  1. OK. How's this for trivia? Jordan and Egypt have had peace treaties with Israel for decades now. Are they not Arabs? Have they attacked Israel since signing those treaties? Why do you keep demonizing and scapegoating all Arabs? Here are a few other Arab countries that have not attacked Israel for decades: Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tunisia, Dubai, Algeria... Jordan has had treaties with Israel since before the 1948 war when Abudllah met with Golda Meir and agreed not to attack Israeli territory. Jordan kept its word. If only Israel had returned the favour! Instead it attacked Jordanian troops and tried to take Jerusalem. Treachery! This is what Arab rulers have come to expect from Israel. Nasser was holding back-room peace talks with Israel after the 1948 war when Ben Gurion sent terrorists into Cairo to blow up cinemas and mail boxes and Ariel Sharon massacred an entire police outpost in Gaza. That outpost was there to keep Palestinian Arabs in their refugee camps so they would not go back into Israel. Treachery! And poor Lebanon! It moved its Palestinian refugee camps back from the Israeli border into Beirut so the Palestinians could not sneak back across the border and attack Israelis. How did Sharon reward them in the 1980s? Treachery! This is history. Read it yourself! Great response and thanks for pointing out the facts, as opposed to domionist/zionist myth. I tell you those dominionists need to stop reading Hick's and Combee's accounts of history.
  2. Race baiting JBG? Because it has been pointed out to you that your broad brushing of all Arabs is a non-starter. Israel has all kinds of treaties with Arab nations. The reality is Palestine, and they had not a thing to do with 911. Nor did Afghanistan or Iraq.
  3. Gibberish. On the one hand you say the distribution of power is unrelated to gender, yet, on the other, acknowledge the distribution of power is divided on gender lines. If power has nothing to do with gender, why the inequality? Your own alaysis logically leads to the conclusion that gender is the factor. black dog, that is the whole thing about dominionists, they get on this nonsensical rant that has discrepancies that they cannot cognitively align, and that points to the error and fallacy in their rants/beliefs, but it still does not stop them.
  4. Still trying to rewrite history and the facts hey Catchme. I think we've already discused all of this in previous threads, and if i remember correctly you failed to make or prove your case then. As for your piont that peacekeeping operations out numbered actual NATO operations is true, keeping in mind that just because we send out one or two soldiers on most of these peacekeeping ops does not imply that we put more effort or time into peacekeeping. No actually, I am stopping people like you from re-writing history. Good to see you left you self an escape route by saying we actually did do more peace keeping missions than NATO, as I said, but which you still tried to say first I did not prove my case of. Not so nice false herring with your commentary of; "one or two soldiers" went on these peace keeping ops. and frankly yes it does, mean we put more time and effort into it or a longer period of time than any NATO operation. As I said, we should have had our military pulled when Osama stopped being looked for. We have absolutely NO buisnees there as a country. Now even the Afghan senate has said, negotiations must take place, just as Jack said a year ago. BTW, it is Afghans to whom Canadians should be listening to here, not our military personell, and they want us GONE.
  5. Actually, that is a mistruth especially when the linked to report said 45 million Americans had NO access to health care, perhaps actually reading the article would save you the embarassment of saying such a thing... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ jdobbin Health care in Canada needs its funding back. This would be for things like; seniors and disabled continuing care and independant living programs. Plus affording smaller hospitals in rural areas the ability to have surgeries and deliver babies again. that would take a huge burden off of surgical wait lists and afford Drs the ability to live in smaller communities who are also surgeons. They do not locate nowadays, when they used to, because they cannot keep up their surgical skills. The discrepency in health care budget figures between Canada England, New Zealand and Austrailia for monies spent, IMV is because the area coverage is smaller. The large distances between places in Canada, means a huge additional expense to health care services. There should have been an area coverage done in the study. But none the less, health care costs in the USA are double Canada's and some would say we would be better off. No, we would be better off telling those who advocate a USA health care system where to go with there stuff and nonsense.
  6. NA feels measurably more sane, and IMO, a chunk of the anti-Christ died today, now that Falwell is dead.
  7. Great points kuzadd, it is a real kicker that children in Catholic schools were lied to, as it is with those being de-educated in the dominionist lies regarding history and all things social. IMV, the children who are having these lies foisted upon them today, will turn away from those who did the lying, just as kids have always done. It is too bad though, that the parents doing the lying today, are the ones who are going to be hated, as opposed to a clergy person who lied in the past.
  8. scribblet, don't have to cite a thing, need only to indicate that Harper broke one of his 5 promises. Healthcare fixing. He has done nothing, thereby is insurring Martin's gutting of it remains. white doors, lol, trying to tie the charter of rights into this topic is unbelievable and hilarious. dominionists as in the religious theo-cons, nice try at deflecting, but no cigar. Only thing we Canadians need remember is those who say the USA's healthcare is superior are lying for their own ends.
  9. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6658799.stm And the video Israeli TV leaked that Israel does not want you to see. http://www.ichblog.eu/index.php?option=com...ctlink&id=55882 It is absolutely sickening actually, and some would portray Israel as passive western democracy that is being maligned falsely.
  10. It seems Jack Layton is by far the most in tune, honest and aware politician in Ottawa. He was soundly derided last year because of his suggestions of negotiations. Yet a year later we have this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070508/wl_nm/afghan_dc Now don't those people who derided him look like the fools they are!
  11. Well, here is a heads up for those dominionists and others who have been brainwashed into thinking the USA health care system is better than universal health care. Yes, Canadian health care is in a mess and that is because of Paul Martin and now Stephen Harper's efforts to destroy it to better assist the deep integration between the USA and Canada. http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?alias=us-...&modsrc=reuters
  12. Easy now. Believe me, there is no one I listen to less than dominionists. I actually am basing my opinion on what I percieve in commercials I actually see. Women don't seem to be negatively represented, unless you consider sexy negative. (I don't.) But I remember seeing some old-style ads or even shows where there was a lot of 'humor' involving women being stupid or absurdly incompetent. Now men are cast in that same role, and I don't see it as any funnier or appropriate, frankly. Well, Betsy is spouting nothing but Dominionist propaganda in this gender baiting thread in the affirmative. Women being cast in the sexy role is negative and harmful to women actually. Seriously, actually take a day and watch TV and see how many commercials depict women foolishly and men, keep score and you will find your premise off base, as off base as Betsy's are.
  13. Interesting that you say no one values critical thinkers, especuially not employers, when in fact quite the opposite is true. In fact, why would one advocate against critical thinking unless one believed in indoctrination and cultish thinking? This commentary against critical thinking is typical Dominionist lies.
  14. The only reason will be because not of the CPC's success in coalition governing but they are scared to death of an election they know they will lose. And the Bloc are being equally self serving in not bringing down the government.
  15. RB, it sounds like you are self-idenifying to what you are describing. When you say this: sans the "real" commentary, you are actually speaking feminism and equality talk. Redux is, men have an advantage not because of their ingenuity, but because of their superior muscle, and at first the physical oppression of women, and other men, historically, and currently by entrenched sexist biases that are artificial in construct.
  16. Perhaps what your really might want to say is that one group of christians were opposed to surgery while another group of Christians were eager to advance it. I actually did say that by putting Christians in quotes and then later stating there were types of Christians and giving the definition of that type as being "narrow minded".
  17. Yes, in order to do the gymnastics to come to this point; "Canada... has always had more NATO involvement", they of course add the equipment and personell in; WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the whole Yugoslavia debacle, and say "Canada as a nation....". Ignoring the truth that the majority of actions were peace keeping, they just did not have the personell and equipment numbers. Canada supposedly went to Afghanistan as part of the 911 actions of finding Osama and Al Qeada. And to participate in the reconstruction as promised by NATO. The mission to find Osama stopped after 3 months there. So too should have our military involvement.
  18. Well, I think perhaps the following link might give someeone good perspective on what Manning might say. http://www.harperindex.ca/index.cfm,
  19. Betsy, is, way off base in her erroneous gender baiting. August pointed out some reasons why s/he is. And I can point out to any number of commercials that depict women in a negative light, in as much, or more, as any depicting men suchly. Try watching TV one day and keep track eh?! Instead of listening to the absolute hogwash that is being distributed by the Dominionists.
  20. Exactly, it was the "Christians" who did not want surgery to occur ever, when surgery was a brand new science, and fought against its legalization because it was not God's will. Segments of that religiousity have carries forward to today as well.We all know about the Muppets creator Jim Henisson (sp) and others like him who died needlessly because they believed God will cure. Those type of "Christians" were in error back then, and so too are those today, who hold such narrow minded superstitions. Again it is not God who is poison, it is those who try to make God into their own image, and call it religion.
  21. No doubt, it is nice that the NDP, under Doer, built a rainy day fund, that could be used when that rainy day came. Crown Corps should not be having surpluses, if they do, that means they are robbing the citizens who own the Crown Corps. Good for Doer for taking it back and giving it to the people where it was needed to go. The health care problems arise in the same manner across Canada, and it started under Paul martin who slashed and cutted health Care transfer payments to the provinces.
  22. Nice try on the strawman argument to try and discredit the study betsy, it is an absolutely inane and erroneous compare of a study done by a reputable university, to a hypothetical one, that exists only in your imagination, undertaken by Clifford Olsen. The negative emotional appeal, hatred and bigotry that such a analogy expresses is decidedly Dominionist in presentation and dialectics. Discourse of that type really does not belong in Canadian society.
  23. No David Suzuki is not evil, he is interested in facts, and is qualified to speak, as he has been for years. Nor is he interested in power. Now some people, who would fit the evil bill on every level, including greedy grasping, power hungry liars, and who are not qualified in anything, let alone the environment, yet they spout off continually about it, and everything else are: Jan and Paul Crouch, Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn, James Dobson and all the other prominent Dominionist leaders, and pastor middle men.
  24. Social competence is a pretty wide net that captures pretty much every quality that matters, as far as I can see. What other areas were you thinking of? That's what I'm concerned about. This 'study' is only 74 pages, and yet uses wide sweeping terms to encompass it's findings. Yet it's only 74 pages, and they didn't do any of their own research. Another report I read said this study cost $25,000. That is simply not enough money to do anything more than a white wash. Obviously they didn't read any of the many studies out there that show a direct relation between the father being in the home and an absence of crime, improved academic performance, and reduced pregnancy rates. This is actual slander against a university and the professor and students who did this study. Concordia University has as an excellent reputation, especially for conducting sociological studies. What the study entailed was taking the findings of 240 other studies --no small amount-- and compiling the results for overall picture. You misrepresent the truth and accuracy in your zeal to discredit, because apparently you do not like the results. doesn't quite mesh with the Dominionist view of the world eh?!.
  25. Really? When were the forced conversions and who were the converted? Throughout the whole British Empire's colonialistic history. Just have a gander through "real history". Really, do research world history and put away Hicks and Combee's false books that they have erroniously labelled as history. The British Empire was NOT controlled by the Church of England, anymore than the Queen now controls the Britian. As you said: I mean what after all is "ruled by definition'? Other than absolutely nothing. It is a verbal construct that says nothing and means less. The British Empire was not a theocracy, except by way of the fact that at differing times, the monarchy was also the head of the Church of England. Except of course for that oh so brief and ugly time under Cromwell. What they did was they pushed their religious beliefs upon the peoples. Which is basically why, it is NO LONGER a Monarchy, but a democracy. It was the religious wars, and other activities resulting from religious factions, that prompted the founders of the NEW World, meaning the USA and Canada, not to have a "state religion" they built countries where "freedom of religion" was the foundation. Also, the British Empire did not build schools and hospitals, the people did. Whether it was done under the auspices of a religious order, a united group/organization of people, or communities themselves, it was built by the people. The British Empire was very good at taking, and did very little giving. Nor did the British Empire truly end slavery.
