  1. Is this the first step in trying again to not have taxpayers fund political parties? I hope so.
  2. I'm not that happy with the CPC but that contempt charge comes from such a biased source that it is a joke.
  3. That is the sad situation I find myself in. I wish the Greens were just a little bit less out there. Or we get a good independant in my riding, but little chance of that. I really wish "None of the Above" were an option on our ballots. But I will vote. I feel it is my duty.
  4. Libya supplies less than 1% of the world's oil. They aren't that important. Your post is real tinfoil hat territory.
  5. Before anyone else says it "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and confirm it." As I say, Harper ain't my man anymore, but Iggy still needs to learn the above.
  6. Two points. First, I am amazed at how well the UK coalition government seems to be working. Secondly, I visit several US based political forums and am always appalled at how partisan they are. But it seems to me that that is becoming more and more prevelant up here too. Unfortunate. I'm in a real quandry about who to vote for this time around. I'm economically right wing, socially centered, but Harper has been infuriating me lately and Iggy is just a joke. Sucks to be me.
  7. Actually I did give you a link. Bugger off.
  8. I agree. Equality should be in opportunity, not in outcome.
  9. David Suzuki. Own it.
  10. I regularly visit a US politics message board. We are bad, but they are way worse. Faint praise I know, but who knows. Way back when, the early '70's I lived in England. Seemed better there, but maybe it was here too at that time.
  11. They choose all the tax breaks of living the rural life and now they expect me to finance their broadband? No way.
  12. I had the pleasure to work as a consultant for Nexen some years ago. For those who don't know, they are one of the largest Canadian oil and gas exploration and production companies with more operations in the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea and Yemen, among others, than they have in Canada. And they are the most ethical company I have ever worked for or know of. In regard to the subject of this thread, their extensive operations in Yemen, a horribly corrupt place, has been accomplished without a single bribe, per se. What they do is go in and offer to build a school, or hospital, or road or whatever they have to promise the big-boys to get the permission to operate. But they do it all themselves. They don't just give money to the government or local companies to get it done. Why can't Canada operate similarly with our foreign aid?
  13. This pre-dates my becoming a political junkie, but didn't Chretien cancel a helicopter order the Conservatives place with a massive contract cancellation penalty, and this is all part of that hole we are trying to dig our way out of?
  14. Sharia law is really scary dude. There's no way anyone in the west could agree with that. It's a serious menace, You want your mom, sisters, aunts and daughters made second class citizens. And that's just a small part of it.
  15. A lot like Al Gore and his carbon credits. Man, is he getting rich!
  16. Including that Toronto bunch that wants Sharia law? Sorry, that was a response to charter.law. I'm still learning the buttons on this board.
  17. With all due respect, that is one of the biggest loads of bull I have endured in a long time. The British were pretty cruel to the Irish in the 1800's, but that is done and buried. Get a grip. (And I grew up in a Limey dominated town where Ukes like me were discriminated against.)
  18. Is it a conscience or fear of detection? I know where my vote is.
  19. Get modern, dood, it ain't the joos anymore, its the Muzzies now.
  20. I often wonder when a criminal has this amazing epiphany and all of a sudden shows great remorse and conversion to good and on and on, how much was that his lawyer convincing him that doing that kind of a song and dance will greatly reduce his sentence.
  21. The CTV news website's poll of the day was something like "Should Khadr serve his sentence in Canada?" The results as of late this morning, BC time was 74% no, 26% yes.
  22. Powerful. Thank you.
  23. Because I am absolutely convince he set the whole thing up in order to make a gazillion dollars trading carbon credits. And he's being incredably successful so far.
  24. Serious question. With our rediculously lax immigration policy, would being seriously whacko do it for you?
