Most of the posts on this thread assume that daily life has not changed in the past 100 years. Supposedly, daily life is exactly the same but women have won the "war". The changes in our daily lives have made this man vs. woman dynamic change. But lets not inject any cold, hard reality into this.. Someone needs to feel oppressed.

Growing up poor, a lot of folks in my family and nearby had legal issues. Consequently.. they always had a deep fear/hate of the police. They were the ones most likely to resist arrest, complain, mouth off, and so on. They always feel that they are being targeted. There is a sliver of truth to that. When you get on the law enforcement radar.. you tend to stay on it. Also, if you associate with bad company.. you stay on the radar. I, on the other hand, stayed out of trouble and therefore have no hate/dislike for the police and feel that they are under the microscope a bit too much. With any professions, there are bad apples. Police are not the exception. the only difference is that their bad apples end up on the front page and are vilified. If it was a line cook or construction laborer.. folks get mad but no need to take it to the press.

Ok, I should be clear.. First degree murder is where you have to prove premeditation. Third degree murder is basically the same as manslaughter. The details do not have to be planned.. it just has to be proven that you caused the death of someone when you had options otherwise. It is possible that judges and juries get it wrong. They are human.
-
By legal definition.. that does not quality as premeditation. Saying that you will kill someone the next time you see them...is vague. You have to have an exact time, place, and method. Strictly using approved law (prior to the death of Floyd).. this is manslaughter. Either way, Chauvin caused his death. He had options and let his emotions get the best of him.

yes, the relationship has changed but then life has changed.. Wait, no way. Technology, the internet, and increased economic fortunes have changed daily life. No longer is the battle for survival the first priority. Life is not as physically taxing.. so it only makes sense that this would have a ripple effect across society.
-
Do you have video evidence that Chauvin knew that it was George Floyd when he responded to the initial call? After he responded and came to the scene.. of course, he is going to recognize him. However, murder implies premeditation and for that to be correct.. Chauvin had to know who was involved PRIOR to taking the call from dispatch.

It is not a surprise. Cops who are convicted(rightfully or not) have a rough time in general population in jails or prisons. Criminals tend to be rather simple in their emotions and see cops as the enemy. Technicality and all but I think that he should have been convicted of manslaughter not murder. Murder implies that he planned it out.. when, where, and how. It is clear from the video that it was spontaneous.

Online chat forums are a poor representation of the greater society. Go to political chat forums and a good portion (50%) are obsessed with trans and gay sex. You ever want to know about fellatio.. talk to these types. They are supposedly your man's man but yet day after day.. they can't stop talking about fellatio. I worked at a call center and there were a lot of gay men.... they did not talk about this stuff nearly as much as these internet trolls do. Venture out into the world and you discover that most are not as obsessed as these internet trolls.

Dem Hate Speech...
impartialobserver replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Biden is not alone in his inability or lack of willingness to use accurate economic data and actually understand it. We have meetings with state leaders and we break it down for them and five minutes later.. they can't recall anything we said or they simply fabricate their own stuff. -

I was a bit too fast and furious on the keyboard. It should have been PCE (https://www.bea.gov/data/consumer-spending/main)
