Dexter the most unpopular premier in Canada
madmax replied to TheNewTeddy's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I tend to view Dexter as governing as a PC, and have always felt that is the direction he would travel as Premier. It seems to be holding true. And more importantly, this deal has no Job Guarrantees, thus its the same stuff you see from the Federal and Provincial governments in other jurisdictions. -

Ontario vs Alberta Political Joke

Double Edged Sword. When Harris left his Hydro Kiss on Eves.... the ball was set in motion. Private Hydro company lobbiests circling in Nuclear, Wind, Solar and yes, subsidizing hydro rates was removed, but subsidizing hydro companies was increased. I watched those hydro bills increase , particularly going from $150,000 per month to close ot 350,000 in a few short years. Hydro was 2nd most expensive cost next to steel, and remained so, but the cost increase was significant. Hydro is then purchased on the market like speculators, and lock in prices. This was the Harris Eves way. It was idealogically driven, just as Sir Adam Beck vision was idealogically driven. I will take Adam Becks 100 years of success over Harris/Evs/McGuinty decade of increases. -
I guess this propoganda wouldn't fly well with the transgendered,,,,, Before the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the issue of transsexuality in Iran had never been officially addressed by the government. Beginning in the mid-1980s, however, transsexual individuals were officially recognized by the government and allowed to undergo sex reassignment surgery. As of 2008, Iran carries out more sex change operations than any other nation in the world except for Thailand. The government provides up to half the cost for those needing financial assistance, and a sex change is recognised on the birth certificate.[1]

LOL my bad... Sorry, I only remembered the Kinsella comments on Coyne, and since I came across this on another forum, I included both the links as they had appeared, and added my own brand of humour to it. From the follow up post.. And if one is going down the Buffoon list, certainly enough within the Conservative Ranks and NDP ranks to fill a boat, but its the Liberal Captain your looking for which obviously you didn't find humourous as nothing in this thread has been humourous to you..... Again, A thread about nothing...

Climate scientists keep getting it wrong

Thank you Moonbox. -
Why are you participating in a thread 155 pages deep if you haven't been following any of it?

LMAO... I got excited to see how you were going to tackle this thread when I saw your handle appear. I always expect something different and interesting (For the same reason I miss MDANCER). So I was surprised by the content of this post. I had a teacher in my home over the summer working on a project together, and I will be danged if he didn't say something very similar to what you have stated. Especially when he went on to where he saw the direction education was taking and the vast advancements in technology. The direction the Universities, Colleges are going (rapidly changing) and the idea of teachers in the classroom may be as common as a landline, video store, or even cable TV, as the curriculum changes to internet driven agenda.

Ok, now there is this poll, which couldn't be more different from the previous poll. I am going to have a look at the pdf details.. methodology etc. It may be a poll, but I don't believe the LPC is that low....and would expect them to be anywheres from 20 to 27%. New Abacus poll: http://abacusdata.ca/2012/09/24/federal-politics-conservatives-and-ndp-tied-at-35/ Con 35 NDP 35 Lib 17 Approval rates: Harper: -50 +35 Net -15 Mulcair: +36 -22 Net +14

Fired Teacher Hired - Unbelievable
madmax replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I clearly understand your logic. I think most here know what you are trying to say. You want to pin people down in an overall thought process and one that may include hypocrisy. That said, A teacher has taken a stand and by going against the rules, has received a specific discipline. In this case its dismissal. He has also highlighted and issue that few knew about. To do so cost him his job of 35 years. What also exists in this thread is that some suggest not only did he do wrong (to disobey the directive) but that he is wrong. -
Ironically this thread a few years back, would have had various Liberals pounding back hard on what "Liberals" stand for and a record in government to back it up. (Not necessarily the campaign promises, but the actions. Its clear the Liberals have lost their way, and may not get it back and watching a couple Liberal Supporters weak counter to the points put forth by LeaderShip Candidate Coyne is..... The NDP....???? While I don't know Ryan Clearly, I certainly am aware of Jack Harris. And if one is going down the Buffoon list, certainly enough within the Conservative Ranks and NDP ranks to fill a boat, but its the Liberal Captain your looking for .

The Government wants more Banks?

I think its this... Industrial strategy generally refers to any attempt by government to apply a coherent and consistent set of policies that are designed to improve the performance of the ECONOMY.

So, "Left of Centre" want corporate handouts. Thank you for that opinion. and now for something completely different from our Conservative Government. Seems the Fraser institute overlooked this... The report did not mention the more than $800,000 repayable loan the Conservatives gave to an Ontario company last month to make non-exploding sausages Yummy and safe.
-
I am willing to bet that a vast majority of corporate handouts are to well connected insiders and lobbiests. I am not sure how "Progressive" Bruce Carson is.. But I do know he is a well connected Conservative insider and former Harper Advisor.
-
Are you for Corporate Welfare? Long before the Wind/Solar/Biomass Corporate Welfare "Bums" have been at the trough of the Canadian Government treasury since Sir John A MacDonald. I personally am a little surprised by this as the last time the idea of corporate welfare bums got on the radar was back in the 70s. Obviously within the last 15 years there has been significantly more corporate welfare and it appears those corporate welfare rates may continue to climb. Considering that some of these Welfare recipients are well connected Conservatives today (before they would have been well connected Liberals) it can be said that all energy sectors have been at the receiving end of the handouts.

Deborah Coyne is campaigning on the Liberals not Standing for anything http://www.hilltimes.com/news/news/2012/08/27/liberal-party-%E2%80%98does-not-stand-for-anything%E2%80%99-says-leadership-contender-coyne/31944 Warren Kinsella appears to be taking a hissy fit over it. Basically telling her to take a leap... http://warrenkinsella.com/2012/08/dear-ms-coyne/ I guess people forget that Seinfeld was a very successful show about nothing. So either you are about nothing or about something. If Coyne is right about the LPC , then I think Jerry Seinfeld would be an excellent leader.

I have an opninon that is popular with socialists and capitalists and people in general. I am not pretending to be nor am I an expert. I would say when the vast number of posters be it left or right or centre on the spectrum disagree with the "Educator in training" It has more to do with life experience, common sense, general decorum and the ability to debate a policy or issue.
