The Second Amendment was provoked by the need to protect the rights of citizens against potential tyranny by a centralized federal government. The Anti-federalists, who were concerned about the power of a standing military, argued that a well-regulated militia was necessary for the security of a free state. This sentiment was reflected in the 2nd Amendment’s language, which was drafted to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms was not infringed. The amendment’s purpose was to provide a constitutional check on congressional power and to ensure that citizens could defend themselves and their states against federal oppression The Constitution was June 21, 1788 The 2nd amendment was written 1789 The 2nd was an amendment to the Constitution, ratified Dec 17, 1991

.............. if he didn't he'd have been committing an arguably worse sin - suicide. Suicide is sin. God forbids murder (Exodus 20:13) and taking one's own life is murder. Basically, the sad sack (Christian) is fk'd either way. In any event, didn't the crusades involve a lot of Christians? -
............... if the Dems win a tripartite in the next General, and Ukraine still exists, what support will be provided to Ukraine with the WH under new management. Likely Putin's biggest concern. 53% want U.S. to help Ukraine 63% of Americans think neither side is winning the war More concern that Russia than Ukraine would violate peace deal, 79% vs. 26%

The ethernet makes it easy and (hug urself) there are no controls ............ controlled societies notwithstanding. Freedom has a price and Democracy is incredibly fragile. -
Good post. I'll admit I'm not a believer. I've witnessed occasions of extreme grief or personal loss where belief in a higher 'being' provides a huge degree of solace. I always envied those that could benefit from that solace provided. I think we're on the same page in our belief that faith is not about bricks and mortar, it's not about a hierarchy within said, brick and mortar. It's not about catchy phrases written at a time when few could even read to benefit. Faith in a time of tragedy is often in the form of a soliloquy ............ which by extension is a plea or a release of great emotion.

haha Of course it doesn't give them the right to perform mass shootings - those folks are besieged with hate, rage, demons, etc and have simply used the correct tool to carry out their murderous acts. My point is that if the Constitution isn't going to be amended anytime soon and indeed, anything even remotely resembling control is on the faaaar horizon, then the smart thing to do is protect yourself - less u or yours become a martyr for those bent on exploiting the argument one way or the other. These so-called 'mass shootings' are becoming normalized - they occur, the same arguments are recycled for gun control and things stay the same. The truth is, the people don't want change. Do you stop flying because there's a airline disaster? Same-same.

Pakistan? Isn't that where Osama Bin Laden was holed up - next to a military academy? -
RE: I do however think it's acceptable to blow up drug dealers.......... by extension i'd assume ur in favor of capitol punishment. I believe change is inevitable ............ the concern is the rate of change. If the rate of change is too great and no thought is given to the impact then standby for political revolution - Iran, 1979 is a prime example, a nod to the U.S., Political revolution in a Western democracy (or any democracy) is child's play given certain conditions - real or imagined. I really don't think Chairman Mao had great difficulty with his 'Cultural Revolution' ........... dare I mention NK? How about Stalin's social / military reforms of the 1930's.

July / 2025 / THE NIGHTLY / Australian News [The Australian Government has joined a global joint statement to end war in Gaza, a move Israel’s ambassador to Australia warns is “disconnected from reality”. In a statement welcomed by terrorist organisation Hamas, Australia joined 27 other countries, including Five Eyes partners the UK, New Zealand and Canada, to call for urgent end to the war in Gaza, where the suffering of civilians had “reached new depths.” “The Israeli government’s aid delivery model is dangerous, fuels instability and deprives Gazans of human dignity,” it said.] So much for the theory that they'll eat you last if you condemn Israel - Israel lives in the real world, an existential world - not the political when it comes to their very existence. Have to wonder what degree of support the good people of Australia will provide now - dare I say that this incident will harden their hearts. Ironically it is pure manna for Israel - specifically Netanyahu Suppose it should be mentioned that only a fool believes that World events will not, or could not, upset their sense of complacency.

Screw Europe, they're functionally dead
John Stone replied to paxamericana's topic in The Rest of the World
The U.S. military maintains hundreds of installations, both inside the United States and overseas The Five Eyes is made up of Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand which originally evolved from a secret World War Two alliance between British and U.S. cypher and code breaking teams. The U.S. is the global leader, by far, in the production of Military Arms - accountable for around 50 percent. The United States, for now, is the largest Global economy. ................. all of these facts are interconnected in making (having made) the U.S. a superpower. Individually or collectively they lever other Nations in politics, investment, and defense (spending) and strategy. Very few believe NATO is simply desirable in terms of defense - that would be silly. -

............ a society that despite the fact can't provide affordable childcare, is challenged in terms of housing, education, and medical. A society that has few large cities to absorb immigrants and where a province can opt out of National immigration goals - despite all this, sets an immigration annual target goal of 500k is without a doubt either stupid, incompetent or naive. Justin was not stupid .........my money is on naïve, a bleeding heart but definitely NOT a leader.

Trump objective is a new global order - a hierarchy? Countries that he deems unworthy or lesser are the bottom feeders China, US and Russia are the new order. To be successful, a wedge needs to be drawn between the U.S. and Europe ...... beginning with disbanding NATO. Close ties then can be groomed with the other two? It's in the works. Strange bedfellows indeed - the coming together of 3 ideologies(?); Communism, Fascist and Putinism.
