Preston Manning says that the Harper Government is bad
madmax replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
While I actually am disgusted by the first post in this thread.. which is a total twist on what Mr. Manning said... I do believe that the intent of the Conservative Government has been to find a fall guy for this since the story first broke. Particularly pointing the finger at the Conservative Operative Sonsa , the National Conservative Campaign Representative and Conservative Staffer who quickly resigned when the fingers were pointed at him. He said he wasn't guilty earlier... my guess.. he may have a change or heart. He stated that someone else was responsible and hoped the guilty party would come forward. So... Will it Be Sona Or is it someone completely different... And will this be enough to explain all the misleading calls across many ridings. And of course.. Damage Control has already been done.. Expect this one to get buried....I believe someone involved is going to be odd man out and the others will circle the wagons and insulate themselves.... -
I have no posts comparing Harper to a Dictator..

Don't confuse a poll regarding voting preference and interpret to mean something else. People do care about electoral fraud. At this time.. nothing that has been brought forth has moved the polling numbers... and why should it? Chretien , Adscam, Shawinigate.. and a myriad of other issues.. people did care about... that didn't mean they would trust a change in government regardless.. that position eventually changed over time.. My personal view is that this current government can go deeper in the mud then Mulroney and is already deeper in debt then any other government in Canadian History. Therefore.. I expect things will get far worse before they get better , if you are going to see a change in polling numbers....

TOAST!!! People who Embellish for political gain, get burnt and the offenders will get off. I have seen this in Criminal and Civil Cases where the Prosecutor/Litigator go one step to far and then they lose their credility, and even if guilty offender gets off... -

Well Said!!! -
Thats true with anything political. Even if it is true "some" Tories are guilty, it will depend on how much slack the public are prepared to give the government. A change of government will occur when people tire of such nonsense and no government is immune. Until then... Investigative Reporters, Elections Canada, RCMP and others will continue to follow this story, even when it falls off the political radar, because of the nature and scope, I don't believe this is going to go away. I don't believe every guilty party will get fingered.. but someone is going to go down.... just wait till one breaks ranks and starts talking as the heat gets on them..

Impersonating Elections Canada is Fraudulent and illegal. I am sure that all of Mr. Prescotts evidence has been sent to Elections Canada Prescott, a self-described cellphone expert, followed up a few minutes later with another tweet claiming that these phone calls were “using spoofed Caller-ID of Burke campaign. I ‘wonder’ who it could be ...” I am curious to know what information Andrew Prescott The Conservative Deputy Campaign Manager found regarding Lisa Raits Riding of Halton.. He also sent a public Twitter message to CBC blogger Kady O’Malley, speculating the Liberals’ internal polling “must be REALLY BAD, voter suppression calls in Guelph AND Halton ... anywhere else?” Mr. Prescott tweet on "Suppression Tactics" believed they were from the Liberal Party and spoke about this 2 days before Eday. Very Interesting...

Election Canada is doing its job.... That is why the Elections Expenses of the Conservatives in Guelph are under investigation. Or do you think that Elections Canada is NOT looking at the Conservative Election Expenses and have not discovered that they have failed to Declare the Election Incurred Expenses to RACKNINE. As well as "Honorariums" to "cell phone experts" This didn't come from Opposition Parties..this information is from Elections Canada. And the media discovered this information in Court documents. -
Thank Keepitsimple.. He thought of it first... FYI anyone reading this who has voted.. can change it..

LOL.. Good answer..and as the Conservatives have nothing to hide.. it shouldn't be a problem for them. Sorry maybe i missed something... The parties implicated by Elections Canada are.. Racknine. RMG, and the Conservative Party. Elections Canada is making requests and being denied by the Conservative Party. The Allegations are still pretty much the same as they were a year ago. The Allegations the Conservatives make against the opposition, Elections Canada, Some of their staff... are different virtually every day. Other parties have offered EC full records.... Infact the other parties records will even show receipts for call centres and electronic calls. None of which has been shown by the Conservatives in the Riding of Guelph.. which is the main source of investigation... let alone anywhere else.. -

Little by Little... drip by drip... -------------------------- In 2010, John Fryer, a member of the Order of Canada and an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria, attended a campaign school training offered by the Conservative-aligned Manning Centre for Democracy. Last week, as news of the robo-call scandal spread across Canada, he was driven to pen a letter to the editor of major Canadian newspapers about the nature of this training. The $249 two-day intensive training program took place from January 22-24, 2010, at the Delta Victoria Ocean Point Resort. The event description on the Manning Centre's website read: "With the potential of an election this spring, the skills you learn at this school can make the difference between winning and losing". March 5: Letters to the editor From Monday's Globe and Mail In January, 2010, my UVic inbox had an e-mail invite from a democracy centre to attend a campaign school. Intrigued, I signed up for the three-day event. Topics covered included voter identification. Discussion ensued about suppression techniques. Instructors explained voter suppression tactics were borrowed from those used by the U.S. Republican Party. Many kinds of suppression calls were canvassed. Another instructor gave detailed explanations of how robo-calls worked, techniques for recording messages, plus costs involved. He distributed his business card upon request. Instructors made it clear that robo-calling and voter suppression were an acceptable and normal part of winning political campaigns. With election ethics like this, a more compelling case for changing to a system of proportional representation where each and every vote counts is hard to imagine. John Fryer, adjunct professor, School of Public Administration, University of Victoria -
I really gotta disagree with that.. Jack Layton provided a very strong platform that contrasted greatly from the lack of platform of the Conservative Party. Especially in the 2008 election when the Conservatives called an election and ran without a platform until the last few days before the end of the campaign. I also believe in the 2011 election.. Mr Layton challenged more then just the Prime Minister he Directly challenged the opposition leadership of Mr. Ignatieff. Mr. Layton would disagree with a conservative position but alway have a proposition in hand. This was true both in election campaigns and during the minority parliment. I agree...

Agreed.. Douglas and Lewis would be far to the left of many current New Democrats..

In 17 years as premier, he produced 17 balanced budgets. " http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/opinion/tommy-douglas-the-pragmatic-socialist/article1806775/?service=mobile

Why not just defend with the truth.. release all records to Elections Canada.. instead the Conservatives avoiding EC makes it look like a coverup... regardless of the position of the opposition. Instead the Conservative Defence has been a series of absurd allegations against anything in sight... Its not the opposition that is making the Conservatives look bad.. -

And a special ballot at the university was disrupted when, according to several students, the Conservative contender’s communications director, Michael Sona, burst in and attempted to grab the ballot box, claiming the vote was illegal. Elections Canada ruled otherwise. Don't mistake the Opinion of Conservative Michael Sona for that of Elections Canada. As in past years, Anne Budra, the Elections Canada returning officer for Guelph, had set up an on-campus polling station allowing students to cast their votes by special ballot, a system used for groups that are often underrepresented on election day Special Ballots occur across all ridings... What the Conservatives can be proud of is that this action successfully removed the Special Ballot from Universities..
