  1. All this shows is that right wing politics are not welcome in progressive Canada anymore.
  2. In short, you are fear mongering. Ontario will be fine. Ontarians know it too as they gave Wynne a huge majority. If the fine people of Ontario believed as you do, we would have a Hudak government. Anyone who goes after unions that fight for the low and middle class will never win an election. Pay attention to the federal election.
  3. Again, you are being a fear monger. I believe things will be fine. The Ontario government will stimulate the economy will keeping necessary services.
  4. That's over a year old. A maybe you need to realize that public school is more than numeracy and literacy. If you read this, pay attention to what the vice president of the manitoba teachers' society says. He makes the most sense. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/making-it-all-add-up-284203931.html
  5. No bi deal. We still receive quality services. Too many people make a big deal out of debt.
  6. I keep hearing about how bad shape Ontario is. I don't see it. I see things looking up. Spending more on public education will benefit everyone. Provincial debt is way overrated. Ontario will be just fine.
  7. They are given the advantage of being compassionate, productive members of society that value diversity and inclusiveness.
  8. Striving for excellence in Ontario. http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/about/renewedVision.pdf
  9. Smallc, you are right. You live in Manitoba where the government understands the importance of public education. You are lucky.
  10. Full day Kindergarten gives kids a positive head start. I have a hard time believing that anyone could be against full day K, being taught by professionals instead of sitting at home watching TV. But nothing on this forum surprises me anymore.
  11. I'm not forcing anything on anyone. I promote inclusiveness and diversity. If you are against that then you are the one with the problem, not me.
  12. I'm wondering how this will all play out. The Liberals have treated the teachers decently over the years, after the disaster of the Harris years. Teachers do not want to o back to those days where Harris made teachers' lives miserable. Public education is one of the most important public services. Money needs to be spent to allow the system to work efficiently. In y opinion, the teachers aren't asking for much. http://www.mondaq.com/canada/x/339068/employee+rights+labour+relations/Province+Of+Ontario+And+Teachers+Unions+Appear+Set+For+A+Tense+Showdown Full day Kindergarten is awesome. but classes need to be smaller. More teachers need to be hired. http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=501734&playlistId=1.2122860&binId=1.815892&playlistPageNum=1&binPageNum=1
  13. This article is the opposite of what we need. we need to end this archaic style of thinking. Memorizing times tables do not develop math skills. This article made me vomit a bit. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/11251221/Nine-year-olds-should-recite-times-tables-by-heart-says-Schools-Minister.html
  14. actually, I disagree with much of Mighty AC says. Mighty AC, you said previously that you weren't a teacher? That's funny, because you sure talk like one. I would also say that students today do not have a better grasp of grammar. But that is because it is not emphasized. I like your quote on group work. Forced group work is forcing kids to collaborate which the is an all-important skill.
  15. Not yet. But I am currently working on it.
  16. I don't have a problem with anyone. I fight for social justice and diversity. People who dislike me for that aren't worth my time.
  17. Teacher unions fight for good working conditions for teachers which leads to better outcomes for learners.
  18. Teachers provide the most important public service for maintaining democracy. It's everyone's duty to pay into the public school system.
  19. Where were you when they were criticizing my typos? Anyway, you're right; who cares.
  20. This is an interesting concept. Students are becoming more aware of the environment. Young students are leading the way in making our world a better place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkDMISUyaaU&feature=youtu.be
  21. I criticize spelling to those who have criticized me previously.
  22. You don't have a Masters in Education, so you never really will have a decent understanding of 21st Century Education.
  23. Rote memorization does not promote collaboration or creativity, which are 21st Century Skills.
  24. So you are a drill and kill advocate like some of the dinosaurs in this article? http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/09/13/frustrated-professors-convince-schools-to-step-back-from-new-math-and-go-back-to-basics/
  25. We need nationalized daycare NOW. "The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense." - Karl Marx

Kids don't need MOTHERS ever, they need somebody to feed and change them right from birth. So, its kids taken right from the delivery room into state facilities. What could go wrong?

Argus, the NDP and Liberals are pushing for much needed national daycare. Marx had some excellent ideas and some of our current politicians realize that. But you think it's trolling. Good grief.
