I was just in Scandinavia. They have a lower standard of living, generally speaking, than we do in Canada.

Australia is definitely more socialist than Canada. Wage intervention by the feds, the 'tall poppy' syndrome, 'fair go', living wage, etc. SSweden abandoned cradle-to-grave long ago, Denmark too and Norway can afford anything at all, anything

  2. Socialism may be the only way to save the earth and reverse climate change.

  3. MIchael Hardner is an astute member of this forum. he understands social justice, unlike many fools here.
  4. I will say that socialism is on the rise. Look at the hundred of thousands of people who marched in New York for the planet. It's ironic that capitalistic greed and pollution is leading us to a need for world wide socialism to initiate climate justice. Michael Hardner, do you agree?
  5. I actually agree with Hal here. If you read the Communist Manifesto you will see many parallels to social justice. A society where we are all equal. A society where privatization doesn't oppress people. Many people don't understand Marxism. It has been given a bad name by neo-liberals so they can continue to privatize all that they can. The Public education establishment stands up against all the neo-liberal ideals that are slowly permeating society.
  6. You know far more on PROBABLY every topic? Beyond that, I have a hard time understanding run-on gibberish. Learn to write before responding to me.
  7. Oh, I see. You just evade when challenged. Yo play the role of a know-it-all, yet resort to personall attacks when your foolishness is exposed.
  8. Do you agree with Betty Frieden feminism? Melissa Farley feminism? Florence Rush feminism? Linda Evans feminism? It's easy to throw out terminology while producing no evidence of understanding.
  9. Most people don't understand modern public education. What's the point of memorizing useless facts when I can simply and quickly access facts on my Iphone?
  10. I have a youtube video of a teacher using rap and hip hop to teach students.
  11. Now this is a superb example of how to teach social justice. Use rap and hip hop to connect with students who are at risk. Many of you have no clue how important social justice is. many of you have no clue what social justice is. Thank goodness Canada is home to many innovative public education teachers who see the promotion of social justice as the most important part of schooling.
  12. Teaching is the only profession where you have to steal supplies from home and bring them to work due to chronic underfunding.
  13. It's time for teachers to stop lying to parents. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/naomi-lazarus/bc-schools-funding-isubsidizebced_b_5870234.html?utm_hp_ref=tw
  14. The fight for public education in BC continues as teachers return to classrooms to still find schools still underfunded and understaffed.

    1. Shady

      Shady

Underfunded is completely subjective. BC has one of the best funded systems in the world.

Shows how little you know, Shady.....very little.

  15. What's the need for defining it in my own words? Neo-liberalism is an ideology hell-bent on privatizing everything while giving corporation hue breaks. Are you all for giving corporations bigger tax cuts, waldo? You are starting to come across as phony.
  16. Waldo, why do you choose to be ignorant? I provided you many articles on neo-liberalism. It's funny that you constantly blather on about Harper yet you have no clue what neo-liberalism is. Oh, the irony I tell ya....the irony. You want to be the know-it-all, yet when a subject that you know nothing about comes up, you provide a hit and run type response. You and I think alike on many issues, but you need to stop pretending you know everything.
  17. True Social Justice? Where everyone is able to live comfortably. Where the riches of a country benefit all. Public schools promote social justice, waldo. I'm sorry you have no clue what social justice is. You hate the CPC and Harper yet you mock social justice. Seems like you are a one issue pony who talks out of both sides of his mouth when he doesn't know something he pretends he does.
  18. I'm confused as to what you are getting at here. Criticizing things that don't matter doesn't really help society, does it waldo? I would say the CPC and LPC have no interest in fostering true social justice. What's your opinion, waldo?
  19. Hearing stories of BC teachers having to beg for paper. Yes, you read correctly, paper. The assault on public education and democracy continues. And most of you are too naive to understand.

    1. Hal 9000

      Hal 9000

Yes, there is an assault on public education. I didn't want to say it until the strike was over though. Suckers!!!

    2. Shady

      Shady

They should be moving to paperless anyways.

  20. Most of you have no clue; none. Memorizing times tables, and forcing kids to complete drill and kill worksheets stymie creativity. Some of you need to walk into a modern school. This is the future of math. http://curriculum.org/secretariat/justice/index.html
  21. Now I hear BC teachers are going back to their under funded classrooms. I hope teachers refuse to pay out of pocket for supplies. Then parents will really know what is going on, in this effort by the government to privatize education.
  22. I'm predicting an NDP victory in the next BC election.

The vote will be common sense Vs. emotion

  23. I've heard there are a lot of angry teachers. But I'm glad to see them go back for the kids. The BC Liberals have lost a lot of support over their handling of this lock out. In 6 years the BCTF will get the funding required from an NDP government.
  24. Well played? Are you delusional. They failed miserably. The citizenry is ticked off at the government and will be keeping a very close eye on public education from now on. No more letting the government off the hook for underfunding BC classrooms. The fight is far from over. http://www.momparadigm.com/2014/09/eyes-wide-open-education-crisis-bc-far/
  25. The government felt the heat. The BCTF bargained in good faith; the government did not. The public supported teachers, which must really burn PCT. And I herad the teachers will be getting a bonus which they deserve for being put through so much stress. Thanks to the BCTF kids and their families win.
