  1. I have mostly voted Conservative in my lifetime, and once for the Liberals. There are things the Conservatives have done and are doing that bother me and they deserve the criticism. Has there ever once been something bad that your beloved Liberals have done that you won't defend them to the hilt for?Does the sun really shine out of their collective behinds from your rose coloured glasses perspective?
  2. An interesting column by Peter Worthington. http://www.ottawasun.com/comment/columnist...1/10694831.html
  3. I have a novel idea. How about a hiring policy totally based on ability and suitability for the job,and keep race, gender and sexual orientation out of the mix? It's totally unfair if a qualified applicant is turned away because of race,no matter what the skin colour is.The leftist version of employment equity says it's perfectly fine to discriminate against white males, but not if they are gay I suppose .The best available person should always be the one that get's hired. What happens when employment equity is forced upon all job sectors? Will the Toronto Maple Leafs be forced to sign a more ethnically diverse lineup? They seem to be an all white male team,so left wing logic dictates that the organization must be racist does it not?
  4. Actually, that's not what I said at all.I made no reference to the amount of Muslims killed since the war,but in the time before that up until the present.Remember the Iran/Iraq war?Muslim vs Muslim.Palestinians kill each other too.How many Iraqis died under Saddam Hussein? How many Iranians die under the radical Ayatollah's that rule that country with an iron fist? Last, and certainly not least,if you read my previous post correctly in the first place,I did not say unequivocally that most Muslims die at the hands of other Muslims.I asked whether it was possible or likely that this was the case.Big difference. You seem to be letting your anger get the better of you and it shows in what you write on here.Try using reason and facts instead.
  5. I don't know if all of Canada is less dangerous,Toronto sure seems to have it's share of gun violence, mostly gang related.
  6. Dislike I can tolerate, but when it come's to Sarah Palin it seems to cross the line into absolute hatred. There are some politicians I don't like, but I don't hate them either. What is it about Palin that brings out the ugly feeling of hatred exactly? She stared down corruption within her own party, she is raising a special needs child and she's not afraid to speak her mind. What is so scary about that? What am I missing that makes her so dangerous?
  7. George W.Bush, possibly one of the most despised world leaders in history, was apparently quite popular in former Soviet bloc countries.People, like you say, that have actually lived under the Communist system. This speaks volumes.....
  8. Unfortunately, they pursue relations with Communist China for one reason, the pursuit of the almighty dollar.Cheap labour trumps human rights it seems.I dislike Communism, but at the same time I do not endorse capitalism completely. There has got to be more to life than the unbridled pursuit of wealth and nothing else. The point I'm trying to make is that Communism has left a rather dark legacy since it's birth (spawned?))and I wonder how anyone in their right mind could embrace this ideology.
  9. Do you honestly place so little value on human rights? On the other hand, there are nations where the people seem to genuinely love their leaders despite severe oppression.North Korea comes to mind,an even more oppressive place than China.Would you consider North Korea successful to rank higher than China?Shouldn't human beings count for something?
  10. This is too easy.I don't mean to lecture you of course, but would it be fair to say that in order for a country to be successful it would include........a good record on human rights?China is indeed an economic powerhouse, now that they have embraced some aspects of capitalism. But surely you would agree they have a very long way to go in the area of human rights? In case you haven't noticed, protests against the Chinese government are not really tolerated that much.
  11. Despite what these aircraft were designed to do,there were numerous WW2 fighter aircraft that had such gorgeous lines. One of my favs is the FW-190,especially the long nose D version. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FW190-D9.jpg Which was the fastest piston engine fighter of WW2?I have seen different claims to that title, including the P-51H,and last week watching Wings of the Luftwaffe, they claimed it was the Dornier Do 335 Pfeil(Arrow).Rather an unusal inline push-pull propeller arrangement. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dornier_335
  12. I read through all of the post's on this topic and was quite surprised that nobody mentioned one of the finest military aircraft of all time, the F-4 Phantom.First flown in 1958 and hundreds still active in non-US service today according to Wikipedia.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-4_Phantom_II
  13. If you know anything at all about the history of Communist countries, past or present, you should be afraid.I'm not quite sure if you are implying that Communism has in fact been successful or not. Let me know if you eventually can name one successful example of Communism.
  14. Is it possible,or even likely that most Muslim deaths are from the hands of other Muslims?
  15. So you have no problem if in fact this man still is a communist at heart? How about if he were a Nazi sympathizer?I just feel it's significant in that he holds a rather important position in the Obama administration.By the way,how many successful Communist countries have there been in human history?Has there been even one?
  16. Your comments are downright silly to say the least.Canada, perhaps more than any other non-Muslim country in the world, bend over backwards to accommodate Muslims in just about every way. And your theory that some shadowy "people" make blacks kill themselves?Please.....
  17. You're absolutely right, too much tolerance can be a bad thing. It bothers me a great deal that the Khadr family members live comfortably thanks to Canadian taxpayers. If I could,I would deport those S.O.B.'s so fast they wouldn't know what hit them. As I have mentioned before on here,if or when Omar Khadr returns to Canada there is a strong likelyhood that he will be released almost immediately given the fact we have a very lenient,Liberal justice system. He would also be reunited with his family,a scary thought...
  18. These so called health care "mobs"are rank amateurs compared to the usual suspects from the left.Last week on Glenn Beck's program ,he showed clips of the current town hall protesters and their tactics vs protests from the Bush years. There was a stark contrast in that the anti-Bush protesters did not seem to hesitate when it came to using violence. There was also a marked difference in how the protests were reported by the media.Town hall protesters are being described in rather nasty terms(Nazis, KKK,armed etc). The anti-Bush one's were described in much softer, gentler ways.No bias there huh?Journalists should focus on reporting the news rather than controlling it.
  19. On his show on Friday,Beck was talking about one of Obama's "czars",namely a guy called Van Jones, the so called green jobs czar.Beck claimed this guy was an avowed communist of all things.Yes that sounded over the top and I thought I would google the name Van Jones and see what came up.Lo and behold, there was a quote from Mr.Jones from the early 1990's "I met all these young radical people of color -- I mean really radical communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.' I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary. I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th. By August, I was a communist". To be fair, the article says he is now an advocate of green business and market based solutions but it's not known whether at any time he came out and renounced communism or any other radical ideology like it. So don't be so quck to dismiss Glenn Beck's rants, there is more than a grain of truth in his show.If what he says is false,as most of the leftists claim, surely Beck would have to spend most of time defending himself in a court of law.
  20. Are you not capable of getting your point across without resorting to insults?Or is it because the cold, hard facts aren't on your side?Pathetic....
  21. Don't hold your breath.Left wingers never, under any circumstances admit they are wrong.
  22. I personally think FOX News is head and shoulders above the other news networks.I also watch some MSNBC and NBC and CNN.It's just like they claim,FOX is fair and balanced compared to the others. Perhaps if Obama is in office long enough and makes all of his "changes",it could spell the end of FOX News. How about an American version of TASS,the official news agency of the United States? Has Obama appointed a "news czar" yet?
  23. Do you honestly believe these people get sick that often? What are the odds that most days missed are Mondays and Fridays.Come on,deep down you know as well as I do that most of these "sick"days are not used for sickness.I work in the private sector and I get 3 sick days a year.To date,I have missed a grand total of 1 day because of illness.I go to public places like shopping malls and am exposed to the same germs as just about everybody else is.Your suggestion that the private sector should give the same amount of sick leave is totally unrealistic.productivity would fall and prices would soar, which would benefit no one in the long term.
  24. From the Ottawa Citizen,July 25th/2009:Workers in the federal public service continue to have the highest rates of absenteeism in the country, and they are shooting upwards in step with an economy-wide increase in days away from work over the last 10 years.According to Statistics Canada, last year federal employees were absent from scheduled work 16.2 days on average, between sick leave.family demands, and other reasons. This is in addition to vacation days, maternity leave and other scheduled time off. Pathetic,16.2 days of sick leave(yeah right!) missed annually. They get more time off for allegedly being sick than many private sector workers get in their alloted vacation time.If there were any justice in this country, they would be brought back in line with their private sector counterparts. This is abuse and fraud, pure and simple.
