  1. SO according to some the rest of Canada "owes" the Natives trillions of dollars. OK Lets look at all the years of licence exempt fishing and hunting for every native. Then deduct that from what is owed. Lets look at the billions a year spent on managing their affairs and concerns, and deduct that from what is owed. Let's look at all the money generated from being allowed to run Casinos, and deduct that from what is owed. Let's look at the land value of the reserves they already have and deduct that from what is owed. Let's look at the lack of income tax paid due to the fact natives were recieving a govt. handout, based on what the avg. native outside of a reserve is earning, and deduct that from what is owed. Let's look at every penny ever spent by this country to provide health, shelter, education and any other thing having to do with Natives, and deduct that from what is owed. Frankly I don't think that the bill would be too much. The country could likely pay it off within a decade.
  2. I for one am looking forward to it.
  3. OK I am calling Buuuuuuuuuuuuuulllllllsh!t on this one. lol You have proven yourself to be a knowledgable( F@#% I can't spell it either hahaha) person, and I am sure you knew what PM PM's nick was. Seeing as how any reference to him by that name has been forbidden on these boards I know you must be aware of it. As for the compliment, you caught me on a good day. lol No seriously, you seem to know your stuff. It is nice to see a "Yank" who actually knows there is another country above the continental 48. I might(usually) not always agree with you but I am not so blind as to let your (backwards lol) political views, stop me from seeing that you are an intelligent person, who will research things he wishes to debate and not just spout off to hear(see) himself speak. OH ya I knew you were American when I posted before.
  4. Ship his sorry gangsta arse back!!!!!!!!!!! $500 or so for a plane ticket. I'll donate a buck. I am sure it would not be a problem to find another 499 people who would want this man out of our country. Who gives a rats butt cheeks what happens to a carreer crimianl if he is sent back to his own country? If he knew what the penalty was and was breaking the law there, then he should go back and face his sentemce. "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time."
  5. Considering the former PM was nicknamed "Mr. Dithers" by his foes, I find that extremly hard to believe. Also knowing full well you are fairly well versed in Canadian Politics and a pretty smart person in general, I would say you knew full well who you were refering to.
  6. Does this fall into the "Takes one to know one" category?
  7. I would disagree. Those are the exact areas he needs to gain ground in to get his majority. Showing some sympathy towards their(jews) most recent tribulation could gain him enough to swing a few seats. So he got a lump in his throat after visiting one of the cruelest places mankind has ever been witness too. No big deal, it should happen. I would expect people to get emotional if they actually took the time to think about what our young people are sacrificing in the name of freedom across the globe. All I am saying is "It should happen." I don't think it is a big news event. I also think he knew full well his little "prayer" gesture would be a perfect photo op, and to only prove my point here we have a thread to discuss it in, as well as several mentions in the MSM. I am not saying his emotions weren't genuine, just that he has to know that the camera's are there and that an overt gesture like that, heartfelt or not, is going to create a buzz. The comment he left in the book was, I admit, first class. Must have taken him, or his speach writers(?), hours to perfect it.
  8. I second this proposal. Can we start a petition or something?
  9. Actually it started with contaminated vacines. Thew wrong type of monkey blood was used to make them. The distribution of these vacinations corisponds with the initial outbreaks of HIV in Africa.
  10. Biggest problem and what makes it worse imo, is that Emerson had only days before been elected as a Liberal. I view his entire campaign as a complete lie to the people of his constituency. Then you have the hypocracy of the CPC who only hours after coming to power turn around and do the same thing they were ready to hang PM Martin and the Liberals for doing. Enter the era of political accountability and integrity.
  11. What the hell are they supposed to do? Everytime a critical vote comes up, Harper makes it a confidence vote, and forces the Libs to either side with him, not vote, or possibly force an election. Bullly tactics. Effective in politics and Poker. Personally I don't want another election so soon.
  12. And how much native tax dollars went into these transfer payments that you say are so inadequate?
  13. Ever talk to a navitve who didn't FEEL that their land was unjustly taken, and should rightfully still be theirs? You lose.
  14. Who claimed the land for free 14000 years ago? It doesn't matter. Too late sorry. Non of my ancestors did any of those things you speak of. Well maybe a few did, we have been here since the 1700's. I wasn't around to stop them, so don't lay it at my feet. You missed the point. The point is even though some of the employees are not native there is still billions set aside to provide for them and deal with them. Why is it all you Native Rights defenders are so ignorant and insulting? Do you have no real points to make? Oh right the hundreds of years old treaties and and some hand-me-down fairy tales.
  15. Funny I have a "legal claim" to my property. It is called a deed. Not some tworow wampum or some 300 year old treaty with the king of France. I know what they think from what they have said while in my presence. As for speaking to one, I had about 15 of them in my house last November. Had dinner with some two weeks ago. Went to school with a couple of dozen. I talk to a survivor of the boarding schools several times a year, and usually bring him tobacco as is the custom. Hey I have listened to natives rail on about the evils of the "White man" and how "the red path is the right path". Nothing I have said comes without having experienced it myself to some degree. Well I only make about 40K a year but I have a killer benifits and pension package. I know billions are budgeted every year. It can be found on govt websites. How about education and schools for one. Healthcare, housing shall I go on? All am doing is pointing out the inequality. If a Native wants to get his/her arse off the reserve and get a real job they could have everything every other Canadian has. Can any Canadian move to a reserve and be treated to the same things a native would get? Please show a racist slur. I am not responsible for your own personal lack of comprehension. No, the issue is that there are laws in this country that apply to some people but not to others. IS that simple enough for you? Right, so the billions a year is not compensation for anything. F*ck I hope the govt. steals my land and provides for me the rest of my life. Like the agreement made with the King of France 300 years ago. Sorry means about as much as a square of toilet paper to me. "They" is a racial slur now. Get real. A bit freaking sensitive aren't we. So the Govt. does not budget billions for the Dept of northern and indian affairs? Natives are not allowed to hunt and fish while others can't or must buy permits? I figure the guy in the back seat was a credible witness. Since they were smuggling booze and later they got ratted out by one of their cousins there should be a record of the activity and arrests if not the incident he told me about itself in some police report. No there was nothing magical about it. As I said the police were afraid to enter the reserve. I think the warriors with guns may have had something to do about it. If you want to look into it it was the Mohawk tribe. There should be records. Again with your racist slurs accusation. Not once have I used one. You are just saying that because you have no real arguement. As for the aquaintance comment, OK fine he is a relative through marriage. He has told me on several occassions that when he and his tribe win his family will be reciving a lot of money, and that everyone in the tribe who has filled out some govt. form will be given land. For someone who is apparently so sensitive you sure are quick to insult and insinuate. It's ok though, the world needs all kinds even people like you.
  16. Thank you for proving my point. Nativer feel they own and are entitled to the entire country. Pathetic. I have nothing against self government. Just lose the idea the rest of the damn country owes you something. They did take action. Perhaps not on what was said to me directly but the posters were removed after only a short stay. as for a link, yuou can waste your own time searching through site. I believe it is in Provincial Potlitics. BS. I have heard the natives talk about the "whiteman" so don't give me any of your garbage. ANd yes, it is "White-man" technology, if you are so upset about our society then go and live in a bloody tipi and hunt with your bow and arrow. Quit sucking tax dollars out of my pocket and then tell me how terrible this country is to you. Hmmmm.... programs which are put in place on the reserves. Employees who are there to service natives, and budgets which spend all their money on only native innitiatives. Education grants no one esle is entitled to. Tax free status. C'mon, wake up. The laws are not equal. A native can fish and hunt when I would get arrested. How the hell is that equal? See you yourself call them "pre-existing rights". If they had rights before everyoneelse, how is that equality? They are a group of militants who are using violent occupation to further a political agenda. Call BS all you want, doesn't change the fact it is true. I have heard first hand details of natives blocking access to a reserve during a police pursuit. I talked to one of the guys in the car being chased. The cops stopped at the edge of the reserve and would not enter. Really? So the lawsuit my acquaintance has been telling me about for years, that he is spearheading, is just a figment of his imagination.
  17. Puck: Here are a few "Truths" I have learned from a few former native posters on this site. 1. They believe every inch of Canada belongs to them. From Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. 2. They don't belive Canadian laws should apply to them. 3. They are willing to resort to violence to achieve their goals. I was told that if/when they come for my family's land they would shoot me on site or simply starve me out of my home if I would not give it up. 4. They blame the "White man" for everything wrong while driving "our" vehicles and wearing "our" clothes while they live comfortably in "our" homes. Here are a few "truths" I know. 1. Over the last few decades the Canadian Govt. has bent over backwards to try and do what they can for the natives of this country. 2. Billions of tax dollars are spent every year to provide services for the reservations. 3. The laws of Canada are biased, because a person who is native has more rights and freedoms than a non-native. 4. Natives have cost Ontario millions of dollars while they occupy land that if it was any other group would have been simply arrested enmass and taken away. 5. Police in some areas are afraid to go onto reserves even though they are aware of crime. 6. Native groups are suing the govt for hundreds of millions for land they say is still theirs.
  18. Poor Barack. First he follows the wrong minister, then gets reamed by one he likely never heard of before. I don't see how this guy is going to help the Clinton campaign with this rhetoric. Other view on Obama.
  19. I admit when I saw the thread title I thought it was refering to the general behaviour on these boards and not singling out one particular poster. Posters are regularly insulted and belittled on these boards. It has been going on since before I signed up and although a few ofthe worst have been dismissed it still continues within the limitted boundaries set out by admin. I just figure it is common practice around here.
  20. If there is enough proof for it to be unrefutable, I would much rather have the individual in question removed from the human gene pool.
  21. The guy committed murder in a place where death is the penalty. IT is not an absurd punishment for the crime. It is not like a woman getting stoned to death for being alone in a room with a single man, or getting 10 years in jail for 2 joints of weed. I would rather the Cdn Govt. help Mark Emery than get involved in this.
  22. I think you have something here. Being able to repeat "I can't discuss matters about an on going case before the courts." could be just what he is after. Be just like the 16 months of hearing "Well, the preveious Liberal Govt. ..."
  23. IT wasn't for the aiding Kuwait. It was to convince an Arab nation (S.A.)to allow foreign soldiers on its land. This is not a good thing in the Koran.
  24. Problem is the $100/mo prgram has cost as much or more than the proposed daycare program without creating any spaces. Not to mention it is a complete boondoggle when you figure that some families pay almost the entire amount back at tax time. Most families will repay some. A total waste of time and money.
  25. The school I went to had 1500 people, some bussed in from as far as 20+min away by car. So I don't know how much more rural you want, but it sure as hell wasn't an urban school. Although the more rural the area the more places there are to grow dope therefore I would think it would make it even more available and due to ease of access "the drug of choice" for students. Sure I used to be able to get alcohol while in high school. It would sometimes take days of trying to find someone who either had an older sibling willing to get it or just hanging out by the liquor store and "fishing". It would always cost about $5 more than store price. OR I could ask three or four people, who around had some good weed, and I would be making a deal in the washroom before lunch was over. Not legalizing pot is what is keeping it so accessible to our youth.
