arguably, history will be kind to Russia ........ daresay they're going to write their own version. Clinton, Obama and the West in general failed to develop the proper deterrence - ya think?? Granted hindsight is 20/20 ........ and a lot of the blame could be put on the victim (Ukraine) for their naive approach to global politics Deterrence is a latent offence - peace thru strength. Consider a Nation with a population of 40mil, 2nd largest in the World in terms of geography that dithers over reequipping it's military and has done so for decades. Deploys 2,000 (unsupported) troops to Latvia under the Aegis of NATO and loudly proclaims that it is punching above its weight. Do Canadians even know where Latvia is located and its strategic importance - doubtful. The U.S. will demand steep concessions (likely trade) to continue the protection it provides to Canada.

I'd be interested in your opinion on the 8th Air Force and Bomber Command? Ever hear of Dresden Was strategic bombing a war crime?

Trump is honest in one respect - he telegraphs his strategy as a 'taster'. The 'thought' provokes the action. I don't even condemn him for it - fascinating scenario IMO. Keep in mind SCOTUS has given the Presidency unprecedented amnesty in their actions. Quite literally, a President could commit murder and not be held responsible. Why did they do that? Is SCOTUS really just a bunch of political hacks ............with their own future vision of the Country?

This is how it could be done. Keep in mind he wouldn't need to be elected, he could be appointed - end run around the Constitution. Putin did something similar - brilliant. For this to work Trump would be on the ticket as a running mate - top of the ticket is elected and retires for health reasons - VP takes over - all legal. Civil dissent to some degree would be expected but it would be a legitimate maneuver and endorsed by SCOTUS. Military / NG would need to aide the civil power. The other caveat is a National Emergency delaying the election - SCOTUS would need to play a part. The National emergency play would need the support of the Military or NG to control the domestic dissenters. Again SCOTUS would need to endorse any delay giving the sitting gov legitimacy. I concede that for either of these schemes to work, the sitting Presidents popularity plays a part - the National Emergency 'play' not so much tho.

The WH does not deny the comments were made by her It sounds like she is trying to distance herself from the Executive decisions. What does she suspect - or is she just trying to protect her CV, post mids if things go south. One thing for sure, she cannot be trusted. -
Indeed. The Left moved far too fast with their proposed social reforms - added to that the border, covid, wars, Biden obvious debilitation, Harris, 'I would change nothing', and as you say, just plain stupid made Trump's campaign a slam dunk. OMG - what a bunch of maroons. Trump's 3rd term is in the works - strategy should be interesting - can't wait.

Arguably, Canadas last National project was the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway - epic! Truly, Canada as we largely see it today could not have existed without it - likely the West would have indeed become the 51st State. It should also be mentioned that the person largely responsible for its construction was Sir John A. Macdonald - you know, the guy that is vilified today for promoting the cultural genocide of indigenous peoples. Our understanding of good and evil is shaped by the power structures of any given era. This power influences the environment and societal norms and shapes our views of the world and the past. As society evolves, so do our moral standards. What we see as right and wrong today might have been viewed very differently just a century ago.

If Israel never existed would Islamic States still be at war (covertly or otherwise) with the West. ..........or is Israel just a focus. One thing for sure .............. Islamic hatred for the Jews is groomed, it's generational ....... it's baked in .... there can be no peace, cataclysmic World event notwithstanding. Anyway, lets get back to the Abraham Accords and the end-run to obtain nucs.

.............. the point tho is the U.S. has sound reasons for its paranoia? -
If Ukraine falls - history will blame (2) individuals - Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Trump is correct when he says that he has been tasked with cleaning up their mess - the manner is up for discussion but the present situation is a direct result of those two's actions or inaction. That's the problem with democracy - it's inconsistent - better to punt problems for the next guy.

An armistice is the only thing that works for Ukraine - it's not defeat and they don't concede any territory. The dwell period could go on for decades of course (ala NK / SK) but it would provide some stability to Europe. Unfortunately, Russia - specifically Putin, wants geo-conquest. Whatever occurs, it is a very dangerous situation for the World. China and NK are paying close attention to the outcome and both have nuclear capability in spades The U.S. has a quasi defense pact with Taiwan with Congressional approval - Taiwan has U.S military on the island - to act as a deterrence to China. The question is, with China possessing State status and Taiwan, not ............ could it be argued by China that it is a domestic action (invasion). Of course - that is what they'd argue at the U.N. China of course also wants control of the South China Sea - like the U.S. and the Gulf of America. The rewards with the SCS are far greater tho - strategic seaway and underwater energy. South Korea on the other hand has a clear cut defense pact with the U.S. The agreement commits the two countries to provide mutual aid if either faces external armed attack - SK is indeed a State. If the U.S. continues to disengage from World affairs or gives that impression - it could easily be war. The Canadians have troops in Latvia - laughable - they can't be supported but they are NATO - basically serving the same purpose as U.S. Troops in SK and Taiwan - NATO meatballs acting as a deterrent. Trump, for better or worse, wants a new Global social order - to accomplish that, Ukraine must fall, the U.S. needs to get out of NATO and deals need to be made with both China (NK is a proxy) and Russia.
