You mean they had some other purpose behind printing trillions of dollars, twice?

What is the most important election issue?
RNG replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I wish we still had the Reform Party for me to support. So I guess I will have to vote for the watered down Conservative Party. -
It isn't a lack of judges, it's that judges respect rule of law and civil liberties.

"500-page dossier on Harper's thoughts"

I don't think so. Sort of cherry picking, and mostly out of context as far as I can see. -

I'm not arguing but am damned surprised. CTV essentially boosting a CBC regular? Wow. P.S. I just visited it and can't find it. You got a link? -

Yes, more "Fair and Balanced" from the Communist Broadcasting Corporation. -
A cautionary tale from many, many years ago when I was doing a post-doc at Simon Fraser University. We had five candidates in our riding, a Con, a Lib, an NDP, a Communist Party of Canada and a Communist Party of Canada-Marxist-Leninist. Well I have always been fiscally conservative, and have mostly voted Conservative, but in this case our Tory was a total dork. But I could not bring myself to not vote so I voted for the Marxist-Leninist, thinking this would send a message to the powers that be. So the first result comes in on the TV, and they tell me he's leading. I almost had a seizure. Then they explained he was leading 9 votes to 1, one poll only and that was from a residence at SFU. He ended the evening with 10 votes and I'm sure the 10th was mine. But never again with the protest votes.

I've told you a gazzillion times, don't exaggerate.

Rather than an age factor, I have often thought that some type of awareness test has to be written for each election, and you need to pass in order to get a ballot. The problems are that it is a system very prone to abuse, like in the US south in past years, and turnouts are low enough already, this would probably make them even lower. But people voting for him/her just because some ass/asset looks good on TV is what got us Trudeau and the US, Kennedy.

Come on, some cop or some bureaucrat or some politician gets a mad-on for you. With these powers, given without need of warrent, they could make just about everyone except Mother Teresa go through hell. What you say makes sense if one assumes there are no evil persons in positions of power, but think about it. I have worked in countries where civil liberties are a joke. It is really bad.

Climate a Non-issue in Federal Election
RNG replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That was my field of study as a post-grad. The question I still have is, have any of the computer models they use for their conclusions been modified to be able to handle water vapor? -
Which actually might benefit the Tories. I am a Conservative, but hate Harper. But he's still better than Cracker-Jack or the Igg.

Climate a Non-issue in Federal Election
RNG replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's mostly accepted by politicians like AlGore who set themselves up to make billions on carbon credits, and UN one-worlders who want to control us. Not much science behind it though. Look at the absorption spectrum of CO2 and compare it to water and methane, if you know what an absorption spectrum is. Then get back to me. -
Time for jack to stand up and tell the truth.
RNG replied to PIK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You're preaching to the choir if that post was directed at me. I'm a small "c" conservative and tend to stay with the Conservatives, but several of Harper's personal issues disgust me. Yes, can we get rid of him and get Peter McKay in without giving Jack or Iggy a short stint to screw us? -
Climate a Non-issue in Federal Election
RNG replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I believe you are right, but I have given up this fight a long time ago. The religion of CO2=Bad doesn't tolerate discussion. And ignores science. But thanks for carrying on the fight. -
Wasn't it Mark Twain who said "the reports of my death are greatly exaggerated"?

Libby Davis - Deputy Prime Minister of Canada
RNG replied to Scotty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Pots and kettles. It gets boring saying "your guys are just as bad as mine or worse" again and again. We got our dingbats but every one of your guys and gals are just saints and saintettes. I know. I'm not worthy. Feel better now? -
I think that makes them hippopotamuses, or no, that isn't the word. What is the word I'm looking for? Hypo-dermis. No, something like that.

You missed that time. I don't find Dippy Libby funny at all. Kind of scary actually. But fellowtraveler's "Mike Duffy in drag" comment was absolutely priceless. -

Stockwell Day is not an idiot and never was. He was a great Alberta cabinet minister, a disaster as a leader and at least a journeyman federal cabinet minister. Martin was a genius as finance minister and a joke as a leader. I don't know enough about Toews to comment. But your lady is way, way, way out there. -
No significant new one sprung up this year. Now, I have COPD. The flu could easily kill me so I am pretty up on all this stuff. And Mrs. RNG has worked in hospitals as a clinical dietitian all her life. The problem is that each year they guess which flu or flues will rage. If they guess right, we won. If they guess wrong, lots and lots of people get sick, and unfortunately, on a world wide basis lots of people die. But there is strong evidence that the more flu shots you get, the more you are resistant to a wide variety of flues. I have been getting shots every year since 1994. And only had the flu once in that time. (And yes, the authorities, that is WHO and the Atlanta Center for Disease Control admitted they blew it that year.)

Harpo, Cracker-Jack and the Igg don't really make us one up on that lot, IMHO.

Layton/NDP open to reopening constitution with Quebec

Then why are they constantly still bitching?
