  1. hahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....
  2. Yes he can have a Majority as can anyone else whom is able to win Electoral districts with at least one more vote the competitors have. It has been this way since Confederation. And this percentage is brought up after each election by people who are often on the short end of the stick. The PM is allowed to appoint to the Senate. Look at those lovely appointments over the past few years. Class acts.. so many of them.... yup... I am sure they could get elected .... oh wait a minute... I guess some couldn't win a general election .... could they. Well its tough times out there. Conservative Prime Ministers Harper has given them a job. One they couldn't earn.
  3. Unlike the Liberals, Conservatives..etc.. No Sitting CCF or NDP MP have taken a seat on the Senate. The Patronage Appointments often Cross party lines. There is 70 years of history. Ignore it if you like. But its clear that you have NO idea how much this party interest in abolishing the Senate is, let alone any interest in being a participant in it.So what if Harper only Appoints Conservatives Hacks and Failed and disgraced Conservative MPs and Bagman. That is his right. It doesn't mean it is right. Well won't this be interesting when the time comes then. Until then, Lets Watch the Conservative Prime Minister line the Senate with losers.
  4. You mean money like this..... http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/04/06/harper-promises-to-compensate-quebecs-hst-adoption/ The Conservatives say their promise to compensate Quebec to the tune of $2.2 billion for its adoption of the HST will not have any adverse effect on their efforts to eliminate the deficit by 2015. Last week, the Conservatives signed a deal with Quebec that promised the compensation amount by next September if they are re-elected. Some observers see the deal as a way of assuaging the province after the Tories pledged a multibillion-dollar loan guarantee for the Lower Churchill hydro project in Newfoundland and Labrador. Harper defended the agreement, saying the outlines of an HST deal with Quebec were in the words before the election campaign began, and that “it will not change the overall downward path of the deficit over the next few years.”
  5. With regards to the issue of the Senate the CCF/NDP has a 70 + Year track record. They have been given the chance and never took the bait. But I am enjoying this Conservative Move. Really shows true integrity of the Prime Minister. Bravo Prime Minister Harper....
  6. to the rest of the comments... There are only Conservative apologists and the suckers they are playing... Lets ignore this and carry on, they are just as bad if not worse then the others... The voters have chosen to give the party of Contempt a Majority and they are going to use it.
  7. Sorry, but the CCF/NDP haven't been this scummy in their 70 years of existence.
  8. There is a much better way of looking at this. #1) Bryan Says "People at the doors thought this was a cheap stunt" #2) Saipan says "What Contempt" Obviously, the Contempt charges were real. However what was NOT obvious to the people was the implications of being guilty of Contempt. The burden to make the issue relevant to the voting electorate fell on Ignatieff. It was the Liberals whom drafted up the non confidence motion because of the ruling of contempt. There are many many things that are important to the public. Contempt is one of them, but it has to be explained and it has to be important enough to them that it is an election issue. It was important to them, but not important enough for an election. The fact that Ignatieff failed miserably to make his case is his own fault. The contempt would stay regardless of whether there was or was not an election. Just as the fraud charges will continue against Harpers Senate appointed bagman as parliment continues on. However, if you want people to be as hyped up about these issues as those in Ottawa, a case , a strong case has to be made. Ignatieff NEVER made that case. By the end of the campaign many people still didn't know why there was an election and many thought the government fell on the budget... and it didn't. But if the publics not aware, that is the fault of Ignatieff as its his role as leader to get a message out. Compare that with both Harper and Layton. Harper message was to ignore those charges and play down the issue, while asking for a Stable Conservative Majority government. Laytons message was for Change and an orange soda beverage, that appeared quite tasty in Quebec but also had flavour across the Provinces and territorys. Ignatieffs message was to pick a Blue Door or Red Door. Giving the choice, people chose the blue door for the majority government and people choose not to use the red door unless they wanted the same old, so many millions more then ever before choose the Fridge door, to a cold bottle of Orange Crush. This was not about the "moral values" of the electorate. The Electorate was given choices based on the presentations made to them. At the end of the day people THROW OUT GOVERNMENTS, and the Liberal Prosecutor didn't present enough evidence in the court of public opinion. If you look at what happened in Quebec, they rejected all of the status quo because politics had become so stale and entrenched and it was that "NEW BREED" of voters who ushered in change. And that is a difficult feat considering many of those new voters in Quebec grew up only knowing a separtist and conflict based environment. There the public went for a house cleaning. In each province, different sets of local issues determined the outcomes. For this election and the outcomes of it, you have to blame the messenger and the stale, elite driven party he represented. The emporer had no clothes.
  9. It's common for people on MLW to have no idea how equalization payments work. Equalization payments do not, technically, involve wealthy provinces making payments to poor provinces a wealthy citizen in New Brunswick, a so-called "have not" province, pays more into equalization than a poorer citizen in Alberta, a so-called "have" province. However, because of Alberta's greater population and wealth, the citizens of Alberta as a whole are net contributors to Equalization, while the citizens of New Brunswick are net receivers of Equalization payments. Anyways, this formula is never going to change and some people are going to make hay of it no matter what. Perhaps most startling is that Until 2010 Ontario had never been on the receiving end of "equalization payments" and quite frankly the difference was so marginal, they should have refused it... if not just for prides sake.... Provinces can technically are to use these monies for services but ultimately do what they want with these monies and that includes giving it away in Corporate tax cuts. So, if one believes that Albertans pay into and Quebec receives, well, just remember that those nice corporations with Head offices in Quebec are getting a nice gift...
  10. The Campaign Promise was rediculous to begin with.. They governments running a $50billion deficit, and once 2015 comes they will be paying another $40Billion in new Prisons and F35 jets that aren't included in the current budget... Increased Spending combined with reduced revenues = deficit.. Conservatives blew the 2006 surpluses handed to them by 2008. I don't think anyone took their election promise seriously, not even them.
  11. Congrats Michael.. BTW, I just discovered something strange. I have NEVER put anyone on Ignore, infact I don't mess with any settings because its not worth my time. I just discovered a whole list of people who have been put in "Ignore". I have just fixed this, but I wonder how this could have occurred? I like reading everyones posts , no matter how painfully stupid or brilliant they are..
  12. Of course its not easy, which is why those that have performed well are many of the best Provincial Premiers Canada has ever had. Just the same, its the reason why the NDP has the most balanced budgets of any political party, and that doesn't include the Tommy Douglas era of 5 terms of Consecutive Balanced budgets..
  13. Well JBG, you got your history wrong on that one, and likely you will get it wrong on many of the things Ed Broadbent and the NDP stood up for during his era. The Gas Tax implemented by the Conservatives was EXPECTED to be supported by their Social Credit Cousins. By this time the Social Credit, forerunner to the Reform Party, had managed to establish itself in Quebec and the Quebec MPs weren't given the time of day by the Clark Conservatives. The Social Credit did not support the Gas Tax increase and we went to an election after 9 short months. The Social Credit/Credistes.. were wiped off the electoral map.. never to be seen again. 7 years later Preston Manning revived and improved upon the party that his father was in, and managed to rebrand a new western populist movement. The NDP welched on nothing. They stood up against the Gas Tax, just like they did when the HST was applied in Ontario and BC and just like they stood against the Consumption taxes of the GST all Brought in by the Conservatives.
  14. Nice quote Mr. Canada. A good way to understand this is WATER Should one put the profit of Water ahead of the Social and Individual needs that water provides?
  15. LOL.. I doubt the NDP want anything to do with Bob Rae... or ...Ujjal Dosanjh When Provincial Conservatives Premiers destroy their party, the Party just invents a new name and moves on. When Failed NDP Premiers botch things up, they move to the Liberals... and now... where do they go.... I believe the NDP view of these two is goodbye and Good riddence..and has been for quite some time.. Neither were good New Democrats or Good Leaders..once getting the reigns of power..
  16. This 3 Time Conservative MP received almost no media backlash when his online Biography stated he Graduated from the University of Ottawa..... Royal Galipeau, the Tory MP for Ottawa-Orléans, faced a similar problem during the campaign. The Ottawa Citizen reported that he had to retract a claim on his online biography that he graduated from the University of Ottawa. Its just not as fun of a story when an Established 2 time Conservative MP has a false declaration... Nor does he look as nice...
  17. I don't think it happened at the last minute at all.... Following the trends, it was a clear CPC wave happening that was steady as she goes. And many many many Liberal votes swung to the CPC. On the same note, to a smaller degree was a minor wave in Ontario for the NDP where some candidates jumped from 3rd or 2nd to first. But the Red team was dividing itself into 2 and depending on the riding, 2/3s of those leaving the party went CPC and 1/3 went NDP, which was enough to put one or the other ahead of the LPC. The LPC were lucky to hold onto what they did and didn't meet the fate of the former PCs in 1993.
  18. I am glad to see the BQ reduced to a carload of seats.
  19. Mr. Pegasus, you sound like a person that is full of it...I have a very hard time reading this thread and believing a single sentence coming from the new poster. Little of what is said adds up. I sense a credibility issue. And I would think this is the last place someone would show up at if this was true, especially considering the feeding frenzy that just went on in the press. Go to the media and back up your claims..... I would like to see an answer to some of your claims Particularly this whopper you have posted on this forum. I went out and collected signatures (which took me a few days) and ended up with more than the 100 necessary As this process doesn't happen until after one has received a nomination and these forms come from Elections Canada. So short of registering as an Independent, you would still require a witness, cfo and campaign manager. Good luck with your tall tale...
  20. There is a suprise coming for the Conservatives. It will be funny when it happens.
  21. LMAO!!! This sounds really bad.
  22. Can u link me to that? I am unaware of Harper losing his cool?
