There is no way you can get 36% out of your link's data, unless you cherry pick. Four of the results are 39% and above.

Conservatives bringing back death penalty for Canadians abroad
sharkman replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here is Dr dobbin claiming to be non-partisan. I see you are still wrong about the death penalty. We have no death penalty in Canada, dobbin. I am relieved, however, that our government will not be spending hard earned taxpayer dollars on Canadian criminals so stupid to be committing crimes worthy of death in other countries. Maybe you could start a liberal fund on saving Canadian criminals. -
Hmm, that's funny, for a while there you were repeating in every thread (even ones in US politics) how the Tories were at 31%, tied with the Liberals in whatever poll it was. You repeated yourself so much we didn't even have to read you, and now you say 36% is where they usually are? Get your story straight.

Ah, but the vast majority of your usage of the Post has been for cherry picking purposes, but keep reading it, they do have many good conservative ideas. It's not a change in policy on the death penalty. Again, it's a decision not to spend hard earned taxpayer dollars on those criminals who are STUPID enough to murder or whatever in foreign countries that have the death penaty. If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime. Plain and simple. -
Sex Abuse at Oprah's South African School

Nonsense, giving these children an education will give them opportunities they could never dream of, even possibly serving their own people as President, or Prime Minister. Or they could remain uneducated and live in poverty, drinking bad water until they die at age nine. Funny, though, how the MSM gives her a pass on this. We would get a face full of coverage, however, if she happened to be a republican senator or a priest. -

That's quite funny how you quote the National Post when they disagree with the Tories, but never when they agree with them. Could you by chance be cherry picking your quotes? Or am I bashing you again? In any government, it will be impossible to please all of the people all of the time. -
My mistake, I missed that post for some reason. Explain how I bashed you, my comment on your Tory phobia is quite accurate. You are impatient, dobbin. Only five ads have run, weaning Canadians from the Liberal government takes time. Already they are up in the polls to 40%.

How the hell does making an unpopular decision help them "do what they could to lay their hands on power"? It doesn't, it hurts their chances. But you, and others like you on this forum, have framed the issue in a skewed fashion soas to make it seem that the Tories love killing people (and babies, don't forget the babies!) and are just waiting for the chance to spring the death penalty on an unsuspecting Canadian public with glee. All they are doing is saying that Canadian criminals stupid enough to commit crimes in other countries who have much harsher penalties (and make no mistake, this is REALLY STUPID, when they could be killing people or whatever at home and getting 5-6 years for it), should not expect the Canadian taxpayer to shell out for their foolishness. End of story. I accept that some will have an immediate knee jerk reaction to this, and in a democratic society, it's their right. What I have a problem with is those who then blow it all out of proportion and try to use this manufactured hysteria to manipulate opinion. -
Your use of the margrace quote in this post is not from this thread or this topic. Your singleminded focus at bashing the Tories on each and every thread is predictible, but at least confine your quoting to posts from the thread you are commenting on. The margrace quote seems incorrect, incidentally, since women were fine with the Liberal's attack ads on Harper and were sucked in by them for a few years. Liberal fans may not like attack ads aimed at the LPC, but it's just tough noogies. If ever there was a time to expose the LPC, it's now under Dion.
-
Huh? The Liberals successfully bad mouthed the Conservatives for years using the *scary scary* strategy, even though they hadn't done anything under Harper since they were never in power. It worked and kept them out of power until finally when the Liberal regime sank under its own weight. Which reminds me, was it the Liberals that floated that attack ad concerning soldiers in the streets of Canada if Harper became PM?

Flaherty Says No to Chrysler & Hargrove
sharkman replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Raising the alarm? Haven't you heard that the U.S. economy has been teetering for a few months now? And since we are so closely tied to them our economy should have a down turn as well, though not as drastic since we are in much better shape. A recession, so what, those are a normal part of the business cycle. Why would you not look at the big picture? Because it looks too good? Huge surpuses, paying off billions in federal debt, historic low unemployment, and the Torys at the helm for it all! -

U.S. Presidential Elections 2008
sharkman replied to moderateamericain's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ralph Nader would still have a big impact. Don't you remember the last 2 US elections where some ridings had less than 1000 votes separating the loser from the winner? Since Dobson wouldn't vote Dem, he'd probably abstain. -
Dion to "Re-visit" GST Tax Cut if Elected
sharkman replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That Dion is a real knee slapper, eh? Dollars to donuts within a couple days he will 'explain' what he really means, which will involve much in the way of back-pedalling. This alone ought to be worth a 2 point drop in the next poll. -

Crisis feared as US water supplies dry up
sharkman replied to margrace's topic in Canada / United States Relations
How about you give your definition of a deal in this matter that would be best for us. Somehow I think it involves stiffing the Americans. Let's also not forget it was the Liberals who put us in Afghanistan... -
I hadn't thought of the GST promise, and all of the lies that followed. Probably most liberals don't mind how their party kept changing its promises regarding the GST. But I think Joe Canadian resents being lied to and is glad to see the GST coming down even if the Liberals try to make yet another promise with regard to the GST, that this time they'd increase it if they got voted in.

Crisis feared as US water supplies dry up
sharkman replied to margrace's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Part of the problem in Georgia apparently is a major dam there and the refusal to reduce or stop the run off. It would kill fish, but in the light of the situation, certain measures are needed. They report there is only a 90 day supply of drinking water left. -
U.S. Presidential Elections 2008
sharkman replied to moderateamericain's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
On the other hand, Ralph Nader would like to run. This would split the left vote and help Republican win the white house. -
So this is new information, not some variety of old that's been floating around in one form or another? Doesn't this mean if he received more income that year than he claimed, he would pay the additional that he owes, plus maybe a penalty. Not surprised that the CBC is all over this though, they've been grinding an axe for Mulroney for a long time. This doesn't sound near as bad as what Chretien did IMO.

Amsterdam: Religion of peace strikes again
sharkman replied to ScottSA's topic in The Rest of the World
I would have thought my answer would be quite obvious, but anyway, they should keep using the sinks. If they want to misuse the facilities, that is their problem. Again, they now live in an infidel country and that's the way the ball bounces. -
I'm sorry but this is quite rich. Canadian corporations are presently ripping off Canadians with regard to the new buying power of the Canadian dollar. Want to buy a new car? Stay the hell away from Canadian dealerships and get the same Canadian made Honda Civic in the States. Corporations need to wake up.
-
Wow, liberals never demand cuts from government like they do when a Tory is in power! 20% income tax cut, eh? 50% corporate tax cut, eh? Hell, let's make it 80% across the board and be done with it LOL! Back to reality, these cuts amount to 60 billion over 5 years (if I heard right). A major move in the right direction. If dobbins sudden cry for gigantic cuts is a sign, maybe Canadian liberals are indeed being weaned from the government teat. One can only hope.

Nothing like taking your competitors idea and beating him with it!
-
I don't know how the idea of making Canada competitive is connected with tax cuts, but any GST or income tax cut has nothing to do with it. And since nothing is done in a vacuum, mere tax cuts will not touch it. Since our dollar has risen a reported 20% in one year, no corporate tax cut will offset that. Business will have to do what it has always done: not depend on the Government for handouts, and adapt to the changing market place or die. Except, of course, for Air Canada and Bombadier.
