  1. Yet again you blather away and don't present a single fact. I on the other hand present: Fact: CO2 is present in ppm concentrations while water is present in whole percentages. Fact: CO2 is compared to water a poor absorber of IR. What say you?
  2. Hey Waldo, what facts do you bring to this discussion. You blather really well, spouting the AlGorithsm beautifully, but you don't present anything other than the rants of the believers. I have a Ph.D. in photochemistry. That's like the study of how electromagnetic radiation (light, IR, UV X-rays) interact with matter. I know how CO2 absorbs IR and how I know how water absorbs IR. Mr. Mann sits there with his pile of discredited statistics and is mainly wrong. I'm not saying I'm correct, but you guys screaming that you have found the holy grail are full of it.
  3. I really don't understand most of the discussion in this thread. It appears to me that Bernier said no more fund transfers from the feds to the provinces. Quebec would fold like a two buck suitcase if that happened. What gives, a Quebecer suggesting the main revenue stream for Quebec be turned off? No way. Viva Alberta Libra.
  4. Wiki is great. I just made a donation to them. I bet you only don't like them when an entry contradicts your prejudices.
  5. Hell, you need a box of tissue. So he's going to outlaw Alzheimers?
  6. I know and I did. But many of my friends could not afford that, or at least it would significantly affect their standard of living. That's not right.
  7. So what are they basing their conclusion on? What, wrt CO2 did they measure, calculate, experiment on or whatever?
  8. Yes, that is what their computer models tell them, but..................
  9. But as of three years ago, the conclusion that it is CO2 is based on computer models that can't handle water vapor. Therefore a total joke IMHO. Correct me if newer models can handle water, but to the best of my knowledge they still can't. And the 5% you refer to, that's 5% of what exactly?
  10. Sorry, in your terminology, when I said mitigation of effects I meant adaption. Is global warming happening. Probably. Is mankind to blame, possibly. Is CO2 the baddy, I have my doubts. We are talking about an IR absorber that is way weaker than methane or the real baddy, water vapor. With all the extra people on the earth, all the extra critters on the earth, and all the irrigation the world over, the steady state concentration of water is higher. So we have a relatively weak absorber measured in the ppm range and a very strong absorber measured in the percentage range. Then look at all the pavement in the world and all the dark roofs. I really would like governments to mandate that all roofs must be white, just to reflect more sunlight back into space. Cheap, help the paint industry and contractors, and not knock off the wheels of business.
  11. I feel your pain.
  12. Not sure what you are getting at. My point is that this report indicates that especially the computer modeling is lacking, and decisions that could have serious impact on the entire world's economy are being advocated by various activists based on fallible data. Plus consensus on the magnitude and timeframe of the climate change is far from settled. Yes, I favor development of alternative energies. Yes, I lust for a practical electric car. But even then, I did a calculation for another board I visit, and was able to show that for hydrogen fuel cell cars, just in the US, based on 2007, it would take the total output of 407 of the largest nuke power plants to make enough hydrogen to power the car traffic. And that doesn't include trucks, trains and planes. Don Newman, on the CBC news website has an op-ed suggesting that it is time to move from prevention to mitigation of effects. Perhaps he has a point.
  13. Interestingly enough, Mrs RNG worked at the Southern Alberta cancer treatment facility for 13 years as the oncological dietitian. The initial diagnosis was lung cancer, and I guess trying to biopsy that is extremely intrusive and potentially dangerous. But the medical association, the cancer board and most hospital administrations were begging the government for more MRI machines. Interestingly enough, about 15 months later they did almost double the number of MRI's in the province.
  14. Two years ago in Calgary, I needed an MRI. They thought I had cancer and the doc wouldn't look at me until he had the MRI. It was going to be a three month wait. But a private outfit had opened up and thankfully I could afford the $600 they charged. I got it that day. As it turns out the original diagnosis was wrong, but this saved my family and myself three months of emotional agony. So yeah, it's all American propaganda. NOT!
  15. And what's the life expectancy of anti-Putin (cause Medvedev is a puppet) reporters and editors?
  16. So you are OK with costing the economy large amounts of money and letting AlGore get even richer with his carbon credits on the basis of a maybe?
  17. I'll accept Germany, but Portugal? Further confirming what a joke the UN has become. And giving the UAE what they asked for would have been a disaster to our air industry. Our airlines are controlled in most other venues, so we have the same right.
  18. I don't know how to make it show up in a blue box, but the following is a cut and past from the APS release. On these matters, APS judges the science to be quite clear. However, APS continues to recognize that climate models are far from adequate, and the extent of global warming and climatic disruptions produced by sustained increases in atmospheric carbon loading remain uncertain. And this is the crux of the matter. So many of the conclusions are based on these climate models. Not good enough.
  19. I consider myself a libertarian. As the lesser of two evils, I favor the concept of a single payer healthcare system. (Not saying there couldn't be many improvements in our current one.) And those are two opposing philosophies I have internally debated for years. The solution would have been for the medicare to have never been instituted in the first place, I would have bought health insurance when I got my first real job and all would be fine. And therein lies the evil of giving. Once the government gives, it becomes almost impossible to take back. Now, since my taxes are used to pay for medical services, I grudgingly agree the government has the right to force you to not smoke, wear helmets when cycling, wear a seat belt and much more.
  20. Early in this saga, I read that NASA had volunteered advice on keeping the men mentally stable in this situation and advice about nutrition etc. The only detail I remember was suggesting that they somehow get some exercise and that they keep/be kept busy. Easy to say. And yes, congrats to Precision Drilling.
  21. Yet another example of how the government, and not just ours, can screw up bacon and eggs. And we trust them with our money?
  22. Because the PC crowd is trying to kill us. I fear for my grandkids.
  23. The UN is an impotent, corrupt bastardly accummulation of Banana Republics that make a joke of the real world. Who cares? That Canada is trying to get some sort of recognition in that pitiful cesspool is very, very sad.
