  1. This might surprise you , but the river class Frigates are using massive amounts of US equipment...like spy 6 , VLS systems, and much more if we reject the F-35 do you really think Trump will not retaliate, and decide we can't use any more US tech....or provide any more spares for existing US tech and weapons systems we use right now....The cost to convert all our military to non US parts and equipment would cost us Billions upon bils... It is not what you or i think, it is what Trump perceives what is going on...He has a huge ego, which is easily bruised...Like my mother always said if you don't have anything good to say don't say nothing at all...cowering got us to the table and while there we told them what we wanted....instead of listening to what they wanted...Dairy, egg, poultry Cartel's are one of those contentions, it has many pluses and well as many negatives...the consumer pays to keep these guys in business...and we as a nation should be looking at this entire issue, once more...it is another example of one industry being favored over all the rest.... We do need more partners for everything, But saying that USA will always be a largest trading partner...and that relationship should be our number one priority...Our current economical leverage is declining every day we have tariffs... Trump cares about one thing and one thing only...THE US....and he is readjusting the way things were , by doing things like forcing NATO to beef up their military, instead of relying on US troops and equipment.. not just NATO but all across the US defensive packs...The US is tired of paying the bills....economically, he is forcing nations to invest in the US.. while US industry has fled the nation, in favor of profits....he is forcing them to come back...
  2. I guess you don't get it....they would have all the influence over their own country, with no to very little influence from Ottawa... Albertan would be free of sending huge amounts of tax dollars to the rest of Canada, and having their voices heard in Alberta and their new capital....And would be more than happy with sending all their oil to the US via new pipelines ...and if you think it is going to stop at just Alberta your been smoking to much weed...Saskatchewan, Manitoba would from a new alliance , not sure if that involves the US or not... so more than just oil , but also the bread box of Canada...As for BC, well you'll be cut off from the ROC, good luck with that.... The next question you'd have to ask is why the rest of Canada would not follow suit, some time in the near future...Do you really think Quebec won't separate... which will land cut off Ontario...and the Maritimes....the total collapse of Canada... So i guess we will all be sucking up to trump at some point...
  3. That's not what i meant, all of your examples were found guilty in a court of law.....then sentenced....Omar is no different he pleaded guilty and then was sentenced, the Canadian courts upheld that sentence after he was transferred...
  4. I did not mention hospitals, i said national projects the ones Carney and the provinces have agreed upon....this is about removing provincial trade barriers....worth more than 210 bil that should be enough to motivate any one province Again your making assumptions...you know nothing about me...And right now Alberta is not the problem...in fact Alberta is leading the charge...nice deflection ...
  5. Trump is going to keep on placing tariffs on Canadian products as long as Carney and his government play games in the media...Trump can do all of this all day, every day....so now we know the consequences....and the cause, why can't we figure out how to get a deal...without the dirty laundry....Or maybe we just grin and bear it until there is 100 % tariffs on everything....and we lose more industry and jobs....because we are either to stupid or our pride is in the way.... Trump is willing to suffer short term pain to get long term gains.... To answer your question , because right now they are the best in the market....want to fly grippen a gen 4 aircraft might as well keep our current F-18...or buy the expensive euro aircraft....or invest in the new Gen 6 euro aircraft plenty of new projects that are yielding results today.. There is none at the moment, at least of Gen 5 aircraft...lets not forget we have a historical record of doing this every 40 years or so....which negates most of the reason of building them here, in 5 to 7 years when production is finished, what happens to that investment....Not many people are buying Grippens....by that time a new gen 6 will be out... The Eurofighter or Dassault Rafale are 4.5 gen fighters, light years ahead of the grippen... but have a hefty price tag...funny how no one is mentioning those fighters....
  6. The Feds hold enough influence to get this job done....so while they have no jurisdiction, the feds are the bankers to the Provinces withholding any number of those national projects would be enough i think...
  7. No any other definition is just opinion....The only one that counts is the one based on Canadian law....which according to the experts is to vague to get a conviction in todays courts.. Your right he was not convicted he confessed , and was sentenced , can't really sentence someone if they are not guilty....but sure...If his sentence was not upheld by Canada why would he have to serve his remaining of his sentence in Canada....Once again why would he have to spend one extra day in prison if he was innocent, or not guilty.... The only thing that saved Omar that day was he spoke English, other than that US service pers would have let him bleed out on site....or just eliminate him before moving on...sometimes it is not always possible to render aid or take prisoners... CSIS violated his rights, by not providing him with council and not forcing the US to release him to Canadian authorities....Had nothing to do with him pleading guilty to murder charges and a few others...those charges were upheld by the Canadian government.... In Afghanistan every boy of 12 is consider an adult, he can marry, fight for his country, provide for his family...lots of kids fought for the Taliban....and other terrorist groups...if they were armed then they were targets period, ....they would kill you without even thinking about it....they were hard killers....Would i be happy if he was executed....not really, that being said i would not be shedding any tears for him, more like indifferent...could not care what happened to him, he was just another bad guy......Canadian troops were sent over there to kill bad guys, that's what we all did...Not sure what your fishing for here....But lets be clear....he was a terrorist, he planted mines that had killed US service persons, plus pleaded guilty to murdering a US medic....A person protected under the Geneva convention...Had the Liberals just left it alone, and told that judge to take a long walk in the woods, Omar and his family would not be enriched by their treason...
  8. He was convicted as a terrorist" unlawful combatant" ....he is not afforded any rights under the convention....except to be treated humanely...You'll have to ask the US court how he was convicted....ask the Canadian courts which upheld the conviction so he could serve his sentence in Canada... They have not down anything treasonous....you provided the link and definition even you said they're actions do not fit the discription... Even the Canadian courts have said that the definition is very vague, and they would not be able to convict Omar on treason...and yet his actions fit most of the definition perfectly... The last person executed for treason in Canada was Métis leader Louis Riel, who was hanged on November 16, 1885, for leading the North-West Rebellion. While other cases occurred, such as Inouye Kanao (executed 1947 on foreign soil) and the unjust 1885 conviction of Chief Poundmaker (exonerated in 2019), Riel remains the most prominent and final domestic conviction. Key details regarding treason convictions in Canada: Louis Riel (1885): Following the North-West Resistance, Riel was tried in Regina and hanged for high treason. Inouye Kanao (1947): A Canadian-born soldier executed for war crimes/treason for mistreating Canadian POWs in Japan. Exonerations: In 2019, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau officially exonerated Cree Chief Poundmaker, who was convicted of treason following the 1885 rebellion. Modern Context: Although high-profile incidents like the FLQ crisis or the Toronto 18 plot occurred, they did not result in convictions under the Criminal Code's formal definition of treason. Treason in Canada remains an indictable offence carrying a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
  9. What have they done that fits the description treebeard provided....that would hold up in a court of law...and what is different in Alberta than in Quebec...
  10. Canada could not even find Omar Khadar guilty of treason and he was a foreign terrorist convicted of murder of an Allied soldiers of the US coalition...in which Canada was part of....in fact we paid him 10 million dollars for his efforts...are you willing to pay each separatist 10 million...because by sun rise every Canadian would have their hand up....screaming pick me coach show me the money....
  11. DO you not think Bombardier has not tried that already.....as for the F-35 sure....you guys are not going to be happy unless we are flying paper airplanes.. which are meant to keep Canadian pilots alive , not because you don't like their president....which will be gone , turned to dust before Canada gets around to replacing those aircraft which will be here for 40 plus years....if our history shows us anything....
  12. Well according to Trump and his staff they did not see Carneys speech as very flattering....There is no double standard....the governor thing came after Carneys little talk....and besides that the US does not need a deal with Canada....Canada need that deal much more.... and when your a super power you can talk any way you want...I mean really what is Canada going to do....rally our allieds.....Britain has already said which side they are on, and it is not Carneys....and if Britain won't come to our aid who will...We are alone in this fight, and Carney speech's are not doing us any favors....Is this the new Canadian way to negotiate start with a little slander, start talking about you behind their backs and then think we are going to get a good deal.....THIS is trumps second term....IF Canadians have not learned by now what trump is like then really there is no hope....we will screw all of it up because of what pride...I really don't know how we as a nation have lasted this long....i mean we even the provinces can't get along...they will not swallow their pride to help out fellow Canadians....if if we can't get along how are we to get along with our southern neighbors... We will never be free from Trade with the US....why is that so hard to understand...it will take decades to find new trading partners to fill the gap...But most are willing to throw all of that away....for no more than pride... Name me one country that would not pull the plug if need be on our armaments if they decided they did not like Canada's policies....There is always an excuse for Canada not living up to its responsibilities....US presidents have been trying for decades to politely ask us to get our sh!t in a pile ....And now that trump is more or less demanding it, we are mad....and pouting in a corner ....this is not the first time someone from Canada has used the media to slag the US....They are tired of paying all the bills, it is time we stood up and owned that.....telling the media your going to fix it and actually fixing it are two very different things....Sorry heard the same line for 34 years while i was serving...you'll have to forgive me if I'm skeptical....ANY conflict we get into will be on the Americans side...Canada does not , or better yet can't get into anything on it's own, and neither does Europe....Knowing that why would you buy second rate equipment for our men and women , because most Canadians who have this lip on, will never step into any of that equipment because of their hatred of trump......It makes no sense...
  13. So i guess we just shrug our shoulders and say screw it the auto industry is lost.....SO lets hasten the process....WE should not be doing any business with China...You liberals whined and moaned the last time the attacked us with tariffs and hostages...promising we should diversify our trade away from them....today we forgot all about that, because it is convenient maybe we should ask the Michaels...or is it all about cheap Sh!t....because China got a lot of cheap stuff...
  14. Pick on there are dozens to pick from...I personally would not suggest any EV unless you drive in the Bigger cities...But Canada produces a lot more than just EV cars...
  15. Another story about the same topic, why question is why are people not listening, this topic is being splashed around the media, and we are still talking about trump... Posthaste: Miserable about food prices? There's a good reason for that
  16. Not that easy, Take Alberta and the rest of Canada will collapse quickly...Not sure what Quebec will do...but there is more to Canada than just oil and gas....US need critical minerals, and the rest of Canadian resources, lumber, steel aluminum, fresh water....there is a long list of nice shinny things Canada has to offer...Just don't expect any huge republican gains...at least not in the starting phases...but once Alberta , Saskatchewan, Manitoba leave the rest will be picked up for pennies on the dollar...If not it will be just like the Mexican border, flooded with white Canadians looking for work...might as well take the whole bunch of them...
  17. Which one is it, are we goin to be is the US going to be our largest trading partner, or are we going to diversify.....and if we continue,o why do we need to continue with slandering Trump( knowing how he is going to react) ....it's like Yes we know what side the bread is buttered on, but we are still going to poke and poke until we get a reaction....Then it is surprise MF here is your tariffs, and then we respond like it is a surprise...and act like what is that for... For all you guys that seem to have forgotten this is trump 2.0, we already know what he is like , what drives him, what he likes and does not like...or maybe our memories are just gone....or we are stupid, and love to see how he reacts, either way we deserve what is coming to us....Not because i love the Good old USA, but rather we are acting like a bunch of kindergarten kids...and then surprised when we get treated as such... Where has it gotten us today, do we have a trade deal, has our relationship with the US increased....for a guy that sold himself to Canadians as the guy to get the deal, the one sent from god to deal with trump, HE has failed....AND Canadians are thumping their chest....ready to support Carney ...whom has delivered zero so far....Trump is not even in the top 5 concerns for Canadians ....but the liberal machine will change that come the next election....and because we are SOOOO smart the liberals have a fighting chance to win another election....
  18. It isa not what i think, it is the reality we live in. The US has always controlled or heavily influence the western words decisions...only today we don't like trump as everything he says or does is bad...i get that, but look back at our history and tell me were we have made a major decision that was not influenced by the US or Great Britian...it might shock you they are few and far between...SO in reality we surrendered long ago, because it was advantageous to us...Pointing out that Canada has been a good allied is moot, look at our contribution size and tell me we were living up to those defensive agreements. Maybe the US is not satisfied with our responses...take the drug issue, we hired 1000 new RCMP and CB staff, and rented 4 Blackhawks...it does not inspire any really action does it, take our military, yes we announced a whole bag of money would be spent to bring us to 2 %, but in reality a good chunk of that will be returned as DND will not be able to spend it in time... Imports where has that got us, why have we gone that route, is a better question ? it is cheaper, less transportation costs, it is a huge profitable market which prefers US costumers.. Yes we have been singing we should be diversifying our markets every since the Chinese placed massive tariffs on us and then held hostage 2 Canadian.....so why have we not done that yet....So are we dupes, or just to damn lazy.... I've talked about being taken advantage off on another post, Has Canada taken advantage of the US, i would say yes, take NORAD, NATO and who pays most of the bills, you have mentioned trade already....we do it because it is convenient and we are to lazy to go else where. Carney should be looking out for the nations best interest which is to solve our tariff problem....do you really think slandering trump at this point is helpful, whether it is true or not, is it a good tactic to use when your trying to ask for something....The world sees what Trump is doing , everyone knows it not like they needed a reminder from Carney....And come this summer we will find out what all these comments of Carney is going to cost us...when CUSMA is being redone, and then we will see who is sympathetic or not... He is not a diplomat he is a businessman, same as carney , so don't expect to much diplomacy from either.. He does not want Canada, we got to many problems to be worth having us under the US umbrella...that was trump diplomacy in action....threats and tariffs is is bag, we either adapt on how we deal with him , or perish because of our pride....We have been ignoring it for decades, trump is just being more forceful, and to be honest US diplomacy when it comes to Canada has failed in every way...every president dating back decades has failed to get Canada to spend more on NATO, NORAD, not to mention our trade with the US has been declining , The US has been paying the bills for our defense, for far to long, they are getting sick of it...every wonder why they don't have all the social programs we have...ever wonder if they want them...Now it is not just us it is most of NATO, NORAD, 5 EYES and every other defensive pack the us has...and it has cost them trillions...Now they are saying start paying and everyone is shocked they would step up and demand that....
  19. No we are not but don't for a second say that our nation decisions are not heavily controlled by the US...All you have to do is look who is behind all our major decisions...and who shaped them. It is not that we allowed this to happen , what real choice did we have , say no....and every time we have there has been consequences...And now we just pretend to be our own nation, controlling our own destiny...All of that been said we have also enjoyed the economical successes that have come from being dependent on the US...And because the President has said some words we are now just waking up and saying hey you can't talk to us like that....Yes they can, because we got lazy and let all this happen...We should be pointing the finger at Canadians...I find it funny that you would say that they are cynically exploiting that vulnerability....when we have had no problem doing the same in regards to trade, defense, and everything else that comes with being the US neighbor.... We have surrender long ago, waking up now when the US has angrily said enough is enough, start paying for your own stuff...and now we are pissed off because the free ride is over...
  20. I'm not taking any credit , just pointing things out that climate change is no longer the top concern for Canadians....apparently eating or paying rent is...Go figure...
  21. According to the article and report done by the IMF, IF the actual gains are any where near what this report has said , why is this not Carneys number one priority...It states roughly 210 BIL added to our GDP.....That would solve almost all of our issues, increasing provincial handouts, fixing our health care, our education system, our military, building infra structure...getting things done.... Or maybe this article is nothing more that fairy dust, made up to sell papers, I mean Carney is a Banker he should know all of the benefit's this could bring to the nation, and yet it seems we as a nation are not that interested in the extra GDP this would bring Canada....like we are still a cluster of provinces and territories that like to operate independently of each other...... worried about their own bubble and people and Canada is just in the back ground someplace... I mean look at our nation, Alberta independence movement is growing rapidly, Quebec's movement is gain traction as well, as the BQ gains more of the voters strength...(with the liberals tanking badly in Quebec) It is almost like our diversity was a Liberal dream, that is now splitting us apart....and no one really cares.....and while we wrap our minds around that, it is no wonder we can't unite and solve these barriers or differences for 210 bil extra dollars of Income... Maybe it just me, but 210 extra bil sounds like a worthy path to explore... https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadian-economy-report-imf-interprovincial-trade-9.7062567
  22. And yet all of that means nothing if you can't even afford a sandwich...Climate change is not even in the top 8 concerns of Canadians...
  23. I have to ask you do you really think Canada controlled it's own destiny, you make it sound like Canadians are in control of Canada....SO what in the blue blazes makes you think we are in control now....Give us an example of how we are in control of our own nation ? And if that's the case why are we surrender monkeys now when it has been the practice for Centuries...And as far as lies goes, the liberal party is one big lie....just that liberal voters can't see it...
  24. Is that what you call it, subservience and vassalage...(something we have been for decades now....).I guess you would rather die under the sword then, or be destroyed economically by one of the worlds super powers. Please tell us all what do you think your going to prove here, what outcome do you think you can achieve.........Every other G-7 country has done exactly that have become subservience and Vassalage for decades now, and we have seen in the recent media all of them pledging all of that once again..to have their tariffs reduced...And now you standing up and saying he hates all of that, hence why they have reduced tariffs and we don't....Because Trump thrives on all of this...And don't think for one minute Trump backed off because Canada agreed to send 16 air force guys on a military exercise to Greenland...or Carney speech had any influence on trumps decision... Those that decided to speak out would be nothing more than a speck on the windshield..... Yes, it is me that is living in an alternative universe....Time and time again our closet allies have complained about Canada military , its lack of spending, it's lack of taken any responsibility in world affairs....Those same friends as you call them called as laggards... What were these friends saying or doing when it was Canada that was threaten.... Did you see any lining up to send troops to Canada...maybe a ship of two....Nice friends you got there... Carney is making new friends, you mean like China...the same country that has stab us in the back so many times, that relationship should have been terminated long ago. Carney had one speech in DAVO's and all of a sudden everyone likes Canada....here is a news flash for you, Trump does not need friends....the US has one of the largest militaries in the world , on top of one of the largest economies...And after all of this is said and done, NATO will be under the US command as it always has been.... Now you and the majority of Canadians as you suggest can thump your chest and beat the war drums...., and provoke trump even further....and we will see what that gets us, I'm just being realistic it won't get us anything........But that's all it is, noise in the back ground, Noise is not going to get us a trade deal or get rid of tariffs... If we don't get a deal on CUSMA or tariffs where do you think that is going to place us economically....I mean 67.9 % of our trade goes to the states....and if the tear up the agreement and put further tariffs on Canadian goods, do you think we can weather that storm...Covid economical period will look like boom times...But at least you and others will have your pride , wonder what that taste like....
