How many speakers from foreign lands who are invited to speak in Canada at our places of higher learning are issued a letter about restrictions on free speech? I believe in the right to offend! I believe that if I am offended I can walk away,challenge opinions,write letters condemning , or support a reasonable movement counter to what has offended me. But never should free speech be curbed.

I have no idea who this Coulter women is . I assume she has a fan base on the right of the body politic . What has me watching Michael Coren Tuesday is the veiled threat from a high up in the Ottawa University in regards to free speech in Canada and that she better watch her step. I mean after all this is Canada and we don`t value free speech as Americans do. Shame on us if this is the feeling of Canadians. When I was a soldier ,my comrades and I, thought ,naively it seems, we were protecting values like free speech. Even if what people say offends me I believe passionately in what was once a Canadian value. I will watch this Gal on Coren and just see why so many on the left are trembling. Especially those running our Universities. The place I thought had open minds and where reasonable debate was so important and encouraged.

I think the government is wrong to even entertain having a judge go over legalitys of what our soldiers do. If Canadain soldiers are torturing prisoners we might have some questions to be answered . But know one is saying they are. The question seems to be ,are Canadians handing over prisoners to the Afgans to be tortured or worse are they letting them go so they can have another go at killing Canadian soldiers. We are not invaders of this country. How the Afgans run their prisons are really none of our business. Our job as soldiers in a war is to kill or capture the bad guys and try our best in our spare time to help with some infrastructure..

As a conservative supporter I expect Conservative Cabinet members to hold themselves to a higher standard than former Liberals cabinet members. The guy acted boorish and thinks there is laws and rules for the great unwashed but not for him. He might be happeir as a Liberal with his feelings of intitlement.

To say I am not disappointed in the behaviour of Jaffer would be an under statement. But! Plenty of people get off with plea bargaining charges down very much like Jaffer has done. Do I think political interference by the Harper government. No! I do think that those outraged by the sentence being plea bargained down should take their anger out on the provincial LIBERAL government in power in Ontario who allowed Jaffer to plea bargain these charges down. Put the blame where it belongs! It was an Ontario court and it was the OPP and an Ontarion Crown attorney responsible. I don`t think Jaffer was treated any different than anyone else who has the money to hire the right people to bargain for them.It goes on all the time. There is lots of things the Harper can be called to account for ,but this is not one of them.

This creature ,if guilty,was masquerading as an officer and a gentleman. Because a politician or neighbour was in this guys company should not reflect on politicians,or friends in passing who were in some cases required to associate with this Colonel. The cretin ,if guilty, was probably good at his job to rise to Colonel. His sins should not reflect on the rest of our military as the vast majority are honourable,devoted and great Canadians. If he was a burger flipper would we look with jaundice eyes at all burger flippers? I hope we have discovered the perp who committed these horrible acts so that our streets are safer and justice will be served as best it can.

It is pretty hard to defend Khadr. What was a Canadian doing on a battlefield in Afganistan fighting our own forces. I know for you Yank haters it was just American soldiers ,but they could have just as well been fellow Canadians. It did not help much that his Mother and Sister condemned him with their anti Canadian views while bringing their wounded boy home to get free health care. Treason is the only way I can feel about this family. Our soldiers are in harms way doing our bidding. They will on the most part go willingly and from speaking to them ,they believe they are helping the downtrodden mass` of Afganistan from a life of terror and extreme Islam. We do not need to show leniency to home grown treachery. Lock them up for a very long time. Fifty years ago when I was not so leniant, kind hearted and benevlent I would have called for their necks to be stretched.

Any Canadian who plans to fight for the enemy of our country and military should be tried for treason and if found guilty should be incarcerated for the remainder of their lives.This is a war we are involved in. Our fine young soldiers are in harms way. Canadian citizenship should be taken seriously either if your an immigrant or born here. You can only serve one country.

I have to question those who view Harper as not worthy of living at the official residence of the Prime Minister. Did you feel the same about Liberal PM`s who were in a minority who took up residence on Sussex Dr? Would you deprive Layton (shudder)if he were PM in a minority situation? What did you have to say at the time of minority Liberal PM`s? Or is just a prejudice against Harper? Or would it matter who was leader of the Conservative Party? I look forward to some thoughtful answers.

We have an electoral system that elects MP`s to the house from parties or individuals. The Party that elects the most MP`s has the right to form government and put their leader into Sussex Dr. Unless a coalition can be formed of two or more parties or independanr MP`s to form a government and put their leader into 24 Sussex. The system is not perfect ,but it is ours. Our PM no matter what party he comes from has the right to move into 24 Sussex Dr. I want our PM to be able to live comfortably and entertain guests from home or abroad in a manner that reflects on the Canadian people. living in an apartment is not a viable alternative to drafty old 24 Sussex.

Our country is going to great expence to do body scanning. Why? We know that for the past thirty years it has been young Muslim men who have been responsible for blowing up or trying to blow up aircraft. That is not racist ! That is a fact. The majority of young Muslim men are much like the rest of us. They want get on an aircraft knowing it is safe and they will reach their destination. So do the rest of the Muslim world.Surely they can see the reason for profiling! Then why is it we refuse to profile? If it was old white Christian Wasps blowing up aircraft for some dopey cause I would want to be profiled.

In the west you can be born dirt poor and with honest toil and initiative you can rise above the station you are born into and create wealth to give your offspring a n even better start. In communist states you have few choices in determining your future and wealth along with freedom of movement and opinion. One must be aware of the Stalinists like Putin who want to white wash Stalin`s murderous record.

Uh Iggy. We have not been doing much so called peace keeping for a long,long time. Then there was Somalia! What was that failure about?Ever since Dallaire let those Belgium soldiers die in Rawanda as he covered his eyes and drove by them being slaughtered we have not been doing much. Liberal or Conservative. Peace keeping is where there exists a peace. Look at our Brigade in Germany after WW2 for reference. NATO was prepared to keep the peace through force of arms. Not blue helmets. Unless there is willing forces on either side of a conflict who want peace ,UN forces can do very little and are a waste of time.

Iggy is in to big hurry to be PM! He has surrounded himself with glory seekers telling him what a shoe in he is to be PM if he forces an election. He has no issues to excite the country. Harper warts and all will win with a bigger minority and then it is back to academia for Iggy.

I found the interview on the Coran show very interesting. Shona ,I thought was very fair and was looking for compromise in health care between American and Canadian systems.
