  1. So campaign offices are left wide open so any one can sneak in and use the phone - don't think so. If you call a phone in show you are usually on hold for a while, then you talk to the screener, then you go on. This isn't a quck one minute phone call, he would have been noticed. This is another indication that the liberals are running scared, that along with Martin furiously painting Harper as a socon which he clearly is not. Its being discussed on CFRB now, but you know, once the seeds of distrust are planted, people start to distrust. This incident is about the sleaziest on record. Harper did well on CBC TV panel. This so-called random panel and questions were clearly all aimed at attacking him and the party, but he handled it well and never lost his cool. A lot of the questioners were clearly unhappy that he didn't respond to their bait the way that they wanted him to. I wonder if Martin is regretting making it such a long election campaign.
  2. Wow, I guess the liberals are beyond talking policy. Harper and the current policies are really liberal lite. Anyone taking the time to read or learn would know that, but the libs are playing to fear, and playing to knee jerk anti americanism. So sad.
  3. Just saw that on CBC. Pretty pathetic, all this slander, its all the have left. I haven't heard the Liberals mention policy for days... actually yet this campaign. its sad that they have to resort to this. I doubt Axeworthy knew what his campaign worker was doing, but should he make a statement about this? Its hard to believe that the liberal party would resort to such underhanded shenanigans isn't it ?
  4. If you're talking about global warming, remember: Bush has a better record of combatting that than your Dear Liberals do. And the last attempt the US Democrats made at it too. The only heat I see is on Liberals to provide a real alternative to conservatism other than fear and smear. I think this 'fear and smear' has become a defining issue in this campaign. I'm beginning to believe (at last)that maybe most Canadians are not buying into the chicken little, the sky is falling melodrama of the liberals. Ppeople are starting to recognize that the fear and smear crowd are so far out in left field, its laughable.
  5. It depends on the questions asked, I do believe that push polls can sway voters. Isn't that the reason for polls not being allowed 24 hours prior to election day? I'd like to see it more than that, maybe 3 days before.
  6. gee guess only socialists have IQ's over 90 eh! whoda thunk it
  7. What's your concern here? That the mock-ballot that came as part of the Conservative candidate's advertising material does not make mention of the opponent's names? So? I don't think a candidate is under any obligation to mention his opponents in his advertising. I mean, if you'd found evidence that Conservatives in Ottawa West/Nepean had managed to switch the Elections Canada ballots with ballots that have a big color photo of John Baird, list fictional opponents sans party affiliation, and already have an X in the box by Baird's name, I think that yes, you'd have found a bigtime scandal. As it happens, though, I think you've mistaken a humor column for the real thing. -kimmy {man, if this is the Liberals' "nuclear bomb", they're in bigger trouble than I thought. } Its grasping at straws, making a mountain out of a molehill - well actually a non existent molehill.
  8. Tories must stay on message By: The Brandon Sun Prepare yourselves, Conservatives. There are seven days left to go until Canadians pass judgment on the Liberal government, and in that time, you will have to fight like mad against a wounded beast that refuses to go quietly. The Conservatives, ahead in the polls and poised to form government if nothing changes between now and next Monday, are already getting a taste of a Liberal government desperate to remain in power. Like a wounded sea monster thrashing around blindly, the Liberals will refuse to sink to the depths of the deep blue Conservative sea about to engulf the country. At the end of the week, the Liberals did all they could to whip up fear among the electorate about what a Conservative government would do. more here: http://www.brandonsun.com/story.php?story_id=15900
  9. I'm not going to get into any deep philosophical discussion, Americans are not much different than Canadians, and truly do not understand the animosity towards them, except for the Iraq War issue which they are well aware of. I have spent a fair amount of time in the U.S. (warmer climes) and spent a lot of time with Americans from all over, some have even come north and visited with us. These people want and hope for the same things we do, they go about their business the same as we do. They do not understand our obsession with bashing another country (U.S.) for its internal policies e.g. health care, and do not want any form of nationalization, even the democrats don't want it. I don't get it sometimes, why are Canadians so obsessed with another countries internal policies and why should we care how they vote or what system they prefer - its none of our business. The obsession with U.S. bashing has gone from normal critique to OCD, many Americans think we are condescending and look down our nose at them, they are not stupid, they see it. If Canadians think they are better than the U.S. they are wrong, their intolerance and hatred of a particular group is showing.
  10. Don't be silly. Of course they're anti-American. It has been patently obvious for some time that the Liberals have been doing their level best to portray everything about the United States as bad. And then to associate everything they want to attack with the United States. If you complain about the lousy state of our health care the liberals and left immediately raise the bogeyman of American style health care, portraying it as cold, heartless, and cruel. If people attack multiculturalism on its merits, for how it has led to so many problems, Liberals and leftists accuse you of wanting an "American style" melting pot, and trumpet how much more enlightened our system is then theirs. When the Liberals and left defend their ridiculous gun registration measures they attack their opponents by claiming they are American wannabees, that they support Canada becoming a free-for-all of wild west shootouts like those terrible Americans. They have done everything they possibly can to portray Harper as in the Americans pockets, as believing in American style policies, American style health care, as wanting an American style foreign policy, American style criminal laws, American style support for the military, and American style gun freedom. They've accused him of being a suckup to the Americans, of not loving Canada, of not being patriotic enough, and worst of all, of being on friendly terms with George Bush (the great Satan). The implicit, and often explicit message is that American is a horrible place of misery, racism, poverty, hate and violence, and that anyone who does anything that might make us even a little more like that horrible, awful place is anti-Canadian - and just plane immoral. It's a cheap, shody, unethical, ignorant type of attack, and anyone who doesn't recognize the anti-Americanism of it is deluded, dishonest or both. Well said! Martin is playing to anti-Americanism and stirring up more of by portraying the U.S. as the big boogy man. Many Americans don't understand this, they might wish for different health care options etc. but simply do not understand Canadians animosity towards their country and its system. If enough Americans wanteed more change they would vote for it, but I'm not sure that even the Democrats would change much. Martin and his anti U.S. rhetoric is turning some Americans against Canada. Some legacy!
  11. http://www.ctv.ca/mini/election2006/static/issues/index.html I havn't read the whole thing to see if it actually matches the party websites.
  12. I found this blog entry that I assume talks about the bogus email you're referring to: http://www.proudtobecanadian.ca/blog/index/weblog/3517/ I wouldn't assume the Liberal Party itself is behind such an idea, but supporters of all political parties can get into trouble if they've got too much time on their hands. -k Received this morning: January 16, 2006 Dear friend, In the last day or two, you may have seen an e-mail message purporting to come from Conservative Party President Don Plett. This message is bogus; Mr. Plett did not send out anything of the sort. Radio CKNW in Vancouver has traced this e-mail to a server in St. Petersburg, Russia, and behind that to a Liberal-friendly source in Toronto. In the final week of the campaign, our increasingly desperate opponents are likely to resort to more of these manoeuvres. Please keep that in mind if you receive e-mail that claims to be from a Conservative source but doesn’t match your understanding of our party’s policy. Hold the course and don’t get rattled by our opponents’ dirty tricks! Just one week to go till election day. Sincerely, Doug Finley Campaign Manager
  13. All of its spin. The Harper haters, liberals and supporters have lost all credibility, kinda like trying to get into the lifeboats on the Titanic. The wheels will be spinning big time this week; the question is how many of the undecideds will fall for it.
  14. We sure do, much more accountabilityis needed. We also need the books to be fully audited and the correct figures released immediately after the writ is dropped. This means of course that someone will have to be performing a forensic audit on a regular basis. Of course, if we have set election dates then they would know when to start the audit.
  15. And let's not even mention Peter, pants on fire, Mckay. Oh gee, now where back in a sand box LOL do throw sand too Don't forget the fake emails being sent out, another form of sabotage. Charles Adler said he was talking with Peter Warren who was working with the RCMP and some computer people tracked down the Canadian source of thefake emails Good work on the part of the RCMP on this issue.
  16. Get real, those cards are simply sent out by CIMS, the computer system that the CPC uses to track supporters. Obviously at one point, Earl told the CPC he was a supporter and was entered in the system. Those cards are sent to everybody across the country (in the ridings that can afford it) and the names of the "opponents" are just made up names that appear on all the postcards. If he's seriously trying to pass this off as a scandal the MSM is getting pretty desperate to stick mud on the CPC. The Liberals have lost so much credibility that they will have a hard time making anything up that will be believed. When people stop believing Liberal lies, you know that they are in trouble. Its all they ever had going for them.
  17. It is a problem for a lot of people who are not fully aware of whats going on. This is sabotage by Joe Hugelin and David Orchard.
  18. Why? Even if they did that would only make them as bad as the Liberals. All campaign contributions are listed on Elections Canada http://www.elections.ca/scripts/webpep/fin...tributions.aspx
  19. Do you think Martin resigning would be the 'bomb' I don't think so. I'm not surprised that they have something to trot out the last week. Any other ideas of what it could be?
  20. [quote That idea is a disgrace to our military. Your saying that are military should basicly be a place for punishment. Are military deserves much better than these scum joining their ranks. Agreed, why would we want criminals in our forces? Boot camp of some kind, and whats wrong with a type of 'chain gang' picking up garbage etc. As for society being at fault somehow for these immoral criminals, I don't buy into that, its not my fault, its the fault of their lack of values, criminal mindset, and likely poor upbringing. Where are the parents while this is going on?
  21. Huh? think you've got the wrong forum.
  22. Could this be next in Canada? Why are Muslims sending their kids to a Catholic school, and how would they feel if this were the other way round? http://news.scotsman.com/education.cfm?id=71792006 Islamic group urges Catholic school to move to Muslim faith HILARY DUNCANSON AN ISLAMIC campaign group has called for a Catholic primary school to be based on the Muslim faith. The Campaign for Muslim Schools said 90 per cent of pupils at St Albert's Primary, in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow, are Muslim, yet children are having to take part in Catholic rituals like saying the Lord's Prayer and attending mass. Osama Saeed, co-ordinator of the alliance of Glasgow's main mosques and Muslim organisations, said he could see no reason why the main faith of the school should not change. He said: "Clearly the parents of that area find a faith school, even if it is of another denomination, preferable to a secular one. But surely it should be possible for them to have one that is relevant to their own faith. "To move towards this would be a fantastic example of good faith - in more ways than one - on the part of the Church." The call came just days after Scotland's most senior Catholic, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, sparked controversy by stating that Scotland's core faith was Christianity and that other faiths should recognise they were "living in Scotland as a Christian country". A spokesman for the Catholic Church in Scotland was not available for comment tonight.
  23. ABCs of Liberal Values The ABC's of Liberal Values Are Liberal Values Your Values? 24. I think they affect the people who don't really get into politics and don't know the platform and issues. Is this the ad the liberals want pulled because of 'copywrite' infringements ?
  25. Seems high to me, I'm still guessing a Conservative minority. However, a couple more liberal gaffes and it could turn into a majority.
