Is it OK to insult Islam in Canada?
Muddy replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That was very well said Argus, I wish I could put into words so eloquently those thoughts. The impact if Islam had won would eventually lead to an imbalance in rights and a resentment that would fester in the minds of those less privaledged. -

Reading today that in Somalia in some quarters reminiscent of the Taliban women are now being tortured for improper Islamic dress. One wonders why any free women in North America would want to wear a symbol of male oppression.

Finally a women who appreciates the freedoms hard won by strong women of yesterday. Thank you MysTerri.

The Guergis affair, politics, and the presumption of innocence
Muddy replied to Machjo's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well I admit I am a man ,and I think Iggy made some real mistakes on this . He has come off sounding like a male bully picking on a women who has already been knocked down . She may be guilty of some wrong doing ,or she may just be guilty by association. Or she may have done nothing at all except been in the wrong place at the wrong time. If the latter is true ,Harper will not be looked at to kindly by some. But right now Iggy is being brutal. The NDP are just the NDP and they just huff and puff. They are so over the top nobody except themselves listen. -
What amount of immigration do you support?
Muddy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes our past is made up of old faces, races and religions. Why would we want to throw away what made us a great nation. I welcome all who come here ,hoping they will assimilate into our culture and make our history their own. I want people to practice their faith freely but not to impose their faith. Such as Sharia law, honour killings, forced arranged marriages etc that are not part of our culture. Bring on the qualified immigrants, no matter their religion or colour of skin, that will not be a burden and who will adapt to our culture. That will allow women the same rights as the rest of us. To be a great nation ,the people of that nation must have a common thread of history and culture. Official multiculturism will keep us separate and ghettoized in our own little worlds within Canada. -

The PM would have been out of line to ask her these questions. What Iggy is is doing is giving the impression that Jaffer is guilty of cocaine use or possession. Careful there Iggy, he was not found guilty in an Ontario Court of law for cocaine. Guergis has not been charged with anything yet but she has been found guilty by the talking heads and the vultures. Guilty by association and marriage! These people just might be guilty of some underworld shenanigans but stop kicking the Gal to death until the RCMP reports and or charges are laid. I think Iggy and company along with the PM just might have jumped the gun here.Harper better have some real evidence to pass over to the RCMP. -

Well Michael ,I must disagree with you. If you ever get to France or Belgium, I suggest you visit Canadian war graves. You will find that the pedestals over the graves of the fallen are largely inscribed with a cross with a few Stars of David mixed in between. You will also notice that the names are steeped in British descent.Yes Canada was a part of Christiandom and yes it had a founding in British law and character. Thank goodness! We sure are a lucky bunch we Canadians. But alas we are working at destroying the heritage that created a freedom for people from all over the world to immigrate and make a better life for themselves and their families. -

No I won`t say the opposition is behind this little ditty. But some people who are all class put it together. All third of course. The vultures smell blood ,be damned the evidence.Be damned a trial before ones peers. The Gal is finished career wise but still the left puts the boots to the lady without knowledge of truth or facts . Tough guys! I bet you guys could squash a grape with one hand your so tough behind that screen. -

Michael , please assure Ms Cole no one for religious reasons or cultural reasons will force her to undergo any of the procedures mentioned,to inhance her beauty or lack of it. Such is the freedom of womens rights in North America thank goodness. -

Reporting should be based on facts and not show prejudice by innuendo. But commentary is a different matter. A good columnist should articulate some of their own speculation for their readers. A good newspaper should try and have differing views from different columnists that will challenge their own papers fellow columnists and editorials. But head lines should be truthful as possible ,because some folks never read past the head line. -

I have no problem with immigration no matter their colour or religion. I do have a problem with immigrants who are not willing to integrate and work. I don`t believe we should create public housing for immigrants because that only creates ghettoization and alienation from the rest of Canadian society. This creates fear of the group. Fear creates prejudice and hate. That is human nature . Our immigration should also be tied to our needs. We will always have a shortage of professionals in some fields. We definately can not afford huge amounts of old, feeble and sick individuals. I can not answer the poll because it is skewed to create an impression of intolerance and is unfair. -

Will the hang em high crowd here who have found this, now, infamous couple guilty repent if the charges are proven false? Will Harper reinstate this gal back into cabinet if the charges are proven false? I have a sneaky feeling that all the sins may not be as clear cut as we have been led to believe. -

Are you saying Harper was right in kicking her out? Or did he do it to give police more access to investigate? The more I hear about the circumstances the less I believe she was involved in something shady.Good comment in the National Post today. Good read. I don`t know if she is guilty of anything but she has had a bad time lately with miscarriages and her Mother in a bad way, hence the temper tantrum at the PEI airport, although inappropriate might be taken into account. If she and or Jaffer are guilty of a serious crime I think shame on the them ,but right now it is to soon to tell now that it is an RCMP investigation. Never the less her career in politics is finished. -

The pony is wounded and you can tell by the vultures circling above. They can`t resist the temptation of the blood. No proof ,no hearing of facts in a court of law, just unsubstantiated rumour. Fly with the flock if you must you ignoble birds. -
Conservative Rod Bruinooge Abortion Bill
Muddy replied to DrGreenthumb's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You may have a point there. The NDP would not allow a sitting MP to seek reelection under the NDP banner because she disagreed with same sex marriage. In any room of people, thank goodness, you will have a diverse opinions on social issues. I know first hand that the CP has no intentions of agreeing with this individual. Myself and other tried to get clarification from the CP about just partial birth abortion. All to no avail.I say again the CP has no intentions of supporting this private members bill. In fact more Liberals may support his bill than the Conservatives. -

The bill will not see the light of day. It is but one MP who has an agenda. Trying to link the CP Party to this is nonsense and political dishonesty. -

This is but one MP`s idea. It certainly is not the CP policy in any way. The CP will not even entertain partial birth abortion legislation such is their fear of the abortion question. In other words defining for doctors how far along one can give an abortion. As it stands now an abortion could legally be performed up to minutes before birth. Now I am not saying any Doc in his right mind would do that. But there are guys Like Mengale out there. I personally would like some safe guards in legislation to guide Doctors on time schedules. Is it six weeks ,eight weeks, six months or until just before delivery that an abortion can be performed? I am sure sensible pro choice advocates would embrace that kind of legislation. As a former fetus I am pro life . BUT! If I had a loved one pregnant and under great stress,I would hold their hand and discuss all their options and no matter their decision ,I would support and love them when they needed me the most.Would this private members bill deprive me of that option ? Of course I am but a man ,and if there is one thing I have learned in my lifetime ,men do not understand women .But we sure do love them. -
I believe that your reasons for joining Reform was the main reason for it`s success. The PC Party abandoned conservative values completely that only the Progressive meant anything. I too joined the Reform because I was homeless politically. I enjoyed being part of the policy decisions. I went to every assembly . It really was unique and different way of being part of the political process. We were in too big a hurry after we did not have the break through in Ontario in the 97 election. I was partly responsible for I went along with these changes and promoted the UA. We should have stayed the course and buried the PC Party completely. We made a major mistake with the United Alternative, that became the Canadian Alliance then morphed into the PC Party once again. Reform was becoming a brand name. I am now homeless once again. But gosh the Reform was great while it lasted. Damn shame we were in too big a hurry.

Someone should point out to the NDP that they are going to make Interpreters obsolete . They were probably mostly Quebecers too. Here I thought the NDP were for the working man!

Muddy replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well I don`t hardly think a turban can give the protection of a helmet, but I do know that the warriors beneath those turbans do not cut and run in a battle. If your helmet is falling off one needs to understand the reason and proper operation of a chin strap. -
Sorry JBG, it`s you Yanks who do not know how to spell.Honourable is the correct spelling. We let you use our language so the least you can do is stop bastardizing it.LOL

Is it OK to insult Islam in Canada?
Muddy replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Our own society ! Uh ,please describe our society? Is that faith based or seculer? I know of no laws within the Christian or seculer society that practice or believe in the treatment of women as I described in Canada!I don`t believe that all followers of Islam take the Koran and it`s teachings quite so literally ,the same as not all Christians do not take the Holy Bible literally. But within Islam there are people who are proponents of what I have previously described in regards to women and girls and they act upon these beliefs. Where we might have dingbats in the Christian world there are no excuses made for goofy and dangerous behaviour.Ask why there are not more Irshads , Tariks and Rushdies? Whoops I think I answered that ,they all have prices on their heads. -
You assume I am a supporter of the Conservative Party led by Harper. Your wrong. I dislike Liberals more. Political opportunism is always at the top of the agenda of politicians no matter the party. As an old soldier I just want to get our guys home safe without a bunch of panty waste politicians undermining them.
