Worked for a year in Montreal in the 90's. We worked 12 hr days Mon-Sat. You could get breakfast -3 eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for $1.99, then a great lunch at a Greek restaurant for about $5, then for supper and Sunday meals the world was your oyster. An incredible variety from around the world, all very affordable. And of course Schwartz's smoked meat! great food memories. Now I try to recreate some of those myself, with mixed results.

Is this what Trump "Flooding the Zone" means?

Trump will probably appoint them to cabinet posts, maybe at the Department of Labor's Women's Bureau. -
CBC is Revolting Garbage and Needs to GO
Barquentine replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah he should have answered this better, but he was chairman of the company and had a duty to increase profits for them. Conservatives are supposed to like that, not cherry-pick for political purposes. And Legato's pic of PP isn't helping the cause. Parents would look at that pic and say" Stay away, kids". -
More Trump and Musk cuts coming

How much did Trump just raise the debt ceiling? How much are the 4.5 Trillion tax cuts gonna cost you? Penny-wise and pound foolish. -

A lot of Americans are going to care very soon... You'll probably come back at me with a bunch of stupid insults, but sit back and watch your country implode. Seems to be what you want. -
Just listening to the Trump babbling away on tv. Is he really so stupid he doesn't know the difference in a subsidy and a trade deficit? And speaking recently about the USMCA treaty he said: “I look at some of these agreements, I’d read them at night, and I’d say, ‘Who would ever sign a thing like this?" HE DID! Un-believable!

Liberal Party Takes Lead in Polls
Barquentine replied to TreeBeard's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think the pc's will win but what if it's a slim minority? Who would enter into a coalition with them? They'd have to move to the left to stay in power. They wouldn't be toppled right away but give it a year or so... -
Liberal Party Takes Lead in Polls

Maybe it's the Pc's who need a new leader. -
You seem to be referring to Nationalist. You quoted him quoting me with my references missing.

Monday: I did my job. (Trump played golf) Tuesday: I did my job. (Trump played Golf) Wednesday: I did my job. (Trump played Golf) Thursday: I did my job. (Trump played Golf) Friday: I did my job. (Trump played Golf) then told a lot of lies and appointed some totally unqualified ass-kisser to a high paying position. That pretty well covers it.
-
Seriously? Or just showing off?
-
Sorry - The hyperbole was Nationalist's.
-
Why? It's televised - you don't have to travel anywhere to watch it. A little more hyperbole, please.

Tim Houston on X today @TimHoustonNS "I understand that the original proposed changes came out of a scan that looked to modernize the Office by looking at best practices around Canada. This scan identified a variety of practices used across the country. There was never any intention on my part to change the existing Auditor General. After discussions with the Nova Scotia Auditor General and her team, I am no longer supporting the proposed amendments. This afternoon I asked the Legislature to withdraw them. Sometimes things become something that they weren’t intended to be and I believe this is the case with the Auditor General related amendments. I have nothing but respect for the Auditor General and look forward to continuing our working relationship. This is why we’ve increased funding for that office in this year’s budget. As always, we remain focused on what is in the best interests of Nova Scotians and believe an open and accountable government is part of that." Lot of outraged people speaking up "changed his mind". Good for him. Good for us.

Read what I said. Not saying it's good, just saying that's the way it is. -

I agree - not the best way to run an economy, but it's a huge part of your budget every year and the money does create a lot of jobs and stimulate local economies. Be a lot of reps and sens complaining if factories start shutting down.
