  1. This violence is a reminder that we are not there yet in building a compassionate, inclusive world.

  3. Nice anecdotes. Too bad they are meaningless.
  4. You trying teaching kids who come to school hungry. You tr getting positive results with kids living in poverty. It's easy to sit at your keyboard pretending to know what it's like. You have no clue what teachers deal with these days. And Topaz...this isn't the 1950s anymore. Leave it to Beaver is not reality.
  5. I don't know one single teacher that became a teacher for benefits, pay, or summers off. Your ignorance is not warranted.
  6. All the teachers I've come across are good.
  7. I am predicting that the democrats will continue to have a majority in the senate. My political predictions are rarely wrong. (Ontario Election - I called it.)

Prove it based on more than one election.

  8. This is an excellent example of teachers putting the needs of students first. Kudos to your wife, sharkman.
  9. He can relate to Canadians of all stripes. he is battle hardened and is the son of Canada's greatest prime minister. Justin learned a lot from his dad. He continues to impress me as he grows into a world-respected politician who understands the average citizen.
  10. Wow. I have 8 warning points for being an honest, no-holds barred commentator on this forum. Wow.

You ever get the feeling some days that you're just talking to yourself?

  11. Justin will be the next PM and I will remind you of this quote. Justin shows true leadership that appeals to the used-to-be apathetic young voters. You will be eating those words around this time next year.
  12. The BC government knows they lost the PR battle in the teacher lock out. They are lucky there isn't an election on the horizon or they would be where Kim Campbell was. The residents of BC are ticked off at the assault on public education, and rightfully so.
  13. Are people here really foolish enough to debate climate change with me and Waldo?

Canada's contribution to CO2 emission is so small that nothing any Canadian government does will have the slightest impact on world CO2 levels.

Mightn't that give you a clue as to how isolated the deniers are nowadays?

  16. I always give arguments. i am against the obvious assault on unions. Where do you stand besides waiting for others to post what you might want to say?
  17. Look at this and understand.
  18. You know what they say about people who criticize typos........simple-minded.
  19. Read the links. All the info you need is there. Put some effort into something for once.
  20. Bill C-377 has a lot to do with federal politics. Try becoming informed for once. Also, I said unions...as in unions in general...not specifically teacher unions/associations. Brush up on your reading skills please.

Chomsky is a great thinker. I see why you dislike him.

  22. Anti-union rhetoric is being heard quite often as we inch closer to a federal election. It's no secret that the CPC, much like the Ontario PC party, will be looking to hurt unions. We need to do what we can so the results of the federal election mirror the results of the Ontario election. The public is very much in favour of unions. We can't let an ideological party damage all unions do for the working class. Over the past decade there has been an increasing effort by conservative lawmakers and industrialists who bankroll them to limit or eliminate collective bargaining rights and many of the gains made through collective bargaining. My colleagues in Manitoba that I converse with through social media have led me to a website from their Teachers' Society that neatly sums up the attack on unions. There is a lot of reading here but if any of you want to truly understand the gravity of this situation, then I STRONGLY suggest you read each link carefully. http://www.mbteach.org/unionwatch/unionmain.html
  23. I've spent all morning I've spent all morning crunching numbers for the possible seat projection after the 2015 election. My extensive political science background has allowed me to devise a formula that has been very accurate. I am the person here who projected an easy win for Wynne in the Ont. election. here is what my formula shows: LPC - 168 CPC - 111 NDP - 54 BQ - 4 GP -1 We are looking at a Liberal minority. The problem with this forum is too many armchair experts who really know nothing.
