  1. I'm starting to wonder if people realize that others would think poorly of them if they ever acted like this in public.
  2. Your opinion is noted. When you add that something is offensive, then you're flagging the issue as being a matter of public morality... which means it's a numbers game. I get it. People should be able to have their own definitions of things. But others won't accept you, for example, if you call yourself a conservative but reject Chud politics, Trump, witch burning, Qanon etc.
  3. Why does it matter if it's a low-skilled job or not? High skilled jobs are also replaced by TFWs such as medical professionals, information technologists and so on
  4. The day has passed when the liberal stalwarts defend immigration policy unreservedly. They will still do that with refugee policy which is a different problem.
  5. Maybe you can start a tech support thread here to discuss 🤔
  6. People don't have an understanding of their own limits to understand risk, threats, priority etc. The grown-ups used to do this for them.
  7. A key flaw seems to be that we expect the public to approve policies based on statistical concepts that require understanding, or.. if not, then trust. I once knew someone who didn't believe in seat belts, because they thought car accidents were a matter of Fate. So any of you chuds out there, those who self-identify as such, get thee to the village wizard or priest.
  8. There's a lack of humility, I find, in those who reject conservative institutions and their wisdom. Throwing the Internet on a population like this has turned the public sphere back to medieval times.
  9. Welcome to Anecdotalville... It's a great place... for some...
  10. I appreciate that you are bringing thoughtful and provocative material to the discussion.
  11. Yeah, just look it up folks. Not hard.
  12. Almost any large Canadian city is better than any large American city. We don't have no-go zones where people don't walk around, like they do.
  13. Not exactly - it's not even CITED. Another citless post: "Here's what I think, supported by nothing" Please, people, just post what you had for lunch. It's more interesting...
  14. But FOX said ... 'No Kings' Rallies were smaller than Trump rallies ! How can that be ? Is FOX lying ?
  15. See my post about anecdotal evidence. There is no mathematical formula to prove the virtue of a mob, either way. Rather, we need wise people to unify us and stop putting the magnifying glass on small numbers (or even single cases) of violent incidents...
  16. Hey there 👋 Google Anecdotal Fallacy... https://newrepublic.com/post/202008/trump-supporters-violence-no-kings-protests-hit-and-run
  17. Yes, that's why we use cites to back things up right ? I don't make things up but I do form "opinions" that may not be well-grounded as does everyone. Counter me with a cite... Now the PEW polling asks a LOT of questions and you can pick and choose things that show them more or less assimilated. But I found this one and it jumped out at me: That's 92% vs 91% Muslims vs General Public proud to be American. Are you surprised ? I was. https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2017/07/26/identity-assimilation-and-community/ https://www.cato.org/blog/rapid-us-muslim-assimilation-continues-alongside-rapid-muslim-immigration People regularly come on here and provide long peans to their own glorified opinions. Challenge folks if they're not backing up their opinions, is my advice.
  18. This is a myth. I have quoted PEW surveys that show Muslims generally integrate to mainstream values more fluidly than fundamentalist Christians. You have some good insights but you refuse to use cites to objective surveys. I have noticed this before. I don't think you're disingenuous but I have shown you cites that show your statements are incorrect in the past. Open your mind a little and you will learn and grow - free advice.
  19. We are consistently to the right of our allies in Europe.
  20. 1. Exactly correct. Separatist sentiment is way down in Quebec. The country is united in wanting a better standard of living. Destroying our institutions and going full libertarian isn't the cure. 2. They hate dialogue, they hate facts, they hate instituions and they hate Canada. I'm speaking of the Chuds here, not anyone on this board (unless they put their hands up and self-identify that is)
  21. A Telltale sign is when they quote absolute dollars versus percentage of budget, percentage of GDP etc. Did you know we spent 5 million on... Foreign aid is used for strategic reasons, and a lot of the business goes back to Canadian firms. Argue the points as you like, but the Neo populists make everything into an opera of outrage. I can't wait until politics comes back to the point where we're talking about real issues.
  22. I knew before opening this would be and other citeless post on a theme that's been covered everywhere before. " Save us from the immigrants, they provide nothing and yet every government for the past two generations has been bringing them in " 🥱
