unfold right before our eyes. If we can bail out the banks, why can't we bail out everyone? Mr. Canada Althought Communism has aspects of socialism in it, you still cannot equate socialism to communism. So poor Lenin is left on the sidelines for this conversation.
  18. From what I understand of our Canadian military, is that we simply do not have the manpower to arm and man a single aircraft carrier. Even of a small or medium size. The largest carriers in the US's fleet can have more than 10,000 crew on board. So I doubt we would have the manpower for an entire navy battle group. It is simply a matter of numbers here. I like the V-22s, they are a pretty neat craft. But it has had its failures, but after about 15-20 years of tweaking and redesigning, they may have worked out all the kinks in them.
  19. Why not, how about a chunk of Ontario, or maybe a US state, or Europe .... But if you are going to relocate them, what do you expect the end result to be?
  20. Jews would have been screwed either way. Take a part of Germany to create the jewish state. Western societies would show an increase in anti-semitism towards jews. Now that they are in the middle east, you have a whole new load of people becoming anti-semites. But the question is why people are anti-semetic towards the jewish population as a whole. Personaly, and I will say this again, I do not support or recognize Isreal. I don't beleive it is needed. The jews do not need their own spot on the map. And it was not the locals in the middle east who had a vote or any kind of say when Isreal was created. The stance I take on Isreal is that if you are going to create your home in the hostile wilderness that is the middle east, don't expect the locals to like you, expect them to hurt you. So playing the victim falls on my deaf ears because of how the state was created in the first place. Many look over this and say it is a stupid point. But it is completely valid and can help unserstand why Isreal is always on guard or on the attack. So essentially whoever created Isreal brought this new suffereing onto the jews. it is not the locals fault, they already hate jews, someone just gave them a closer target. I know jews are drawn to Isreal, and many move there to become part of Isreal. But you gotta ask yourself. Why move to a place where you know you are going to always be a target? Why do that to yourself? For example. if a jewish family from the UK, the US or Canada moves to Isreal to become part of it, they should expect the consequences. Chances are that stuff won't happen to them in places like Canada, the US or the UK, or even Germany now for that matter. So how about this thought. What the jews are doing to the Palestinians, the Germans had previously done to the jews (if you can accept this comparison for this purpose). Take their land, means of living, ect ect and systematicly dispose/displace them. The state of Isreal is larger than what was allocated to them by the mandate. And the borders of Isreal are not yet 100% defined. Why is that? I do not see this as fair. It does not give a reason for the jews to be exansionist in this aspect. We can talk all we want about the adjacent countries attacking Isreal, but I equate it to throwing a piece of meat to the wolves. it's gonna get eaten. I am not anti-semetic. I have jewish friends. I actually think the religion is interesting (based on my utter lack of knowledge on any religion) but I do not support Isreal. What happend to the jews during the holocaust is unacceptable no matter how it is looked at. But does that give them the right to do what they are doing now? I am being as honsest as I can here.
  21. Maybe you want to send that question in to the people who made the site, or do a google search. I just wanted to answer your question about "tweety'. But I don't know, what DOES make him a center-right host? http://mediamatters.org/items/200603080005 So he is for sure on the right.
  22. Well, us lefties thought we would try a righty tactic. Post things that detract from the topic. And if you think journalism died this year, you have clearly not been paying attention. Journalism and investigative reporting died a couple decades ago. Shady Actually, you are correct it was Bill O'Reilly that had intervied Obama. And as for CNN, you can trust them to be a certain way all the time. I watch CNN along with many other news sources. Tweety is a nickname for him , but it was not leftwing nutroots who gave him the name. http://www.dkosopedia.com/wiki/Chris_Matthews
  23. Angusthermoplye The first time I was introduced to Homeworld was about 8 years ago. At a pals place, drunk/stoned ect .. so the gang told me we were gonna try a new game (well new to me). Once I hit the space bar to pan out to sensor range.. my mind was blown. Hooked from that moment on. Such a beautiful game. Also, I think HW1 was the only game that actually brought a tear to my eye "Karahk, all gone" The single player campaign was really tough as well. I had an easier time taking on a hard AI in a skirmish. I recently bought CIV 4 and the expansions. You have to commit a few hours to that game. Like a nice lazy sunday afternoon with a cold one in hand. Recent incredible FPSs Timeshift - Running through this a second time, and I am having more fun than teh first run through. Creepy scary games. FEAR (oh and FEAR 2 is gonna drop next year) Condemned 1 and 2 (have not played 2 yet). Doom III I really liked the Dawn of War series, and DoW2 will be incredible. More real time tactical play. I could not get into Supreme Commander. I guess I did not stiuck with it enough, but even on my good rig the performance is brutal. Gameplay is pretty tough as well as a one on one. But coop play with sides is better, one can concentrate on attack strategy, tyhe other can micromanage the base and production. That is a really good aspect to the game. Tonight, I think I am going out to pick up Dead Space. If it creeps me out, thumbs way up.
  24. I call it socialism, but others may not. But I doubt we will hear that from most of the posters here that for all intents and purposes, are on the right.
  25. Nope it is not a joke. Fox news is anything BUT fair and balanced. I have seen how the interviews go with Obama, he was treated pretty hostile by Hannity, but yet Hannity treated Palin with kid gloves. So does that seem fair and balanced to you? They would have been equally hard on all of them during the interviews if that was the case. There is no objectivity in main stream media today. You are better off to get some good information and fact checking through the many news blogs out there. I like Crooks and Liars for the most part. It can be considered a left outlet... hmm so I guess there is much bias everywhere. And it is a damn pain in the ass to sift through all the garbage to get to the important stuff. It is glamour and show, without substance 90% of the time. Hell, even Tweety (Chris Mathews) can be objective once in a while and call out the garbage from the right when he sees it. Jerry I guess you have not been paying attention since the campaigning started. And if Obama has not been scrutinized, then neither has McCain, Palin, or Biden.
