  1. Here waldo. This deals with the composition issue.
  2. One of the most ridiculous posts in this 65 page thread.
  3. A majority of classes are over 25 and many classes have 6 or 7 special needs students. There is no support for these kids. Think about that waldo. Volunteer some time in a public school some day waldo and see for yourself instead of writing nonsense on here. Go to a school in your city and experience for yourself what teachers have to deal with day in and day out.
  4. Teachers are fighting for classroom conditions for both students and teachers of the future. Roughly 30-50% of Canadian teachers leave the profession within their first 5 years in the profession. Replacing good and committed teachers with other good and committed teachers is not as easy as you seem to think.
  5. Exactly. Also take big numbers and multiply. For example 867 x 383. Do this to prove understanding. 800 x 300 = 24,000 800 x 80 = 64,000 800 x 3 = 2400 60 x 300 = 18,000 60 x 80 = 4800 60 x 3 = 180 7 x 300 = 2100 7 x 80 = 560 7 x 3 = 21 Add them all up and you get 332, 061.
  6. Overpaid? teachers in BC are the lowest paid in Canada. But you are simply a teacher bashing troll void of facts.
  7. A little off topic, but here is a look at a Social Justice course offered in BC. It's wonderful. https://www.bctf.ca/SocialJustice.aspx?id=17508
  8. Scroll down and look at the right side. Look at the poll. That is why the government is acting. They have lost all support. You and PCT have egg on your face. http://bc.ctvnews.ca/vancouver-news-headlines
  9. They care about their students and fighting against the attack on public education. You don't know what is happening behind the scenes. The government blinked because they've realized they are making many mistakes and the public is overwhelmingly against them.
  10. It's scary to think that with gun control, the only people with guns will be the outlaws. That kind of scares me.
  11. To have a full understanding of what multiplication is, kids need to draw pictures. Your lack of knowledge on the latest educational research astounds me, yet, doesn't surprise me.
  12. You draw 7 circles and place 3 dots in each circle. This shows understanding, not useless, baseless memorization. Teachers are doing a great job despite all the adverse conditions that hamper our jobs like underfunding, which is happening in BC.
  13. Rote learning is a waste of time. Long division is a waste of time. Education in the modern day is about engaging students. the discovery method allows students to learn at their own pace. Memorizing times tables doesn't lead to understanding. Many of you are stuck in the way thins were done in the 50s. Sorry, but this is the 21st century where collaboration is more important than memorizing useless facts. If I need to regurgitate facts I will consult my smartphone. Too many people on here comment on education and think they are experts because they once went to school. That's like saying I'm a highway constructing expert because I drive on highways.
  14. You are the one making a big deal out of nothing. What a useless thread. There are huge problems out there and you focus on a T-Shirt. What a joke. No wonder this country is in decline.
  15. I'm no fan of the current neo-liberal federal government, but who really cares about a T shirt. This is the partisan crap that is destroying this country. There are major problems and some people get all bent out of shape over a T Shirt.
  16. Doesn't matter. Momentum has swung very strongly in favor of the BCTF. The minister is now asking teachers to go back to work while they mediate. He's feeling the heat and I'm enjoying watching this government squirm.
  17. Vince Ready is ready to mediate and after it's all said and done, PCT will have a whole lot of egg to wipe off his face. LOL. I told everyone from the beginning that BC teachers were getting screwed. The public knows it. And now the government is backtracking. They tried to break the BCTF but only made it stronger. Teachers in BC, among the lowest paid in Canada, are finally going to get some respect. Hey PCT, it must bug you to see how this is playing out after all your teacher bashing posts. Don't mess with public education pal.
  18. Hey PCT, you forgot to mention the court cases. The Liberals lost. How convenient of you to not mention that.

The whole reason there's no deal is the gov is trying to get the union to abandon their court case against the gov. They've won 2 decisions, and the gov is on its last appeal. High stakes.

  19. Here's an interesting perspective that I agree with. B.C.'s Public Education Crisis is a Feminist Issue. http://www.gender-focus.com/2014/08/24/b-c-s-public-education-crisis-is-a-feminist-issue/
