  1. It was expensive, but I didn't expect other taxpayers to pay for my choice to have children. It may not be mandatory to put your kids in the nationalized day care, but if one chooses not to, will they be reimbursed so they can go elsewhere - don't think so. How many private day care centres do you really think will be operating once it's all nationalized and state run. The best way is to reduce the tax burden on families so they can make their own choices. I do disagree with the fitness tax credit, why should I have to pay for social activities.
  2. Taxes would have to be raised if they impose a government-run nanny care scheme which will cost billions of dollars and - ignore family choices. This brings about a credibility gap on their deficit issue as delivering on this nanny care bureaucracy will increase the deficit.

  4. Sure, but nothing like having your own spin thrown back at ya LOL
  5. I doubt they are paid also, but reading other commentary from theleft just parrots whatever their leaders, say, original and creative thinking are rare gifts to find in left wingers.
  6. Interesting, so how do we know that this fake ad wasn't placed by a Liberal campaign worker, but in this new age of cyberspace and social media what is wrong with the concept, as long it is declared campaign spending. Most of the people posting on here are partisans, they support one party or another posting on here to give their points of view, same with commentary. If we see something that is wrong or we plain just disagree with it, what's wrong with commenting on it. Actually, as much of the campaign is now done on line IMO it's a darned good idea to have people posting and rebutting, why not have campaign workers post, it's all part of it, the only issue is if they are being paid during a campaign, then it would be part of the declared expenses. I'm surprised that the parties are not employing this method of getting the message out.
  7. Yes, but no one wants to keep going to the polls, if the voters keep giving the CPC a minority gov't how long before the opposition will try to grab power forcing another election and how often would they be willing to do it for power at any cost. IMO if they tried to force another election right away the people won't stand for it.
  8. Agree,he doesn’t need a coalition to seize power. He can do what the Liberals and NDP did immediately after the 1985 provincial election in Ontario: Just grab power with an immediate non-confidence vote. No coalition needed, to hell with the voters. The 1985 Ontario election was won by the Conservatives. They won more seats than any other party — but they still had a minority. Instead of accepting that result, Bob Rae, then leader of the NDP, phoned up David Peterson, the Liberal leader, and made a deal to grab power. It wouldn't surprise me to see that happen if Harper gets another minority. BTW, there's a question the media needs to really ask Ignatieff and Layton, straight yes or no only, accepted. If the Conservatives win a minority, will you respect the will of Canadians and allow for a stable gov't for a reasonable length of time seeking another non cofidence vote ?
  9. And if he promised to cut taxes then didn't, or did and it caused the deficit to go higher, you'd be screaming about that...
  10. Not a chance, I'm voting...
  11. Better to make a promise based on fiscal viability rather than making a promise you know you can't keep, although many people want instant gratification then bitch about the deficit. Income splitting helped senior couples a lot, this will help other couples. Interesting that all parties seem to be agreeing with helping people through tax cuts rather than social programs, maybe a fundamental shift in how governments help people; doing it through through the tax system.
  12. CPAC has the full video here, all you need to know http://www.cpac.ca/forms/index.asp?dsp=template&act=view3&pagetype=vod&hl=e&clipID=5288 shorter version here There was no coalition
  13. Could be interesting all over if Liberal partisans don't hold up their end also.
  14. There was no 'coalition' agreement, most left wingers won't even try to distinguish between cooperation and a coalition, particular those with the automatic reflex action of negativity towards Harper. Working together on an issue-by-issue basis is cooperation which is how minority governments in Canada work. Duceppe stated very clearly at the press conference in 2004 that this was not a coalition, with Harper and Layton making similar statements. Now Duceppe is saying the opposite. MPs from opposition parties all entering into a signed deal with a specific time frame is a coalition. Duceppe, Layton, and Ignatieff were all signatories to this would-be coalition in 2008. Duceppe is the liar here, and the proof is in the reading of the letter and the comments from each party leader that followed because a coalition, is different than cooperation. Harper never proposed a formal deal with a specific time period the the Liberals did with Iggy signing on as a Liberal MP at the time. Huge difference. Duceppe needs to be called on his lies, and hoisted on his own petard.
  15. I'll ignore the 'your kind' You obviously didn't listen to it, he never answered the question, "I'm a politician", isn't a real answer, yes or no would have done it. This only a shortly after he accuses the CPC war room of grossly misrepresenting the opposition as a coalition of democratic usurpers, and here Ignatieff has just handed the CPC war room a very generous gift. All they have to do is put this on reply and we have Dion 2 LOL
  16. This is hilarious, why is he afraid to answer the question
  17. These frothing Liberals, Goodale and Iggy in particular, don’t seem to understand that their ferocious attitude is what is dragging them down in the polls, as Harper comes across as calm and reasoned. Today’s poll CPC 43% Lib 24%. The Liberals should be careful what they wish for, good bye Count Ignatieff
  18. How about that guy Count Igula ( Okay Count Ignatieff) here he is howling about the PM being disrespectful of Parliament and meanwhile he has his face in front of a mike outside the House while the budget is being read!!!!! Some respect for Parliament. As for Contempt of Parliament, he will not answer the Press' question re Coalition, at least comes nearer honesty by saying he will work with any Party, but they are both avoiding the truth.
  19. It won't be funny if the coalition of losers usurp the will of the voters
  20. That's my take on it too, the more rabid the opposition appears, and the more it seems all they care about is bringing down the gov't instead of caring about the economy etc. etc. the worse it gets for them. We don't need an answer from Ignatieff about his being part of the coalition, his signature is on the document, which btw, has just recently been removed from the LPC website. Guess they know this still doesn't fly well with the voters either.
  21. Palestine doesn't want peace or any agreement, all they want is dead jews, they want Israel gone, pushed into the sea. Israel would be stupid to give up any control to Hamas... if they did - say by by Israel.
  22. Interesting, I think it shows that the public are fed up with trumped up scandals, the public doesn't care if Kenney used the wrong letter head or Oda had someone stamp not on a document... IMO they see the opposition as nothing but blowhards trying to grab power at any cost, rather than concentrating on the economy and pass legislation.... Polls can change in a wink though..
  23. True, if there really is a coalition of losers, then the voters need to know before the vote, Ignatieff is waffling and will not give a clear answer.
  24. The gov't hasn't been toppled yet.... Interesting piece here about the coalition question, voters need an answer before the election - bet we don't get one LOL http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/03/24/roy-green-the-central-election-question-is-coalition-yes-or-no/
  25. There are always two sides, what people see and learn is often dictated by the media, along with the opposition pushing their own agendas.
