  1. Seems to me Ontario's health care went into the crapper under the leadership of a conservative provincial govt. Aren't a few of the bigshots from that govt. now in high profile positions within Harper's govt.? Right no need to bring in new people. You know the kind of people that dry clean your clothes, run the convenience store, drive your taxi, pick your veggies, and do other jobs "regular" Canadians won't do. And to think all these people also need housing. Bloody hell, I sure am mad that we had to build houses and infrastructure for these people. I am sure some are even smart enough to learn to drive. Damn them for buying cars. And Harper would have sent this same underfunded military into Iraq on top of Afghanistan. What is your point?
  2. Pot is EVIL! Glad to see the billions the US has spent on brainwashing the public is not limitted to their own ignorant populace.
  3. Why support culture when you can give another tax break to the rich?
  4. Yes indeed. It seems the iron fist Harper held his party members in during the last election, has some holes. Some of the sand is slipping through.
  5. Didn't quite catch all of it with my limited french, but it would seem to be accurate and possibly effective. He would have sent us into Iraq, which I knew from the get go was a BS war. On the other hand Harper does support the troops in Afghanistan and the reason we have to be there, which I agree totally with. Harper does want to increase the military, which I agree with. With all the resources in the arctic that will becoming available with new technology and a warmer climate we need to be able to defend them. Before no one cared because it was just barren ice. Even then we were/are battling with the Dutch over some tiny island off the west coast of Greenland. If people don't support those things then this ad is perfect. As for myself this ad would give me a reason not to vote NDP. As I am for our troops in Afghanistan and I think a few billion a year more spent on the military is a good thing.
  6. And how would Quebec leaving Canada affect everyone?
  7. So having a surplus incase of an emergency is a bad thing? I am sure the US wishes it had had even 0.2% of it's budget as a surplus to deal Katrina. I am not opposed to the Govt. running a surplus. I don't even mind when it is used to further pay down our Nat. debt. But I know for sure, not have some extra cash on hand to deal with an emergency is foolish. Everybody knows we are in an economic correction. To blame it on the CPC is wrong. As long as that $100 for crack and smokes keeps coming every month who cares, right? As long as Richard Mountbottom-Humpwiggle III saves $3000 in GST on his new Porsche, life is great, right! As long as handouts the CPC give away, keep the people voting, keep coming, who cares most of the money is usually taxed back, right? As long as those who can already afford to put their kids in sports, get a $500 rebate for doing so, the world ir coming up roses, right? As long as Harper sticks to the sweaters and stays away from the cowboy outfits, we'll all have fewer nightmares, right?
  8. Harper has admittied he knew an offer was being made. ANY offer of reward for a vote in the HoC is bribery. Just because they didn't come to Cadman with an envelope of cash, a la sponsorship, doesn't mean it wasn't a bribe.
  9. scandal - election finances, emerson, bernier, cadman.... lies - The party is based on a lie. I actually saw MacKay promise a fellow original CPC party memeber that if his backers for leader put their support behind him he "would not" merge the CPC with the Alliance. "Although Peter MacKay campaigned against a merger of the Progressive Conservatives and the Canadian Alliance Party, in the end he was instrumental..." http://canadaonline.about.com/od/conservat...petermackay.htm bribery - cadman
  10. You mean the same KOOL-AID the Conservatives have been feeding us as they pump billions into Quebec? OR the Kool-Aid that we've been fed so that we believe $100 a month is more than adequate subsitution for actual daycare spaces? And then tax the $100 a month to boot! Or the Kool-Aid we've been fed that tells us a $0.02 GST cut benifits people who spend less than $50,000 on GST applicable items.? Spend $50,000 on GST applicable items to save $1,000 OR the Kool-Aid we've been fed so that we believe the CPC are the party of integrity, when none has existed since they got Emerson to cross the floor within hours of the last election? They railroaded Stronach only weeks before! Called her a dog and everything!! Or the Kool-Aid that makes us belive the CPC is the "fiscally responsible" party? They throw money around like they are using Daddy's credit card. Personally I am ready for a change of flavour.
  11. The GST cut is a farce. It only helps those who already have lots of money. EX. Who gets more out of the GST cut? The guy who just spent $90,000 on a Benz or the poor slob who spent $6,000 on a used Chevy? The Benz buyer saves $1800, enough to rent a nice cottage for the week with his family. The used Chevy buyer saves $120, barely enough to fill his tank 2 times. So who is the GST cut really for? $20,000 of disposable income spent on GST items saves $400. Whereas $100,000 of disposable income spent on GST items saves $2000. The GST cut was for the wealthy. To spin it it any other way is just that, SPIN. Didn't the CPC raise personal income tax to pay for this cut? Terrible policy. Right up there with the child care payoff/vote purchase.
  12. The Tories have done quite well for only having a minority. Give them total power and in half the time the Liberals will be able to whine "But the Conservatives....."
  13. Good grief! This "but the Liberals..." line is getting soooooooooo PATHETIC. Stand up for cris'sakes and do what you promised! BE open, accountable, transparent and for god sakes man, show some integrity!
  14. Don't forget INTEGRITY! But that went out the window when Emerson jumped ship within hours of the election.
  15. Cite for this. A highly dubious statement. Either confirm or retract.
  16. Not really. "But the Liberals" is used for everything under the sun that the Tories are ashamed of.
  17. Luandering money through legalized pot??? I don't think so. The CPC did organized crime a huge favour when they took a hardline stance on marijuana. Prohibition of alcohol is what made the mafia powerful, and prohibition on pot is doing the same to organized crime today. Quebec is a huge supplier of "industrial weed". Good stuff, but not top quality. Hmmm.... being in a position to blackmail public officials is totally absurd? Ofcourse no money or contracts would ever be garnered from being in such a position. From what I personally know, a lot of bikers have jobs in one sector that could easily benifit from influencing government officials. Construction. A total for-instance: What if Bernier had been doing a good job. Quebecer's are warming up to the CPC because of Bernier's professional ways, with success after success when sent abroad. Harper decides to award him by using govt funding to do something nice in Bernier's riding. Perhaps opening a Govt. office which provides local employment. Didn't Harper already put two airbases somewhere? Anyways, this new endeavour is going to need to be built. Now if a biker gang had influence over him, they could get Bernier to "suggest" that the finance minister "look" at the bid from his "friend's" Contstrucion company, who I am sure would be amongst the lowest bidders anyway. Or simply award the contract, as I believe this govt has already done once. Now this is where your money laundering would take place, my friend, Alta4ever. Not only that, but there are millions to be made in imaginary cost over-runs and production delays. To start, it could be as simple as the girlfriend introducing Bernier to some guy at a party. It snowballs from there. Bernier may never find out the guy is a biker for years. Just a scenario of what could happen. Sound more like a John Grisham novel, but my thoughts are based on a true story of what happens when politics and construction get in bed together. Brown & Root
  18. Damn Straight!!!! I would add: "Get your collective arses out of the safety of your bases, show some balls and come out with us Canadians to where the real fight is. "
  19. Mafia - Been around for almost 100 years in Canada, granted new ones like Russian have been popping up. Biker Gangs - Going 3 generations back from those people I know. They are here, and have been for a while. I agree they should not be allowing people to immigrate who are suspected of being involved in these organizations. I would happily welcome a policy of "We'll send you any criminal that is wanted for a crime within his/her country of citizenship." We need to tighten immigration not eliminate it. Welfare sponges - I would wager that those on welfare born in Canada greatly out number those on welfare born abroad.
  20. You are comparing Canada to countries or cultures that have been around for thousands of years. In Canada we are a relatively new country and totally new culture that has thrived on immigration since the beginning. To say "send us your best and brightest" to other countriesis nothing I am ashamed of. However that fact that some highly skilled people are working menial jobs is disturbing. The other fact is that with our porous immigration policy we have let far too many undesirables and outright criminals into this country and need to tighten things up. Hmmmm...... if only there was a Party that believed in both.
  21. That's funny. Don't quite agree with it, but it made me laugh.
  22. Well, first they would have to be in power for more than two consecutive majorities. You know, to get all the right judges and bureaucrats in place.
  23. It's a real inbred hick town is it? lol Suddenly scenes from Deliverance are popping into my head. Tinfoil Hats all around!
  24. That seems to be the point all the die-hard CPC supporters conveniently forget. Especially when they cry "but the Liberals...."
