Yes there will be other helos in theater, just like there was in Afghanistan, literally thousands of them, and yet not always available to other nations or units...made available if the host nation was not using them then there was the list or priority of your task... Your right it does not mean that 20 leopardIIa6m were borrowed from Germany becasue the LEO I were not up to the task be it with air-conditioning, weak armor, older than dirt meaning extensive maintenance was required all the time...troops were getting injured operating them....So the government did not really speed up the purchase of replacement....they did however buy some 60 old LeoIIa4, only upgraded 20 into LeoIIA4M, leaving the remaining 40 for training tanks.... which sat in a warehouse for 2 plus years waiting for a contract to upgrade them....thats not an urgent buy....Check out all the rest of the equipment purchased for Afghanistan, only after a certain amount of troops had died did they take any urgent buy, and then only the minimum amount that was required for Afghanistan and a few samples to train with in Canada... Yes you did , and all i said was it was a poor choice... Yes Canada does have those capabilities, F-18 for SAM suppression, And Armed Griffons like they used in AFghanistan... Look things never change fast in the CF...That includes doctrine, Light Infantry units that we do have are becasue we were to cheap to buy the vehicles and equipment they needed....Are they looking at new jobs for the Light Infantry...sure they are....Is it the new wave of doing things no it is not....Our military masters are always looking at new ways to fight the last conflict...Insurgent warfare is not the future..Just look at the threats to the world right now...we have Russia and China...The rest of the world is not gearing up to fight another insurgent conflict...they are gearing up for high intensity war fare with a near peer...And while Lt mech forces have a role to play....it is not in Latvia, not facing Russian mech and armored forces...one does not really mix lt and mech forces unless it is a blue moon, and they are bumming a ride...besides a mech battle group needs mech equipment and the manpower to fight in it...hence why you really don't see mixed forces....what good would a company of lt infantry be in a mechanized battle group...two separate missions... Clearly this is a pet project for someone anyone in the military could tell you this vehicle is not very well suited for arctic countries such as latvia, or canada...there are thousands of vehicles out there that can do the same job....hence why most of our vehicles have an enclosed cab with a heated, with exception of a ski doo..Also why we purchased the BV206 for light bns....it goes anywhere that any other vehicle can go... Your doctrine changes are from 2014/2016 once again they are planning to fight the last conflict. It is never a good idea to have Lt forces face off against mech forces, they are heavily outgunned, and can be out maneuvered very quickly, meaning easily destroyed with not much effort.... We don't have a full division of airborne or airmobile that have mechanized and armored forces attached to them, shit even the Marines have armored forces attached with them...We don't even have enough tanks for a one full brigade, let alone arty, air defenses, armored engineer assets, enough Armored recce assets, the list just gets worse as you go... Not all of this is the military fault,although sometimes it is all their fault, they act like starving kids and know for 30 to 40 years before they will get another one, so they cram it with all the bells ands whistles they can get.... it takes decades to buy anything and when it comes on line it is already to old...then there is the political aspect where they have the final say on what you can buy and how many....along with all the other political interference that comes into play with other departments wanting in on this fat government contracts.... The writing is on the wall, take a look at other militaries, take the US marines getting rid of their tanks...because they predict the china threat is going to be a island hoping campaign...In Europe most countries are scrambling to by Armored equipment, more tanks , more IFV, more Air defenses,like shorad, or long range stuff...waiting lines to get this stuff is well into the not before the 5 year mark...or more... As for readiness, yes lt forces can get out the door quicker, for good reason they don't have all the fancy gear to haul around....but once they get on the ground then what...how do they move around, what is their mission...They developed the preposition equipment for this very reason....Mechanized troops fly over, with basic weapons, and equipment, and jump into equipment that was stored just for this task....

A known terrorist group invaded the state of Israel, and killed 1250 of it's citizens and has taken countless hostages. those actions amount to a declaration of war, and in war people die, BTW well over half your total number of palestinians killed are confirmed Terrorist, which are included in Hamas death tolls...It's not a slaughter...if Israel wanted to it could have carpet bombed the whole place and would now be dozing it into one big parking lot...but that is not happening....What every Canadian should be doing is condemning Hamas for its actions, stopping all Canadian tax payer dollars from flowing into gaza and the west bank...Stopping all palestinians from migrating to Canada. It had nothing to do with testing anything out, it was covid, remember that, everyone sent home, then came this hybrid system...working from home in some Public service jobs...not all but some...3/4 of the other Public service employees are back in the office...and have been for a while now... It has got nothing to do with jealousy, the other Union members of PSAC are back to work in the office, and DO not get compensated for gas to back and forth to work, child care, parking, that add up to hundreds of dollars per week....The government has been extremely generous letting them have these benefits for so long, on top of the raise they just got...If they get these benefits Then rest of majority of the union will want to get it's piece of the pie as well, worth a couple hundred a week.... it is not worth the cost... Like i said the employer gets to set the rules and policies, the inmates do not run the asylum....if they don't like it quit, and give those who want those jobs the opportunity...

In many parts of the country the hunting is still rated as excellent...Here in NB it is a different story, I've come across many First nations and people from Quebec, or north shore set up hunting camps, kill as many deer as they can, and can or bottle them on the spot...and taking off before DNR finds them...to get a moose tag is like winning loto max, almost imposable...even a buck tag hard to get...I know a lot of guys use to go to NFLD and take few caribou but even that is hard to do now with the herd being so small....You really got to go north...But yes there is nothing like wild game, and all that goes with the hunt...

PS workers are claiming a lot, there have been studies that also say working from home is not as productive as in the office under direct supervision...and vice versa ...you can't tell me that everyone is working harder.... Having to convert office space into homes is not the issue here....got nothing to do with Civil service, BTW how is that working out so far....This is about civil service wanting to take that inch the government gave them and turn it into a mile...... Last time i checked the Employer sets out the rules and policies for each employee to follow, don't like those rules then yes by all means there is the door, there are thousands of Canadians who would blow a dead bear for those high paying civil service jobs....None of them are irreplaceable, just another squirrel on the wheel.... Meanwhile there are thousands of civil servants that need to come into the office to work, all across the country They are not compensated for their drive in to work, Day care, getting to spend more time with their families, or give to their communities...no they are to busy working for the government... They just got a huge raise in pay this year, on top of all that for the last two years they have not had to pay for parking, gas to get back and forth to work and in some case day care as they are home every day, getting to see family more, even have time to get involved with the community....start adding all that up and your looking at more than a few hundred dollars each week they are saving...And while they are off doing all of this they are not getting work down they could have done while in an office under supervision... Many are retiring....in protest...these are well paying jobs, and would be welcomed by new and younger Canadians eager to have a chance at government benefits... I like, EXFLER worked for the military for a long time, then went to work in the civil service for 5 years, and he is right they have grown into an entitled group of pussies...for the most part...they are always whining about something or letting you know what they can do or what they can't...

Russia has the upper hand now....It is taking ground in Ukraine on a daily basis....NATO support has proven inadequate to even produce a stalemate....and before you mention the incursion, Yes good on Ukraine for doing it...But has it produced any of the results Ukraine wanted to achieve ?, other than a major moral boast...Russia is not responding the way Ukraine thought they would....but on the Ukrainian front lines in the east it is a much different story... This has been going on for weeks now, Has NATO boasted any of it's support, pushing much needed equipment lost in the incursion....Not really it has been sitting and watching... WHY is the question?

While out for coffee with a bunch of of friends, and acquaintances...One of the younger guys that i have never meet before was asking this question for his own peace of mind. most of us were ex military and he got a wide variety of answers some of them not very flattering....I struggled to come up with 10 things that made me proud to be Canadian....I did surf the web for more examples but most of them were after thoughts, really...fillers in a media article.... 1...Meeting some of the greatest Canadians to serve in the military, to serve with them in all the hardships we faced was an honor..I wish the rest of Canadians had the same integrity, honor, drive, adaptability, ingenuity to name a few, as these people have.... 2...escorting my best friend back from Afghanistan, and the long drive from trenton down the highway of heroes.... to see the highway lined with flags and people was the saddest and happiest moment i had as a soldier...I was proud to wear my uniform and serve Canada that day..., i can't say that for my entire service... 3...Being thankful of being born in this nation, to have the advantages i have enjoyed...It does not make me proud but it does make me thankful... 4...Proud of our military history, the good, bad, and ugly parts as well, and try to honor those that served in the past...they were big shoes to fill. 5... Proud of our traditional morals and values, like being honest,having a sense of integrity, honor, respecting religion, and everything tied to that such as marriage, strong family values,etc... 6....That's all i can think of at the moment...
