Coalition: September 2004, December 2008 & Now
madmax replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There are more then 4 parties. And there are also independents. People have their choice of who to vote for as their MP. Ignatieff has made a huge concession as a Liberal during an election. They usually think their is only one party, one choice and one traditional governing party and that is NOT the Conservatives. I thought you were smarter then to be a chicken nodder to Coalition copouts. -

The Conservative Government will Fall over the....

LOL I don't think he will be banned, but its good fun to go to the political compass. Thanks for bringing that back up. And this is the best circus on the net. Tell us what u really think -
I see the Conservatives getting a majority if they can pull off their gambit. If accountability trumps coalition scare, then they are going to come short of a Majority again. The Conservatives always find a way to lose and most of the public don't trust them with a majority. There is a sense of "Give them a majority and get on with it, until they start looking at this group of Conservatives who really are sub par in everyway. The best thing the Cons have going for them is Ignatieff. He is a rookie and could likely pull many of the same gaffes as Harper or Dion did in their first campaigns. Jack Layton is a master campaigner and as always, is underestimated. A master of the squeeze play and a media savy politician. The more that criticise him the more seats and % he gains. If the Liberals don't gain traction, then the contempt of the conservatives and their disdain for democracy come to the forefront, it may be the NDP that gains from an Liberal Messaging. The NDP is a party of margins. A .5% change can cost them 10 seats or gain them 10 seats. NDP gains are split in Conservative and Liberal Held Ridings. THis is an early prediction. I may well change it. So far the campaigns appear to be the LPC and the CPC throwing mud. Power quality American Style attack adds almost as if written in 1970s US campaigns. Will the CPC smear campaign gain traction? They are trying to drum up support against 2 year old propoganda pieces. Yet that may bring attention back to Prorogation which had over 85% support against and had the Cons running for cover. Its early, I saw the media and MLW pundits blow it completely with the NDP on the budget. Seems they were all lost and jaw dropped. Never read or believe your own press clippings and propaganda. And thats just what happened this week. Lets see how the government goes down and if the public pays attention to the contempt and corruption. I think the CPC has money to burn to help form public opinion. But then again, if the public knows that the IN and OUT scam was a direct political action that results in defrauding the tax payer, the ghost of adscam may reappear but in blue clothes. Interesting times ahead.

Yes, Harpers Close adviser and fixer was a convicted Fellon. Many Conservative MPs want these Convicts to remain in jail. (If they aren't working for the Conservative Party). Excuses can be made for some. Actually, its very likely this convicted fellon with a history of violating the law and defrauding clients is going to get burned for cooking up a scam. Sure u can, and you are going to have to in order fill up your prisons. Ask Saipan who has been advocating just that with his beloved Conservative Government. Harper Can appoint Carson and his prostitute to the Senate.

No kidding. Thats cause he got caught! The story was going to break the news. CUT BAIT CUT BAIT... And I believe Kimmy is defending these actions as a non event. And where is Helena now???

Tories ask a last minute meeting with NDP
madmax replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Pundits job was to make something that was nothing, entertaining. HUH? I do have quite a few New Democrat Pundits and Friends and I never heard from one that there was going to be any kind of support for the budget and that their base was emphatic that Layton choose "leave it" in a "take it or leave it" proposition. All amendments will go nowhere. Its just moving deck chairs around on the titanic. The train has left the station, its just a matter of Corruption of Budget and who gets the throw the switch on the electric chair. Clearly there was alot of Liberal Propoganda before the budget and the Conservatives did an excellent job of leaking itsy bits of the budget to frame their election campaign. Still a couple more days of manipulation coming ... Its almost like a game of survivor. Outwit, outplay, outlast. Everyone knows the end is nigh. -

The CPC wants to give Quebec the $2billion in HST , but just didn't want to admit it to their base. Particularly in the context of the Budget. I am undecided. The Cons May get the Majority and then lord help us all. Let the Kleptomania begin. Or they could lose a handful of seats in the shuffle that normally happens. It may bring them a slice of humble pie, but the CPC remind me of the mouthy kid that never shuts up. In the meantime, the CPC will be so busy, they won't have time to get involved in another scandal. -

No, I really enjoy our American friends thread drift. Sorry if the Republican is unable to stay on message. Other great tall tales from BC2004 include Americans Freedom to Travel to Cuba. As was said before. Ignatieff and Bush Cheney 2004 will be reunited before the year is out. -

Canadians don't pay as much, so you can't receive as much. However on a dollar for dollar expenditure the Canadian system is more effective. The US system has diminishing returns and of course the failure at the lower end of the spectrum is a disgrace. Ironically, I grew up with some self made "Millionaires" in the 60s. Infact their monies were quite extensive by the 90s and they had been in the states from late 70s onwards. Then I discovered this year that they returned to Canada about 4 years ago. Broke with Medical Bills while in their retirement. I was shocked, totally shocked. I don't know how this could have happened. Now they are here, on our dime and we are looking after their medical needs. -

Many people in the US don't have an "Insurance Card". About 40 Million infact. -
Lets hope we do, Theres alot of deadwood Conservatives that need to be swept out. It would be great if it happened at the riding associations where they could install some talent in these electable ridings. Instead of electing these people they have a pulse and a blue vest on. Thats not going to happen in the top down Blue party. The days of grassroots reform are past and we are likely a generation away from another serious house cleaning. So, it looks like Incompetence and corruption may be the norm for awhile.

Ask Fortier, Finley and other Conservative bagman if there is any stolen money left?
-
Its rediculous to defend a convicted Fraud artist who has been embedded with the Conservatives for Decades, when he sets up a skimming scheme that diverts monies to an Escort in order to skirt various lobbying rules. This dirty laundry is not something you want to hang up on the line. Some Conservatives have great difficulty understanding ethics and ethical behaviour. I think you are grasping at straws defending this convicted fellon. I thought the Conservatives were getting tough on crime?

What do you think of Ad about Ignatieff's family?

I see no value in defending the ill thought actions of the Conservative Attack adds. Each to their own. -

Moonbox is not a hack such as yourself. You drool over everything Liberal. Moonbox to me, from reading his posts, represents the traditional Canadian Mindset, as does Wild Bill, Kimmy, and many others on here. Other posters are simply partizan hacks, such as yourself, Scribblet, Punked, Mr. Canada etc. And what you will find is that even us who like to poke fun with our Politics, like M Dancer, have problems accepting the posts of rabid syrupy partizan hacks. Thus its people such as you, who turn off people like Moonbox, who, from what I can read, is fiscally reponsible, fairly Liberal socially, and has many times agreed with or stated NDP positions unknowingly although he would never vote for such a party. But he is a well thought out non partizan swing voter. You have come on here and posted thousands of self righteous and incorrect and often contradictory syrupy posts of all things Liberal. Moonbox has been posting for years and has a track record that is solid. Only a fool like you would overlook his posts regarding Corporate Tax cuts, (and this coming from someone with an understanding of the corporate world) and attack him, simply because he doesn't agree with you or your attitude. You can be a Liberal or a Conservative or a New Democrat, but you don't have to be annoying. Or you can be Annoying like M.Dancer, but at least he is funny. NOT I take the Oda defence should this post violate any forum rules -

I looked at the poll results and have to laugh. I don't think there are 5 New Democrats on this forum. -
For a person like you... either a nose plug or new party. Ironically you reside in the regions that the NDP tossed out the LPC. And I believe you actually have some of the best and hardest working MPs regardless of their party or whether you agree with them. So, Clearly some are going to vote NDP, and some are going to grab nose plugs, some are going to stay home and some may just go back to the Liberals and what the Emerson effect all over again. Unfortuneately there are few Chuck Cadmans in Politics. I don't see alot from the Liberals except a desire that its "Their turn" and they would do things different? Much depends on the Candidate and the Representation they give. I have found that on average the NDP MPs give the best constituent support and do so in order to maintain their jobs. There are others in CPC and the LPC that are also good Constituent Politicians. Others reside on pork or the fact that they have a default Red or Blue riding and don't have to earn their supper. Bev Oda comes to mind. Regardless, I value my vote. I find it has more power if I can move it around and it has no power if not used. For many Conservatives I don't think there is enough mud to make them move their vote. But there is enough mud to make them be concerned about the direction of the party and the background of the people behind the scenes. This patronage and pork show is the furthest from Reform I can imagine. It felt like somehow the old PCs swallowed Reform. It seemed impossible, but if you look at what happened, it seems Harper was a reformer of Convinience. He feels more Republican and with all the dirt that goes with that.
