Show me a link to any respectable site that shows NS having an unemployment rate of 0.5%. I call the brown effluent from the north end of a south-bound bull on that one. And I doubt the Manitoba number too.

Mr. C, are you serious? And I bet Olivia is going to hang a lickin' on that dude if it's true. -
Layton found nude in massage parlour!

Way to go, studly Jack. Now can we get rid of our stupid prostitution and maryjanehehwanna laws? -
Newspapers so far endorsing Conservatives almost exclusively
RNG replied to Moonbox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Some truth in that. -
It's the fed portion I am referring to, of course.
-
But, if there wasn't the equalization payment drain from the fed, they could lower the tax rates for everyone. The net result is that yes, the Quebecer who makes the same as me pays the same as me, but they take some money out of that pot and give it to him (indirectly, of course). The net result, I am paying him.

I posted this in another thread. Go to the CTV news website and read Don Martin's blog. His take is that the electorate is so fed up with the Cons and Libs attacking each other and everything, and bicker in a very partisan manner. And there is Happy Jack, being cool and saying things the non-thinkers like to hear. Anyway, he says this isn't the people being pro-NDP, this is giving Harper and Iggy the finger -
In fact it does. In part, tax rates are adjusted such that the feds have money to give to the have-nots. Thus if they weren't, the tax rates would be lower. Of course, if it were a lib or NDP government, they'd just find other places to piss it away.
-
Yes, but if he didn't have to have the Alberta government giving a whole bunch of their money to Quebec and the Maritimes, he could be paying a whole lot less.
-
Slightly off topic, but do any of you "senior members" (in posts, not years) know what the record number of posts in a single thread is? I bet this one has it.

Will Layton form a coalition if NDP finish 2nd place?

It seems to me, and even most of the non-rabid Democrats that the consensus is that Obama can't either. But we all have hope that there will be change. -
I think I get it now. This US political forum I visit I would have gotten that immediately, but we use bad words etc. on that one. This is about the first naughty I've seen on MLW.

I'm not being argumentative, or busting anyone's chops, but why is it certain polling firms seem to give results consistently showing an anomalous result compared to the others. I have often noticed this. Other than Polaris, which is bought and paid for by the Liberal party, IMO.
-
So why is Quebec allowed referenda, if that's the correct plural.
-
As I said in another thread, all poll results now should be prefaced with a statement along the lines of "of 1000 people who can't afford call display or are really bored or don't have a life, X% think yada, yada, yada."
-
Except that Mr. Stelmack was at best a Very Red Tory.

You should read Don Martin's blog on the CTV news website. His take on the situation is that the electorate are so mad at the Cons and the Libs for just attacking each other and constantly bickering on an extremely partisan basis. And there goes Happy Jack with a smile on his face and nice sounding promises. Anyway, he basically thinks this surge of NDP support isn't so much NDP support as it is giving the finger to both Harper and Iggy.

Some year ago I must have been bored because I agreed to be polled. It was the first time I had been called. And then all of a sudden I was getting called twice a month, and not just for political polls but they wanted to know my favorite laundry soap. So I quit taking the calls and after about three months they quit calling. Makes me wonder if they don't sell or exchange lists.

I will admit I haven't read many books about it, but have watched probably five or so documentaries on WWII. And in everyone I can remember, a military type, politician, historian or expert have all said that if Hitler had kept pressing on to England when the Germans hit Dunkirk he probably would have conquered the British. They were is such disarray. The blitz in fact both gave them time to regroup, re-arm and on top of that it really set the British mental tone. Or so I have been told.

The BBC news website today reports that India has just announce they have eliminated all contenders except two European entries. Quote from the article "The Indian defence ministry picked the pan-European Eurofighter and France-based Dessault's Rafale ahead of jets made by Boeing and Lockheed Martin." So no F-35's there. Whole story - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13233177

Time for jack to stand up and tell the truth.

I call BS on that one. Maybe some silly poll says they say they are happy, but I been there. Street crime is rampant. Drugs are wild. It is an absolute Sh*thole. And Hugo is the hero who will make it all better next week, or next month, or next year or in heaven, whenever. -
As a theorist and political observer, it is very interesting. As a tax-paying citizen on a fixed income, the concept of the NDP having power scares the shit out of me. Tax and spend gone wild.

Climate a Non-issue in Federal Election
RNG replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Totally wrong. I have been searching forever. The Chemical Institute of Canada has asked this question of it's members and there is no answer as of two months ago. Who's computer model of climate can handle water vapor? Instead of smart-ass comments, give me some information. Specifics will do. -
