The next big thing will be the blame game. I mean if circumstances play out to an election call, all the parties will blame each oth..err, all the parties will blame the Tories for it in an attempt to suck up to the voting public. In truth, Dion is to blame for being so incompetent that a left leaning country like Canada can only muster 28% in a poll. You know its pretty bad when that happens, only hard lefties would rather have rank incompetence (like the kind which lost track of a billion dollars in the Human Resources Ministry and spent 2 billion on a gun registry that all of the criminals ignore) than a party that can actually govern. What say you, Herr Doktor Dobbin, can the Liberal party save itself by removing its head in time?

Another good poiont raised by Herr Doktor, but in reality the business world does far more devious things than compile lists to send out greeting cards, although they do that too. Ever used a Safeway club card or similar product at umpteen grocery/big box stores? Because they study and track your purchasing habits, looking for a way to manipulate you to buy more. Dozens of corporations compile databases containing very personal information which is bought and sold, again in the name of business and used for profit, all done legally, although illegal transactions are exposed now and then. But no, Herr Doktor is right, compiling a list to send out greeting cards to a target market of voters is just crazy.

Making a judgement call by simply comparing each side and meeting in the middle is no way to make a decision. If judges did that many innocent people would be found guilty.

We've had comments from those of Jewish decent, here's some support for the Tories from Jewish lobby groups. Has anyone heard yet of legal or criminal action being brought against the Tories for sending out greeting cards to ethnic groups? I haven't heard of a one, and if you discount the dozens of attempts to start inquiries and investigations by one jdobbin, I don't think there are any (I can imagine dobbin down at the local RCMP pleading his case to a bored member who wonders how in hell he manages to get all the citizens arrest types on his shift). In all reality, the problem at the top of the list for the LPC is Dion. He just can't cut it. He's not a leader and he is certainly not memorable and I'm quite surprised the LPC seems content to let him do increasing damage to the party. However, when I read liberal supporter comments on this forum, their usual strategy is to attack Harper and ignore the elephant in the room. I hope they keep on ignoring.

The issue of car prices in Canada vs U.S. is not going away. Some have saved over 8000 by simply buying across the line, adding the daytime running lights and km speedometer, and paying whatever they ask for at Customs Canada. Honda has responded by not honoring warranties of American cars brought into Canada, but they charge 2 different prices for the same Honda civic built in a Canadian factory. If said car happens to end up on an American lot, it's much less. If this issue is still around when I am looking to get a new car, I will not hesitate to stick it to Canadian dealerships.

The bottom line is, no matter how you or anyone feels about this, it is not illegal. It may disappoint or annoy some, but so what. Political parties have been doing that since they've been around. Life isn't fair, so why don't you get on the net and start a whine session over it. Nothing will change, but you may feel you've stuck it to the man.

Excellent points, I think the Liberals are getting really desperate and this shows it. And Dobbin, I have never given the phone company consent to use my name number in the phone book. I also have never given my consent for businesses to use my phone number for telemarketer puposes, which let me tell you is FAR more annoying than a holiday greeting card. You are plain wrong, which is clear to everybody in the room except you.

Rather than write him off, Harper is probably hoping that the Liberal party keeps Dion propped up long enough for an election, which is probably what ole' Jack Layton is hoping as well.
