Its a good idea. How could one enforce it. Many of those robocalls come from outside of Canada, and those that don't like a small company like Racknine would have to do is take is room of boxes across the border. The Cost of Robocalls is so affordable and fast, no wonder, its happening. However, I don't think its effective anymore. But I could be wrong, I have no feedback on robocall results, especially when it came to voter id. The combination of Call Centre and Robocall, with a return, push 1 for Con, 2 for Lib, 3 for NDP, 4 for Green, likely help the Conservatives identify alot of voters in 3 or 4 sweeps of a riding. Of course, I don't know what they did with all that information..

1) I would never take Ezra at face value. 2) It is clear to those who follow election financing (and that is very few in any circle) what the Conservatives did. 3) No, infact NO other parties engaged in the In and Out scheme. The laws were CLEAR and the intent results in defrauding the Canadian Taxpayer. 4) Elections Canada DID NOT change the rules halfway through. 5) To do the In and out scheme it goes like this..... 1) Take a dead Con riding like one in Quebec. 2) Max up the Federal Party Contribution to the riding. Up to this point, its normal, though most parties would send monies to a riding in play. Here is where the changes occur. 3) Have the Dead wood riding association that you just put 40,000 in, send it back to contribute to a National Robocall campaign or Call Centre Campaign to support other ridings or anything else the National Campaign wants to spend the money on. Basically the monies isn't used or spent in the riding or for the riding. Now, the Conservatives did this with many deadwood ridings and offered this scheme to many ridings, particularly if they were not going to reach the limit in spending. But I believe they offered many ridings money but the riding would have to return it to the National Campaign or where the National was spending dough. My Conservative local riding Campaign CFO, did not bite.... and for good reason, although they did use all the Federal Call Centre sources and such for a fee, but from monies raised by the local campaign (This is NORMAL). You will have read many riding associations were duped, some without a knowledgeable CFO (this is common as election rules are very plentiful and most people tend to trust what they are told) others accepting the scheme thinking they were clever. The end result is that the Conservatives could exceed the spending limit. (Most Canadians don't seem to get worked up over this) but the other problem is that , the gifted riding gets to receive the Federal Election Kickback on the $40000 spent, AND, the Federal party gets the $40,000 kick % kickback on monies spent as well. Many Conservative Ridings did not bite on the in and out scheme. Regardless its all water under the bridge and its time to move on beyond that, it certainly had NO effect on the election outcome last year and the knowledge was available at that time of the in and out.....

In the 50s lots in the 60s.... that said, my bro made 40,000 in his early years starting out a decade ago and I believe he is close to 50 now..... my close friend made 36 in his 3rd year this past year , (he's likely not going to return to teaching this year as he has accepted a position elsewhere for just over 60...), but my brotherinlaw made nearly 70 before he passed away....he was a dep head...I believe there are admins and principles and such who exceed 100000.....but they are not involved in this dispute iirc... regardless, this charade is a successful ploy to get people onto a scapegoat and divert attention from a major budget failure and the desire to implement all day kindergarten with no money to do it...and no plan or competence to deal with billion dollar boondoggles, and scams by Liberal connected insiders. Its funny how quickly it works.

THREAD DRIFT ALERT!!!! This is a thread on PROVINCIAL POLITICS! While Education in the US is interesting as is American Politics... once mentioned here, you go down a slippery slope...and soon off the topic at hand McGuinty.

Its alot of Rhetoric from many sides. 1) I am hard pressed to find a teacher who was thinking ...strike. 2) Strike Votes are regular process in negotiations, anyone ever involved in a union know that a strike vote doesn't mean much, as its NOT a vote to strike...big difference. Media always hypes up that vote, but its never meant much in the long run. 3) Teachers weren't looking for pay raises. 4) If a deals not done yet, its because theirs alot of tin ears. The Schoolboards are not happy with the Seniority provision that is mandated in this new legislation, and ties there hands when hiring. I have never heard of this before, and its going to hurt young teachers even more if I understand it properly. 5) If there was no threats coming ..and no action coming from the teachers, this legislation will change nothing in the workplace.... EXCEPT... it may cost the government MORE money in the long run for short term political gain. I can see parts of this bill failing in the courts if it goes through as written. However keep in mind that the Social Contract was found not to violate the charter and it affected EVERY civil servant. 6) Once again teachers are made scapegoats for poor government action. 7) Teachers need to get with the program in what others have been facing, to understand why there isn't alot of sympathy out there. 8) The Public needs to realize alot of these standardized tests and nonsense are crippling hte abilities of creative teaching and student growth. Teachers are not the enemy, they teach your kids and answer to bosses and boards like the rest of us. 9) Why the rush. Why the panic. I am well aware of the McGuinty Government sitting on their hands for 3 years during a strike and doing squat until the company liquidated and left. Yet there is a desire to remove the process of bargaining before its run its course. Indeed many important lockouts and strikes have went on for over a year and the government has gone absent when asked to engage. Yet no one was asking for anything... not yet.... and if the "old contract" continued, it only continues until the next contract is agreed upon. I highly doubt it would cost the $$$ the government is suggesting. It seems like Mcguinty wants to appear tough in hopes of getting a majority. Quite Frankly the decisions of this government are not ones that I trust and I certainly do not trust or believe the comments made by Premier McGuinty. Once again, people are getting suckered by Pinnochio. I believe that this is all a distraction to take our eyes off the consecutive string of incompetence ... from EHEALTH to ORNGE costing Billions of dollars. Let alone those sizeable executive bonuses handed out for failure let alone success. 10) Teachers fully backed the McGuinty Government and many campaigned hard for him.... The Honeymoon is over....but is the marriage?

Interesting post. The fact that you know the above is that its all been in the media. Infact its all been heavily covered. Even the absurd comments and accusations have been covered and covered over again. And the media often coughs up the Conservative spin of the NDP and its Greece analogy. Seems you know that Mulcair has a short fuse, I believe it was all over the media and especially before he became Leader. But in order to report a short fuse he is still required to say something incredibly idiotic and stupid, like when Harper called Martin a Supporter of Child Porn and then went an hid in his trailer for a week. Even the young woman who ran in Quebec was reported and reported and reported, especially in Quebec papers and the more they mentioned her , and her absence as well as her first comment to a radio station when they realized her french was weak, her poll numbers went even higher vaulting her from 3rd to 1st to a massive lead. See the Conservatives , BQ and Libs , all present and previously in contention with one another were all rejected by those voters. Perhaps it say more about the candidates and the parties, kinda like when an animal keeps getting reelected vs a human as we have seen in the US. But, you want more, seems she has been doing an excellent job, superior to the previous incumbent and I wouldn't be surprised if her votes go even higher next time. I will agree with your last line, Jack would have wanted it this way.... Politics was his way of life.

ROTFLOL.....

That is a very accurate analysis of political fundraising today, vs the past. I recall all parties in the 80s and previous having strong to medium strength numbers of volunteers. I recall by the 90s , volunteerism seemed to vapourize and many of the activists from all parties did go to the Reformers... but it depended alot on the make up of your region.. by 2004 volunteers seemed to dry up and the switch to call centres doing voter id, vs the door knocking and marking soon became a thing of the past. The party which made the switch fastest and first was the Conservatives , however, the most effective use of the Robocall based on voter id was the Liberals of 2004 with their last phone blasts in the 24 hours heading to the Election Day. It was a strategic voting robocall and it switched 100s to 1000s of votes per riding from the NDP to the LPC. Today, I think people are now tired of the endless calls for monies, and the robocalls may have already lost their impact. Technology moves fast. That said, WBs comments on the volunteers. You get what you get and people need to realize that the person on the other end is "Not a professional, not paid, and doing their best," Its not ez calling people, especially if you are asking for money, which is why parties often resort to paid call centres.

Funny thing..., I figure I should feed you information you have forgotton from the Robocall thread.. At 11:06 AM on election day election officer Anita Hawdur sent an e–mail to legal counsel Karen McNeil titled: "URGENT Conservative campaign office communication with electors." Hawdur reported that returning officers were also calling to ask about the calls. A further email was sent from legal counsel to Ronnie Molnar, the deputy Chief Electoral Officer who in turn emailed a senior director: “This one is far more serious. They have actually disrupted the voting process

A signed affidavit indicates that 150 to 200 voters in Guelph showed up at a phony vote location at the Quebec Street Mall and some voters ripped up their voter identification cards in anger That is the intent of voter suppression....

I remember hearing Dean Delmastro making that claim almost a year later..., but I recall differently, especially on the day of the Election, when radio ads had to be put out telling people to ignore the calls... 1) Are you suggesting that everyone who got the call and went to the wrong poll eventually found the correct poll and never gave up? That those who took the ferry and then found themselves duped, returned and followed through on their vote? 2) Those most likely to REPORT to EC are those who are so pissed off from the misdirection that they would seek the correct poll and make the phone call. 3) I have no idea the effect of the Liberal Robo Push. Essentially a call like that is to motivate those who are engaged in that subject , TO VOTE... which is the opposite of sending people to the wrong polling stations. 4) Impersonation Elections Canada Should never be tolerated, but for some reason Conservative supporters feel this is .....OK.... and make assumed defences like, this didn't affect anyones right to vote. Not a slipperly slope I wish to play on. Maybe Dean Delmastro thinks differently, he had lots to say about robocalls....

Ah shucks WB... I always Like your posts... I even like them better when you jump into a post of boiling water and turn up the heat ....... SLOWLY...... -
Mr. Valeriote may say that , but its nonsense. Campaign managers along with the CFO of the Campaign are VERY MUCH aware of the requirements. Candidates however, often are oblivious as to what the campaign is doing in their name as well as the rules of Election Canada let alone rules required by the CRTC. It is a Campaign tactic to run such a Push Pull call.... I have never liked them and its an American Import. When one uses a FALSE NAME they are DELIBERITELY deceiving the receiver of the phone call. This was a dirty trick. The Liberals are not unknown to use deceptive tactics. Often their own base is unaware of what a Liberal Campaign might do. That said, I wouldn't be grinning at this if I was Racknine, Andrew Prescott, the CPC, or the GuelpH Conservative Riding association. All the Libs have done is undermined their own credibility, and that may confuse a voter, may help deflect damage control away from the CPC, but I believe that its a matter of time before the chips fall on the intentional voter deception that occured in the last federal election

HOUSTON...The liberals have a problem

A radical is a radical and just because they support a party doesn't mean supporters are of like mind. -
This is why Ignatieff was toast! Only fools believe accurate intel comes from torture.... After nearly 10 years , its resulted in bad intel and the executions of many innocents and the imprisonment of many guards "just doing there job". That said, governments have always received intel through torture.. That doesn't mean its accurate intel. Perhaps the biggest joke and most embarrassing day for Colin Powell was at the UN presenting false and inaccurate information received through torture. He deeply regrets and is embarrassed to this day about it. John McCain has been firm and steady .... Torture creates sadists.... not intel

Kinda Reminds me of Harpers Advisor , about the same age as the Senator, with a Women about the same age... and well, I think he is involved in Influence Peddling.. Never heard a word from Fletch about that.... Bruce Carson.. Enjoy... Alberta school headed by former Harper advisor Bruce Carson ran up $1.3 million operating tab http://www.edmontonjournal.com/business/Alberta+school+headed+former+Harper+advisor+Bruce+Carson/7019593/story.html Liberal Tory same old story... -
Should be interesting..... Perhaps you are onto the right thing to do..... However, I also think that the CRTC decision should go to Elections Canada and be added to the investigation of the voter fraud, and voter misdirection. Any Christian Conservative would think the same....

Thread drift.... This thread is about the Federal NDP one year after Jack has passed. And as you have made an interesting comment, toss it over to the Provincial Politics and I would be happy to follow a discussion on your comment.

Yes, its a big goof up/mistake and I am glad they quickly admitted it. There are people in charge during a campaign who are suppose to make sure this doesn't happen. And when it does, someone has to answer for it.

Agreed... A good campaigner would keep the KW election focus on Arrogance and Opportunism. Liberal Arrogance and strategy to get the seat. PC Witmer Opportunism to accept the position at the WSIB This is definitely the PCs seat to lose. Interesting that a few weeks back I commented that the NDP was not in this race and now it is a 3 way race according to the latest forum poll.
