  1. That's a pathetic defense for irresponsible spending.
  2. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't see Velet Touch on that list.
  3. Look at the NDP platform. Layton plans to give the gift of national debt to my great-grandchildren.
  4. There aren't sufficient facts to justify either position. Of the known facts, I am highly suspicious about his claim of naivety.
  5. I was at the U of Alberta for 7 years, admittedly a long time ago. The majority of politically aware students were leftish liberals and rightish NDP. The extreme left was well represented. But the right-wing was sadly small. But check my post count, this might be the Devil speaking. Dang, I posted in another thread and ruined my joke.
  6. what are you? Some kind of radical? Actually posting a polite and rational comment on MLW. Smarten up!!1!!!1!
  7. I wonder if the Lib candidates are taking the same route as the US Reps did in the 2008 election where they didn't want to be seen anywhere close to Bush. Iggy is poison right now.
  8. Move to Calgary, I got mine in three days. And it cost me nothing, other than my dignity.
  9. Layton has lots to gain by lying, on the assumption that most liars and criminals make, that they won't get caught. And before anyone gets into a hissy-fit, I'm not implying that Layton is a criminal. But he is a politician.
  10. This is the second time I have had a link copied from a secondary link not work on this site. So I will copy and past from the CBC article. Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/story/canadavotes2006/national/2006/01/12/layton-surgery060112.html#ixzz1L3cHV4Kv The link works this time.
  11. So if he paid like the common folk, how come he jumped the line like the articles say?
  12. If it was all so above board, why is he whining and sniveling and saying next time he'll investigate more and he's sorry and on and on. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canadavotes2006/national/2006/01/12/layton-surgery060112.html. And that's the Communist Broadcasting Corporation reporting it.
  13. Other than May, what other Green is in the running?
  14. I just googled jack layton private clinic. The first hit is http://winteryknight.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/ndp-leader-jack-layton-gets-medical-care-at-private-clinic-instead-of-public-hospital/. Looks like lots of back-pedaling to me.
  15. I have never seen that show, but I used to listen to a political discussion panel on CBC1 in Calgary. I think the program originated from Edmonton, not sure. Anyway, they had a reasonable Liberal, a not too wacky NDPer but they chose the most ridiculous imbecile to represent the Conservatives. What a joke.
  16. People at large and the politicians. Yet again a bad Rep/Dem ideological split, and yet again one in which logic and debate are out the window. I get a kick out of the posters on this forum who say that minority governments should work, all we need is co-operation and compromise. I agree. But will we get it. Hell, no IMHO. We in Canada are getting as partisan as much of the US.
  17. I don't know the laws about an ex-cop leaking information. But from everything I have heard or read, the Sun story reported what the cop reported. They didn't say that Layton was playing hide-the-wienie. They left that up to the imagination of the listeners. So I don't think they can get done for libel. Maybe for aiding and assisting the "crime" the ex-cop committed but not for libel.
  18. This is discussed ad nauseum on an American forum I visit. The problem is in how one chooses to define "medically necessary".
  19. Whether the "wide stance" dude resigned or was forced out by the party, even though Joe the Plumber didn't care is something I can't comment on. On a different aspect of your post, this "scandal" is big news on this board, but our local paper had a page 7, bottom left story about this with the major thrust being Sun News is offal. And both the CBC and CTV websites have minor references to in buried deep in the bowls of their cyberspace, with captions that don't really elicit much interest. I'm in fact surprised how little mass media attention this story is getting.
  20. Ensign? That presidential candidate who's wife had cancer and he was "romancing" one of his staff? (Damn, I see his face but can't catch the name.) - Got it, Edwards. Not to mention all the closet gays that ended up resigning.
  21. So first he says he will "help" the central bank set interest rates. I guess sort of like he will set credit card rates. (Right!!!111) So basically everyone with two bits of brain to rub together shit on him so all of a sudden, he says he won't. Full story - http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadavotes2011/story/2011/04/29/cv-electionl-layton-rates.html Way to go, the man with convictions. (To get himself elected at all costs and don't matter who he screws in the process.)
  22. Plus having enough muscles to play middle linebacker for the Argos. (And would probably do better than your past few.)
  23. To the best of my knowledge, nothing. Other than maybe asking Harper if he and the Bloc want to form a coalition, assuming their combined seat total was larger than that of the NDP plus Libs. What a freaking disaster in the making, either way.
