  1. So you want Govt. to regulate, but not run, daycare? What is the $100 a month anyway, if it is not a Govt. subsidy? Not "Good for him". This is a perfect example of the rediculousness of the program. Someone who doesn't need daycare is recieving our tax dollars for no other reason than the fact they have a young kid. Then you have the high income earners who will likely be giving most if not all of the subsidy back to the Govt. at tax time and the boondoggle becomes even bigger. We just wasted more money processing and delivering the cheques, only to have it taxed back. Here is a few questions for you. For 3.7 billion dollars how many buildings could be built to house daycare centres? How many real tangible spaces could be created? How many daycares do you know of that will look after a child for $100 a month?
  2. Here you go Capricorn. #4 Child care. Why the Conservatives even think of this farce as a positive is beyond me. No new childcare spaces with billions spent. Nevermind the fact that it is you and me paying for people to keep popping out kids and giving them an incentive to do so. My friend who doesn't use or need daycare, is saving the cheques so his son can buy a nice truck when he is 16. Maybe I can get a few rides for the money I contributed. I was against this from the start and the more money that gets spent the worse I think it is. One thing I like that they did is the public transit credit, which you lumped in with another farce of a credit, the child sport credit. Now why would you give money back to a family who could already afford to put their child into a organized sport while totally ignoring those who can't afford such a thing in the first place? You only get the credit if you already had the money to sign up and buy the necessary equipment. It does nothing for the families who can't come up with the initial fees to join a league in the first place. These are the kids we need to get into after shool programs and organized sports. The GST cut is another one I find is all sizzle and no substance for the average middle to low income family. Only those with high amounts of disposable income to spend on GST applicable items are really benifiting from the reduction. Overall though, this Govt. has performed better than I had ever expected and has at the very least earned a passing grade.
  3. Reminds me of Joe Dirt .
  4. That is the point. The GST cut doesn't affect everyone equally. I know on the surface it might seem like it because it is an across-the-board cut. But take a quick look and you will see this cut affects the rich far more than it affects the middle to low income families. Buying one $400,000 Rolls Royce would save the buyer $4,000. Buying $500 dollars worth of clothes for your kid over the course of a year saves you a whopping $5. So tell me again who benifits from this tax? Easiest and best way to give relief is a tax cut to the lower income bracket. *** Angus. As for saving $270 on a $4500 computer, try again. The savings were $45 with a one cent cut, and a whole $90 if you also consider the first one cent cut. Don't know where you got $270 dollars from? ***
  5. Gee Ricki, I wonder who it was that was sending harassing pm's to other posters?
  6. Maybe that is because they were receiving dozens of harassing pm's from certain posters.
  7. "a mind like yours" Please explain what you mean by this. 'Cause right now it looks like what M. Bluth would refer to as a "personal attack".
  8. What a freaking joke. Same BS, in every thread. There is no debate on these boards. Only insults and veiled antagonistic innuendo. Liberals are lying, theiving power drunk lawyers who only pretend to actually get things done. The Democrats are so far in Left field they might as well adopt the hammer and sickle for a symbol. The Greens are a bunch of pot heads who know nothing about government. The Conservatives are really a secret branch of the ultra Right wing Christian conservative movement of the USA, determined to undermine Canadian values and freedoms. There you go. No need to read any other threads because that is all you will find in any of them. Sad, but at times worth a laugh.
  9. I have never heard of Athiests rising up and declaring a jihad and killing thousands of people by suicide bomb and other means. You have no idea how well I understand the complexities of other civilizations. Besides all you need to do is look through the world as a human. Senseless violence is wrong. You want to defend a group that veiws senseless violence as an everyday option then go ahead. Religion or culture, is no excuse for suicide bombings.
  10. A political Statement made using Violence. Is it really that surprising that in a region of the world where comitting suicide and taking as many innocents as you can is common place that this would happen? These extremist's get crazy over a bloody cartoon. This was an election! Holy Hannah, they must be going totally off-the-wall-bonkers over Bhutto. Turncoat, traitor, to the Taliban. Viewed as corrupt and politically dangerous to the current regime. They killed one of their own as far as I can see. Regardless of who she was killed by. The senseless violence is tragic. But I don't feel any worse because of who she was. The real problem is that Pakistan is just another state in which violence is used for political outcome.
  11. Poor MB. Still feeling persecuted I see.
  12. To borrow a line from the White Stripes - Icky Thump "What Americans(Canadians) what, nothin' better to do? Why don't you kick yourself out, you're an immigrant too. Who's using who? What should we do? You can't be a pimp and a prostitute too." Simple fact is we need immigration. Get over it.
  13. These ads were most likely prepared in the likelyhood of us already being in an election, over the the throne speech. I think since the CPC has the money they just decided to run them anyway. What I don't like is having to see political ads, of any kind, outside of an election.
  14. Thin these idiots out of our gene pool. I like my murderers and rapists extra crispy, thanks.
  15. Just pointing out the obvious in the type of terminology you choose to use. Went over your head I'm afraid.
  16. You see right here you grouped people with diferent political views from your own, into a single entity, and use the term "left" in a derogatory, bigotted, manner. Your mindset is obvious. Sad, but obvious.
  17. What garbage! Your cheerful personality must be what keeps so many people coming back to these boards.
  18. I for one said this was BS from the time it was announced.
  19. And yet you couldn't avoid it yourself. Nice to see your favorite target for a punching bag is still the same.
  20. I see the whole " Me and my shadow" routine is still alive and well.
  21. You can't put it more clearly. Or be more wrong. You should meet my Jewish atheist friends. According to you, they don't exist. The only reason they are considered Jewish is because of the religion. Take away the religion and there would never have been any Jews. Ergo, even Jews who no longer practice judaism, are still only jewish due to religion. Obviously no matter how clearly things are spelled out for you M&M you still have comprehension issues.
  22. NO sorry, you don't get it. Without the religion there would be no jews. Period. I don't see how I can put it more clearly.
  23. I think you are the one who is ignoring the facts. The fact is, regardless of how YOU want to view Jewish people they are "jewish" due to the religion they or their ancestors followed.
  24. LMAO Whatever dude. So I can be Jewish without being Jewish? And I can also be Jewish without being Jewish? Does this actually make sense to you? So the Jews of the Holocaust were killed for being Jewish, not for being Jewish? Hahaha Thanks I needed a good laugh.
  25. Dude, if your jewish your jewish. It is a religion. Call it an ethnicity if you want but it is still an ethnicity based upon a person's religion. Sorry but there is no way around it.
