  1. You do realize that the medication he was taking made him Drousy and that he died of his illness sometime after the picture went viral. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt you didn't know that.
  2. I thought Political Parties were exempt from the "Do Not Call Lists" If they aren't then I believe the rules must be changed. THere are multiple persons in the house, for all we know some could be supporters of the party in question. Its rare for a household to vote for one party. Yet one person could request a do not call? Normally what happens is the Party calls for support, if the individual is NOT a supporter, its marked and there is no reason to call the said individual again. Its a waste of resources. However the party will call the house again to ask for other voters in the residence.
  3. Does that mean the Monarchy of Saudi Arabia has to go? The Monarchy of Kuwait? Iran is a democratic theocracy just as we are from a Democratic Monarchy. Our Monarch eventually lost real power, but in Iran, its Theocracy does have power, however, the fact that the public has been electing the Far Right, means that conflict is on the horizon unless someone tones it down. I agree with your last sentence, and the left in Iran was stronger around 8 to 10 years ago. The Problems started when Bush put Iran in the target zone and once the "Axis of Evil" was created, Iran choose to ramp up vs Ramp down, seeing what happened to their enemy Iraq when it ramped down, it made the invasion easier. Iran believes it will be invaded for its oil resources. Iranians believe this as well.
  4. Reform is dead.
  5. You and Tim Hudak can chomp on that one
  6. And McGuinty removed the Special Health Supplement for those with health issues.
  7. 1) China is the new superpower and economic power. What more do you need to know.
  8. I think people may not realize that ever since Ken Taylor, the Canadian Embassy in Iran has always been difficult and relations with Iran very trying. While I don't consider Iran a Global Threat, one must remember they march to a very different drummer and could be unpredictable. I am not surprised are Diplomats have been pulled, I don't believe this is the first or last time. Nor Do I think Iran much cares what we do. My concern would be for any Canadians in Iran, who may require the services of the Embassy which they will not be able to receive. In the end, few here realize that Iran is a democracy and that the people are not as harsh as the right wing government that gets elected.
  9. Hudak like McGuinty misplayed the riding. I don't know who the PCs could misread a riding they have virtually owned. I happened to be in Waterloo yesterday, and there was so much literature kicking around from all parties, it was easy to sit in a Timmies and figure out how each party was playing the riding. In a nutshell, the PCs anti union drivel had little to no impact on a riding with almost no union base so the boogey man couldn't be found. Its a very highly educated , decent paying non union region. Thus those University educated employees currently at risk of losing their employment, would have no connection to the literature being dropped. Whatever is happening in a Union region, would have no bearing on their jobs, its nothing about them. The Liberal Anti Teacher drivel was pointed at saying the UNION friendly NDP would put All day kindergarten at risk and run the deficit even higher. The Liberals were targeting the NDP from what I could find. Obviously this tactic failed in a region where most of the people are proud of their education, and of their teachers and believe in decent pay for professionals. I believe 1 in 3 is University educated and to get there, you gotta have good Public Education. So for whatever reason, the "Crises with teachers" was only stirring up a PC base, but not necessarily the PC voter. Perhaps that is why the Liberal Campaign stunk. Note all candidates had an Educational University Background , teaching, or School Board, much like the Departed Witmer. These hamfisted approaches, to a skeptical riding just didn't fly. The NDP literature I came across appeared very simple. "Don't give McGuinty a Majority". that was it. Pictures of Horwath and Fife, but a very simple message with no attacks on any specific sector. Just to choose the NDP to stop McGuinty. Oh and on a final note, the Sign wars appeared even from all parties from the streets I cruised around on, but again they were the main streets, no idea what it looked like in the neighborhoods.
  10. 1) How about that, the PCs ran a turncoat Liberal candidate, had Private Sector Union help, a MASSIVE FEDERAL BASE and still choked in Vaughn. 2) The Same Voters who kept a PC in for 22 years, rejected an inexperienced candidate, rejected the context in which the PC seat became available, and rejected the arrogance of the Liberal attempt to win a Majority. The Voters did not suffer fools in these by elections. Perhaps you need to recognise that.
  11. NDP vote increased 10,000 to come from a distant 3rd to Victory. Catherine Fife upsets status quo for the win http://www.therecord.com/news/article/794493--fife-roars-to-historic-ndp-win
  12. Did I hear correctly. He owned a Gun Store
  13. It is, as is alot of legislation passed by all governments. I am certain the US has had its fair share of discriminatory legislation over the years.
  14. Two Logs into RackNine, One Browser Window.... 166 [RackNine xxx Matt] Meier provided the following information relating to the use of the 2 IP addresses and clients #45 and #93 between April 30 and May 2, 2011, when the misleading call message and the calling list were uploaded to RackNine and the misleading calls to Guelph electors were made. a) Ip address 64.64.11.139, the proxy server, appears in the session logs 4 times, and was used by client #93, namely Pierre Jones; IP address, 99.225.29.34, appears numerous times in the session logs, and was related to use by client #45, Andrew Prescott, who used other IP addresses as well, outside the April 30 and May 2, 2011 period, which were also recorded in the session logs; c) that by comparing access logs and session logs together, Meier identified that between April 30 and May 2, 2011, both client #45 and client #93 used both IP address 64.64.11.139 and IP address 99.225.28.34 to comunicate with RackNine, as explained in d) through f) below; d) client #93 logged in to a session on May 2, 2011, which was "stored" in RackNine records as "Userid 45" or Prescott. This session were [sic] initiated from IP address 99.225.28.34. There were 3 sessions occurring on May 1 and May 2, 2011, in which client #45 logged in, which were "stored" in RackNine records as "Userid 93" or Pierre Jones. Two (2) of these latter sessions were from IP address 66.64.11.139, one (1) session was from IP address 99.225.28.34; e) the fact that 2 clients were recognized within the single, unique session log record meant that after the initial access, or log onto the RackNine website, the second client user changed the client id record in order to perform some function in the same session on the RackNine database that was specific to that second client user. 167. This correlating of access log and session log information (paragraph 166 c) above) thus indicates both client #45 and #93 used the proxy server to access RackNine and both client numnbers used IP address 99.225.28.34 to access RackNine. 168. Amongst other data, the session logs and the client access log provided to me by Meier on March 6 and 7, 2012 and November 23, 2011, respectively, also show the following: (a) session log information shows that Client #93 last accessed a RackNine webpage at 21:19 on May 1, 2011 via IP address 64.64.11.139. Both access log and session log records show that client#93 then accessed RackNine in a new session, with a new session log entry beginning at 21:20 May 1 which showed that client #93 was communicating from IP address 99.225.28.34. That is, the 2 session events were 1 minute apart, but coming from 2 different IP addresses. Meier told me on May 9, 2012 that he thought that most likely client 93 closed his first session at 21:19 but immeidately returned to the RackNine website, forgetting about going through the proxy server, or thinking that he was still logged in through the proxy; and on May 2, 2011, in 2 separate sessions, clients #93 and #45 were both communicating with RackNine from IP 99.225.28.34 within 4 minutes of each other. Session log information shows that Client #93 last accessed a RackNine webpage at 02:12 on May 2, 2011 (the subject of one session log) and that a new session log was initiated for client #45 at 02:15 on May 2, 2011. As both communicated with RackNine from IP 99.225.28.34 within less than four minutes of each other, it seems that clients #93 and #45 were likely together at this time. In the email to reporters on Monday, Rowland explains his "single browser" theory, based on the above: Paragraph 166.d states that on May 1 and 2, on three occasions Pierre Poutine logged into the Racknine web interface, logged out, and then logged into the Prescott account during the same browser session. This means Poutine logged out of his account, and then logged into the account used for the official calls without closing his browser tab. So it's not just what was reported so far -- that the Poutine account and Prescott account were accessed by the same IP within 4 minutes of each other during the middle of this night. It's also that on three separate occasions, someone with both the Prescott and Poutine account passwords used the same browser window to log into both accounts. Also, Poutine logged into Racknine through the proxy, closed his browser window, and 1 minute later logged in again, but this time forgot to go to the proxy website first, accidentally accessing the site directly. There were two session records for the Poutine account 1 minute apart: the first coming from the proxy, and the second coming from the Burke Campaign's office IP at 99.225.28.34. (p.168.a) This means the Poutine account was accessed on May 2nd from the 99.225.28.34 IP address, the same IP address used for 32 of 41 logins to the Guelph CIMS site. This IP address was used to access CIMS by all 5 of the Guelph volunteers who have CIMS user accounts. The 99.225.28.34 IP address was not only used to access CIMS by all 5 workers, but it was used to access both Poutine and Prescott's Racknine accounts. This is also described in the April 17 ITO in p.169. this could be "pretty great evidence, as it shows that someone had both passwords." His theory, however, rests on the assumption that it was one person who logged into both accounts from the same browser. Former Marty Burke campaign staff have suggested that limited budget forced staffers to share computers, although that wouldn't necessarily explain the less-than-a-minute lapse between client sessions -- particularly in the wee small hours of the morning, as seems to have been the case on May 2, 2011. (It would also suggest that the suspect list would likely be limited to the campaign itself, unless they were also sharing computers with random passersby.)
  15. Not withstanding
  16. Should be interesting.... I like what I have read.
  17. While I know that it is a forum poll, not a Toronto Star Poll, I have to say, a By election is different in that the voter turnout is much much lower, so even if those numbers held water (I can't see it) it is also not out of the realm that many of these people polled won't get to the polls without contact from a party. I believe all 3 parties would have all hands on deck 2morrow and thats going to tell the real story not a poll. Besides, It was only a few months back when WR had an insurmountable lead in Alberta according to all polsters a day before the election and we all know how that turned out for them
  18. 1) The Conservatives were the first to toss Sona under the bus and he said as much. 2) This is a rather strange request. “In an earlier (sworn affidavit) I wrote that Sona called McBain ‘about a campaign of disinformation such as making a misleading poll-moving call,’” Mathews wrote in a footnote on page 30 of the 36-page document. “On checking I realize that in both interviews Mr. McBain … did not recall Sona as relating the call to ‘disinformation’ or about a ‘misleading poll moving call,’ only that he wanted to set up an autodial call that would not track back to the Burke campaign 3) Did you toss in the NDP stuff off the top of your head, cause I didn;t see it in the article. I do know that the person in charge of EC now has been referred to as a good Conservative. 4) I wouldn't want to be any of these and as Sona stated earlier, he hoped the real culprit would come forward. Mathews’ late-May affidavit indicates there were five Burke campaign workers authorized by the party to access CIMS. Sona was not one of them. The five workers with CIMS access were Trent Blanchette, Chris Crawford, Ken Morgan, Andrew Prescott and John White. Prescott has repeatedly denied having any knowledge of the misleading calls. The other four have made no public statement about the matter
  19. Canada has never had a "Closed Economy". It has never had a completely open economy either. I can theorhetically disagree with your argument based on many societies over centuries experiencing good times in closed economies and using government to balance out the different. I guess the first instance I heard of was as a child. His name was Joseph and he convinced the Egyptians to prepare for 7 years feast followed by 7 years famine...... What I would suggest is that it is called GOVERNMENT for a reason, just as a Governor is used on tractor trailers. The intent is control economic forces. Some argue it cannot be done, others argue it can. The reality is that for CENTURIES governments have and will continue to intervene and with all the problems that can limit or create, it is always compared to the wild west of free market and market forces which also do not act like theory would have us to believe. If they did, governments would always take the easy way out. I think you would find few economists to agree with you. There is a different drawback to government intereference but government engagement in an economic downturn generally has an effect that is Neutral to positive in nature. I am sure a government can screw up anything. However, governments allowing for the rush of deregulation in the housing market in the US shows what can happen when Mortgage Greed meets consumption. We did well because we do not allow for No money down, low interest mortgages that are unsustainable to a person making $10 per hour. Yet the "Free Market" in the US went directly down that path. If one considers the Federal move changing the Terms of Mortgages and rolling them back, I consider that sound policy, yet it goes against the free market and could well slow down our housing market. However it will also maintain the stability of the housing market. It is protectionist and limiting to rapid growth and accelleration of the economy. It is why the US had a huge housing boom followed by a housing bust. Now repeat for Stock Markets... and you can see why the US went FUBAR in deregulation.
  20. LOL, I don't know what to say except its the fine print between theory and practice.
  21. Your Point? I can't figure out what you have said?
  22. Yes, it goes back a long ways. One thing though, the longer you are out of power, the less of the bad apples are hanging around. Thus when elected it takes time for those bad apples to spoil the basket. Which appears to be what took down the Liberals more then anything else.
  23. Yes, I heard that too, I also assume it has to do with the government being a minority or in terms of the next election cycle, but I am not certain. One thing I am certain of is that Mulcair understands Quebec Politics which I don't.
  24. The deeper a country moved towards Neo Liberal Economic Policy, the greater the deregulation and the higher the tax cuts for corporations, the bigger the whole. As a country we were buying as many spades as possible. Good thing we ran out of time to get all the spades we wanted. The countries with more spades have been hurt the worst. While I might suggest we have returned a few spades. There is a long ways to go. That is the nature of free open deregulated markets. The Busts will be more dramatic and more difficult to recover then within a more closed and regulated economy.
  25. Considering its the Highest Deficit in Canadian History, I would hope its going down..
