  1. It is not an insult when "you" are having issues following what i said or the meaning behind those comments. It is almost like you are trying to misconstrue what i said or the meaning behind it. I have corrected you several times, and have no more interest in doing that, as the conversation is one big circle, on the road to nowhere.... you keep repeating things i have "not" said or implied, i have corrected you and you continue down this path, you're either doing it on purpose to derail the conversation or can not keep up...which one is it.
  2. Seeing how you are having a hard time keeping up or tracking what i've said. I agree it is time to move on...
  3. It's not about having thin skin, it's about your ability to debate without adding in all kinds of personal insults...You do this with almost everyone, almost like you don't care to debate just want to throw some insults in there...I could understand if you were recipicapting my insults, but you weren't.
  4. Still can't get over the fact that Russian forces have been and still are advancing, those are just facts, facts you can not deny... Not just me, this source is from the BBC, i can find more if you want...but then again you already knew that In recent days, Russian troops have made some significant gains to the north-west of Donetsk and claim to have captured the small town of Niu-York. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60506682 I'm sure the Russian defence department will take your opinion into account, perhaps you can list the number of Russian conflicts that took these concerns seriously...What you and i consider wasteful is a moot point to them... I'm sure someone was taken out back and shot yes, i think they are taking it seriously, how seriously is not really apparent...by their current actions is it ? Debating without personal insults is not your strong suit is it...i don't recall judging you let alone insulting you or your opinions, I think i'll end this conversation on that point. Thanks for the talk.
  5. Look go back and reread my comments, my entire augment has "NOT" been that Ukraine strategy is not working as you suggest, I said the incursion was a waste of time, resources and man power...... Ukraine is doing what it can with the level of support that NATO is giving them, if they "Ukraine" is losing ground it is not because of there strategy, they are only playing the cards they have been dealt....No where did i say anything about their past strategy. What did they jeopardize, Well everything really, expanding the war in another sector, when they are struggling in all most all of them, meaning critical manpower and equipment is now being lost at a higher rate than it normally would had they maintained a defensive posture, you also use a shit ton more ammo, that is in critical levels... They risk that belirus will enter this war..., They risk Russia bringing in more troops from other parts of Russia to bolster the remaining border areas, forcing Ukraine to match or exceed those numbers so this incursion does not happen to them ukraine. They risked NATO stopping arms shipment as they were not aware of the incursion and what it could mean for NATO, They are now using long range NATO supplied weapons' on Russia itself, which required NATO approval... The risked wasting those troops to be killed or captured...when they were much needed reserve forces to counter any Russian break through... I have said many times that the Incursion is working out for the Ukrainians, i also asked for how long, and at what cost...only time will tell.... I have pointed out the FACT that Russia is gaining ground, which you and others on here have said it was a moot point...that was a month ago and those gains are all adding up.... Why would sitting down with Russia and talking be a bad thing ?... Reread my posts at best this is a stalemate....taking a small chunk of Russia is not going to be the winning move, after 2 plus years of conflict there has been no large gains of ground for anyone really...So how can it be anything other than a stalemate... Look during all these conversations your side of the augment has clearly stated that Russia could not compete with NATO economy or rate of productions...And yet they have, IF they could beat or compete ....why HAS NATO hesitated to provide the latest in tanks IFV, Aircraft instead of hand me downs.......not to mention AMMO or other weapon systems...it could only mean a couple of things , NATO is holding back big time, if it wanted to it could flood ukraine with all the kit they need to push Russia back to moscow if they wanted.....why have they not done this ? ...or NATO does not want to pi$$ the Russians of more than they have to...keeping the level of support even with Russian activity on the ground... Or perhaps NATO is hurting it self with equipment levels/ manpower levels etc and they can't afford to be equipping Ukraine...Most NATO countries have cashed in on the peace bonds hard, even the US has let some of their numbers slip a little while other larger partners like the UK ,Germany, france, and most others are just shells of their former selves.... MY conspiracy theory makes sense if you think about it, NATO's main purpose is counter Russia...and China...why would it not be to NATO advantage to have Ukraine wear Russia's combat power down with NO combat losses to NATO...all it costs is some equipment most of it old stuff....I mean really what does Ukraine hold or have that the entire globe depends on... It is not full member of the EU yet, not a NATO Member, it is part of the food basket for some of the world...and it does not want to be part of the Russian empire...So is it worth NATO going to war over or going broke over. Don't act like the west has not played god with other nations around the globe....remember Somalia, with thousands dying of starvation, in goes a US coalition and instead of killing the terrorist and gangs, and feeding the people we left after the US pulled out....then there is Yugoslavia, middle east, Asia, Afghanistan, the list goes on and on...So playing with Ukraine is not out of the question....
  6. It has already been pointed out that prior to the Incursion, Ukraine action plan was working to minimize Russian advances, to cost them manpower...and yet when i suggest reinforcing those vital areas that Russian troops are advancing on that is non sense, or some how inconceivable.... Pointing out that Russia is making gains is not a shtick, but fact...and i have mentioned that Ukraine's incursion has shown great progress, for how long or at what cost are questions i asked...And never have i said Russia is winning the war, I have said it has more resources than Ukraine has, and with out NATO support Ukraine would crash and burn....those are facts........i have stated many times the whole conflict is more or less a stalemate, as thats what NATO wants...they don't want to upset the balance in the area or Russia.....If NATO wanted a victory then the supplies would be flooding Ukraine...
  7. Is this not what Ukraine was doing, until the incursion...So how would putting those reinforcements back into those same areas be nonsense...Ukraine has been doing exactly what you suggested all along....but when i suggest moving troops back into the same lines it is nonsense....why fix it if it is working....you've spent a lot of bandwidth telling me that Russian gains are nothing...which would indicate Ukraines original plan is working...So tell me why if it is working why would you risk changing up the plan for something that may have turned out to be very risky.... And your 100 % right Officers do the planing, Enlisted carry out the plan...do it often enough and you will see plans for what they are....good or bad...you don't need to be an officer to see a plan and it's mistakes...
  8. Let me ask you what has Ukraine been doing in the last year, holding ground and letting Russia grind and losing men and equipment, it seems to be working for them...unless you can point to where it is not working...so why would fix something thats not broken... Yes it is good strategy, but the question i keep asking and no one has the answer for is with Ukraines resources almost maxed out, why would you jeopardize current actions with a new one that is an unkown.
  9. An argument that is backed up with sources that don't see it like you do...The fact remains Russian troops are advancing and doing it in several areas of the map...some of those same sources have described those advances as substantial...SO no i would not describe it as foolish but factual... Ukraine has taken a chunk of russia , and yes it is more than Russia has taken in months if not years...I don't believe i have said it was good strategy, but then again Russia has a long history of doing just that, lives do not have the same value as we give it in the west...i think the fact they have continued to do so for months on end proves all of that...Russia's chain of command is not worried about the cost in manpower or equipment...but rather in every meter of ground taken... I don't think anyone really wants putin to win, I also think the west or NATO does not want to paint Putin into a corner, as to expand this conflict into europe....NATO is only giving Ukraine as much support to maintain status quo... OK, i can take constructive criticism, I'm not an expert on much of anything,i do know my way around being an infanteer ,that and 3 bucks will get you a coffee..... i do however do research and try to present what i think is a valid augment...I don't however proclaim to be all knowing, and yes i've strong opinions on most topics, but in some cases i've been convinced to change my mind or opinion, Such as when you and i had a discussion on economics, i have several with Michael and he has shown me the light...there are a few others on here that i value their opinions...but i'm sure i'm not the only one here that has strong opinions That being said...thats a double edge sword...and it works for the rest of the forum as well....I've yet to meet many people on this forum that have NOT been influenced by media and have strong opinions based on all of that...
  10. Explain the intent behind it ? other than to provide Addicts with a safer alternative to street drugs....So why should tax payers be on the hook for a personal choice of others....do we offer the same service to alcoholics that drink after shave lotion, or those that huff, sniff glue...the list goes on... Does it actually deter drug usage...and if so how ? Does it do anything to deter Chinese from exporting these fatal drugs into Canada....not to mention the gangs and criminal elements profiting off these activates...I watched a documentary made in BC about a para medic unit that spent all day running around treating over doses...in one day they had saved the same kid 5 times from overdosing....that same kid was dead by morning...all of those times he was treated at a safe injection site or within 200 meters from it...it was more akin to making them comfortable until they managed to kill themselves...
  11. 4 chinooks once in a while.....and 4 griffons will be sent to latvia, Not enough to move troops and equipment needed to sustain more than a platoon...These helos are going to be used in a mech Brigade format, mostly for logistics/ vip .... https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/canada-will-send-helicopters-to-latvia-next-year-defence-minister-says-1.6688666 Everything that was purchased for Afghanistan conflict, was not an Urgent buy by no means, when enough soldiers had died thats when our government took action, and only then...Military was screaming for these assets for years, before they came into service...exception being was C-17 because they were sexy... x 20 Leo IIA6M ( 15 for Afghanistan, and 5 for training in Canada) which the were originally loaned from the Germanys government , new ones where going to be purchased at the end of the conflict.... The same thing is going to happen with all this new equipment...purchased low numbers just for the mission and nothing to maintain that capability....soldiers trained on this new gear will only see it in theater, maybe every 3 or 4 years....go back to Canada and use the same old and outdated equipment as everyone else in Canada is using... Ukraine does not possess or use the same equipment as NATO, nor does it use NATO tactics....Such as EW, sam suppression, attack helo as escorts, it is truly a combine operation using many army and airforce assets... I remember doing air mobile ops , and looking down at the skids of a twin huey with branches hanging off of them, thats how low we were...not many radars can pick up targets that low... you talk like this air defense thing is a new thing, the airforce and army aviation have been destroying enemy air defenses for decades now and are pretty good at it...once an air defense radar is turned on it's a target... I have never heard of any light forces in airborne or air mobile ops using any ground transport once dropped off...unless you have an example....99 % of the time they landed 10 to 15 kms from the objective , then humped in by foot, to avoid detection...the reason for that is pathfinders/ Recce have already marked the route, and have traveled the route many times, they will lead the main element in almost to the objective...arriving by school bus or civy car sounds like a russian or ukrainian tactic...Not a NATO one... I think your confused on what dismounted operations are, and how they are conducted ..Mechanized troops as with any Infantry unit does dismounted ops...anything done outside a IFV is dismounted...we did regular dismounted patrols (on foot)in Afghanistan, or for that matter on any op or exercise ...The difference between Mech or Light forces is one uses IFV or APC's for transport, light forces normally use trucks, jeeps, BV-206 etc...and in the case of Afghanistan were cross trained on the LAV and they were used as Mechanized forces...even though we eventually had helo's near the end...they remained mounted..Mech forces are going to be used in a high intensity near peer conflict....Mech/ Armored vs Mech/ Armored... Lt forces are used in specialized ops like seizing an objective like airfield, bridge, etc for a very short time until mech forces arrive...They are rarely built into the same formation...As mechanized forces can also be used as Air mobile...when needed...
  12. first off you don't get a vote or say how someone else wants to live their life...Thats between them and god....secondly my wife and daughters know that i'm standing just outside the door, and all they have to do is scream and i'm going to be in their like stink on shit....ready to go to war with whom ever. And if you think that the LGBTQ community is going to start a war, it is more likely it will be rednecks like yourself that will start sh!t... Like i said as long as they don't involve me and mine into their fantasy's yours included i'm ok with them living their lives as they want... You are struggling with your sexuality....they pose no threat to you, has one of those trannies picked you up in bar, did you grab a handful of nuts....when you were hammered...is that what your afraid off certainly sounds like it, so why is it you have such a hard on for the LGBTQ community....they did not steal your wife/ girlfriend did they........and yet you've come on here to preach your hate and bullshit, because your afraid........The world is a huge place room enough for almost everyone.... Like i said i have a wife, she is female, and i have no homosexual tendencies, i love her and no other....LGBTQ community have no interest in me or my wife....i don't feel threaten like you do...you seem to be doing a whole lot of thinking about all of this maybe your the one wanting to come out of the closet.. It sounds like your the only one here out to divide people into groups...there is already to much of that in the world....i'm sure there is not LGBTQ groups roaming around at night stealing penis and making virginas your safe....get a teddy bear if your scared, i heard night lights work as well. There already in your head, they are winning....your turning gay as your write your next post....
  13. Because that was what the government choose to buy, like i have said a million times The military sends in a sheet of specs, civilians then go out and pick 1/2 dozens or so what they think meets those specs...IN most cases it is the Government that picks what they are going to buy, and in most times it is not what DNDN picked but rather what they considered the best vehicle, kind of like having your wife pick out your power tools. You do know that all government auctions for military equipment are sealed bids , the highest bids win, those that want crappy army vehs over bid...got nothing to do with the government setting prices or controlling prices if no one bids you could have gotten it for a dollar... NO we Ain't but our government has a proven record of sending us any where in the world in or out of combat...and we go with what ever equipment they decide to buy...I know of atleast 8 soldiers that died in Ilits in Afghanistan, before they went out and purchased the lowest protection in a G wagon...only to have more soldiers and a diplomat die in those before they purchased MRAPS, which everyone had on day one....`159 soldiers died in Afghanistan most of them from IED's we went 4 years before they decided to rent off the US Chinook helos to keep us off the roads... Easy to sit in your arm chair and say we ain't in Afghanistan, when a new conflict could blow up tommorrow and we still would not have the right equipment, but soldiers don't get to decide where they are going....but it sounds like your good with burying them instead of equipping them to do the job right.... We are talking about trucks, ones that are unsuited to do the job....they are open are in an artic country, have you read any of the posts....that fact alone should tell you it is the wrong veh...there are plenty of other reasons..
  14. Thats all you got DUI is a downvote on the video, did you even watch it, what did you not like , to much detail for you, are you afraid to discuss it, Or is it you just don't like my opinions, you know there is a ignore function right just for that....
  15. You've been saying that for over a couple of months now, I'm afraid they are well past the outhouse...why is it that none of the other media outlets describe Russian gains as insignificant...Have you not been following the battles....Yes Ukraine is making huge gains in the Kursk region...but Russia is also making gains elsewhere due to Ukraine pulling forces off the lines for this incursion... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60506682 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr40wwzd4gyo
  16. Please do tell , DUI what is the significance of the incursion....And i did not understate the significance i out right said it was not the best use of resources at this period of time, when Russia is make gains in territory....
  17. So are you saying that none of the points he raised are valid, or that this video is no longer valid... Yes Ukraine continues to hold Kursk, I don't think anyone is debating that fact, what i have questioned is for how long, and at what price ? But i guess no one is allow to question or submit an opinion that is different from the mainstream. What can i say, i guess only time will tell if this incursion has been worth the time, effort, and resources they put in to it...I'm not the only one that has questioned this incursion many others in NATO and other sources have as well.... This is but one small part of this conflict a win here may or may not effect the entire outcome of this conflict....that is not doom and gloom thats a fact...What is still unclear is what is Russia going to do , if anything...Unconfirmed reports are saying Belarus is now send thousands of troops to Ukraine border, if true what is going to be Ukraines response... https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/21/world/europe/russian-response-ukraine-incursion.html https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/belarus-lukashenko-says-nearly-third-army-sent-ukraine-border-belta-reports-2024-08-18/
  18. An indepth look at the war in Ukraine from both countries view....he is not the best on the web, but he brings in many points that no one is talking about...and he goes into great detail with viable sources.
  19. What a load of crock...Afghanistan the only safe roads where inside the camp...leaving the camp meant you were going to get shot at or blown up by an IED...that was insurgency warfare one of the tammer ones...Latvia is or will be a high intensity warfare...and it won't matter what your moving or driving it will be shot at or blown up...as for GM parts i mean GM has dealer ships all over europe, to bad they don't have north american truck parts...
  20. Your joking right...Canada just invested tens of billions in EV battery plants and making EV's ...i guess you did not get that memo.... I doubt very much the jeep dealer had the same vehicles that meant the same spec's for 12 k....the MLVW built in quebec was priced at 50 K each and thats in the 80's...Jeep could not even touch the specs of those trucks....besides military contracts are not for the military, they enrich our MP's and other rich people who jack the shit out of prices once DND is mentioned....And in the end they did sit in the fields rusting because they were 35 plus years old and spare parts were no longer available....and the government cut funding to have them fixed... Yes make do, this coming from someone i can only assume does not make do.......let me ask you is your car 35 plus years old, and yet you are telling todays soldiers to make do...Thank you for your support...I can tell you for a fact next flood, ice storm, earth quake, forest fire , DND will not be telling you to make do...they'll walk if they have to...when they arrive tell them how much you support them...
  21. So i guess i cross the line then....I mean what would i know about Infantry roles be it LT infantry or mechanized...Just becasue it was our government that made the choice it does not mean it was the right one... We don't have any Helos or aircraft capable of dropping them in Latvia...Yes the Army has been working on this project for years, and will be for many more years...Perhaps talk to exflyer he worked on military national procurement...ask him how much pull the military has on getting specific equipment? Who finally picked the F-35, ...the new Frigate design, AOP's the list goes on and on...all were picked by our political masters they have the final say...The program may have been driven by the military need but the choices are done by our government .... Military submitted Specs...on very few procurement has the military pointed to the government and said we want this...C-17 was one of those buys...they are rare.. Every nation in NATO still has airbourne and airmobile troops on the roaster, Helo bourne troops fly NAP of the earth tree top to avoid radar and most air defenses...I'm sure if airborne forces where to be used they would be escorted by aircraft with jammers etc etc...once again landing maybe 10 KM from objective and walking in with all their kit.... Mission that are 100 KM into the enemies rear are rare for regular force troops, more a spec ops mission....to much risk...See the bridge to far... i don't see any of them trading in Trillions of dollars in Helicopters, or transport planes becasue enemy air defense are good...they might land 10 kms away from the objective, but one things is always sure they are humping to the objective...heavy weapons systems are broken down and distributed among the troops...No one drives 100 km through enemy held territory let alone in a lt veh like this one...not even Mechanized troops operate that way.....not since patton did it in WWII... Canada agreed to man and command a mechanized Brigade...LT forces might be flown over, but it is not to act as LT forces but part of a mechanized unit...
  22. ALL of Ukraine's forces are tasked in this conflict, either on the front line, held in reserve to regroup, rearm, or along the borders, most their reserve forces have been deployed to this russian incursion what little they had. along with many brigades that were already on the front lines...this incursion is more than 1000 men as first reported it involves more than 7 brigades...thats alot to pull off the front lines already stretched thin...and being pushed back daily... Russia has huge reserve and division size units posted around the Russia countryside...Why they have not been deployed nobody knows as of yet...And lets be clear Ukraine borders are just as porous as Russia is if you look at the units posted around the remainder of Ukraines borders, they are or were matched number for number...Now that Ukraine planed this incursion...which was to force russia to use troops to reinforce it's borders, hopefully from Ukraines front lines....It is also going to force Ukraine to match man for man along it's borders...i wonder where those troops are coming from... Yes Russia is scrambling to stem the bleeding....here are the facts Russia has a huge manpower advantage in other areas of the country...NOBODY knows why a huge counter attack has not happened as of yet....but don't act like it is not coming...or not a course of action... Draft budget already approved by their parliament, Don't take it out of context..... Draft budgets don't been to get parliamentary approval becasue they are drafts....unless thats the plan they are going with.... ...as they are working on a deal to use 50 bil in Russian assets... Yes aid will continue 50 % of the other half of the aid is still going to arrive.... Yes more equipment is going to arrive, certainly the Ukrainians can final get to go on the offensive right, or would this just about cover the losses they have been having....30 LeoIa5, i mean come on man, you know that is a joke right...be like sending over M-60A2 tanks...It's junk, Captured T-72 are much better, and these tanks were promised last year , but are just coming out of refit...just to get them to run... I'll ask you again do you think that Ukraine can win this conflict on current NATO supply ? You've said this already along with other on here NATO is not providing enough supplies for ukraine to go on the offensive....Ukraine it self has said this over and over in the media....It's not doom and gloom from me it is from Ukraine... At no point did i suggest German is no longer committed, what i said is Germany is cutting back it aid by 50 %... Yes it is your opinion becasue you are only telling half the story here...Ukraine has been asking for more supplies of arty, tanks, IFV, AMMO, etc... from more than a year now...Ukraine is barely holding Russia back, meaning the amount of NATO support is in the negative to sustain combat operations....Russia is gaining ground in almost the entire front....a month ago you guys were saying that Russia could not sustain these losses forever...well apparently they are still at it...and still gaining ground....You guys act like this is not costing Ukraine anything....when it is costing them huge Yes Ukraine has taken a small chunk out of Russia...you think this is going to take years to get back...Perhaps it will but Ukraine will have a cost attached to all of that....What i don't get is if your barely holding ground before the incursion why would you weaken the front lines even more "WHAT do you think Ukraine is going to get from this incursion" here is what Ukraine has said in the media....to get a better seat at the negotiating table.." Putin replied their will be no talks while Ukraine has Russian territory....They want Russia to reposition front line troops which they have done some what...but not 7 brigades worth as ukraine has done...SO no real strategic advantages, and very little tactical advantages...Whats the advantage...they hold some Russian territory, that really holds what value....it is a temporary Moral boaster...
  23. Fair enough...i will respond directly to your what you say.... It is not the same at all, ALL of Ukraine's forces are deployed in Ukraine....Russia has a vast amount of troops positioned else where in Russia that it could move, free from any threat. Ukraine can not do that... It is a done deal...already approved by the german government... https://www.politico.eu/article/germany-halt-new-ukraine-military-aid-report-war-russia/ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0kr91zqp0lo As for other countries , i said they are not pulling their weight, including Canada, and others....I also said in a question form how long will it be before others decide to cut their aid packages...As Germany already has... Again this has already been passed in their parliament...it is a done deal... Your 100 % right my initial comments were wrong, Germany is not stopping all aid, but rather 50 % of it...And will begin using frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine... Aid packages are being sent...I gave you a source from the Ukrainian military they wished the aid would come faster, and in larger packages....the fact they have addressed this at the NATO hq, with the US and other nations they gave a long list of equipment they have asked for to allow them to go on the offensive....most of that equipment has not been actions...and don't let a few F-16's fool you into thinking these aircraft are going to turn things around for Ukraine becasue they won't, they are just enough to show people like you that aid is coming in...Have you seen any new tanks, new IFV, anti tank weapons..... what i have seen is a few more air defence systems, some new SPA, shit tonnes of arty/ rocket ammo..not in numbers that will allow them to go on the offensive.. YOU may be happy with current support being provided....But at it's current capacity all we are doing is leading them on, as Ukrainian forces get weaker... I asked you do you think Ukraine can win this with the current level of NATO support ? Ukraine is losing territory every day....thats not my doom and gloom opinion thats fact... Again i have admitted that my original statement of Germany was stopping all aid was false...they are cutting aid by 50 % , already approved in their government. 100 % correct my opinion is meaniless on this topic as all the decisions are being made in Ukraine. And yet here we are discussing it on a discussion forum, that will have NO effect on the outcome of any battles in Ukraine. Anything we discuss on this forum will result in zero influence in any topic globally. I might add that really no one opinions here on this forum is going to affect the ukraine conflict...And if we were to stop discussing things that we don't have influence on we could shut the political forum down and start talking about my personal life which is really kind of boring... But Thats not stopping us from discussing the entire thing... thats what a forum is for....
  24. How is this not defined by the liberal government, i mean every purchase must go through a stringent vetting process, including being vetted by the liberal government, "Most" of all our government purchases have been decided by the government inn charge , Military gives procurement officials a list of specs...the government decides what brand they buy, then the military tests it sends the results back to government and poof They decide good or bad, it is the government that decides everything....I mean look at the LSVW that veh was tested and failed dozens of times before government just told them to buy it, it was a piece of crap... And if we are criticizing the defense file lets not forget the conservatives, they got their share of screw up,s and success stories...like the C-17....total failures not buying/ Renting Chinooks fast enough lots of blame to go around....every Canadian owns a bit of that shit sandwich as well.
