  1. Just curious if you are like every other Conservative that I know who views ALL Cities universally as $hitholes. I would say that you fit that description.
  2. But is every other large city a shithole too?
  3. I steer clear because it does not interest me.. not because I am scared but that is beyond your intellect. I find you to be endlessly amusing. Getting so worked up and confronting those who obviously do not care about what you say.. and yet you keep it. You get no results and yet nothing stops you from blasting away. But back to the point.. this is a troll thread where you are hoping to "pick a fight". I am just calling it for what it is.
  4. For the fiftieth or so time.. I do not care about Covid. If you were actually smart.. you would comprehend that simple statement and move along. But it is clear that you do not. You do care what I think... again, you respond. It is clear that this is getting you worked up. Your posts show how you make this personal... hence, no objectivity.
  5. it is interesting and a bit sad how once sparsely populated places like Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and even gasp! North Dakota are filling up. Obviously plenty of open space but places like Boise, Reno, Bend, Spokane were small-ish (100K at most) and fairly behind the times. now they are growing quickly and becoming gentrified mostly due to the CA public sector retiree and all that comes with them.
  6. You do care... How do I know? you respond. If you did not care, you would not respond. Second.. set the record straight to deaf ears. You like talking to yourself a lot. Third.. your dementia is getting worse. I have stated on dozens of occasions that i do not care in the least about Covid and yet no matter the discussion.. you bring it up. That speaks to your obsession and therefore lack of objectivity.
  7. When we call someone out.. we are expecting them to comprehend this and change their ways. You can lie to yourself and that's fine but that is human nature. They do not comprehend nor do they change your ways. And no matter how many times you say what you are going to say.. their response is exactly the same. This is the definition of insanity... doing somewhere repeatedly and expecting a different result.
  8. There is a reason that most kept their online persona separate from the person that someone sees in real life. The anonymity keeps them from ever truly having to take into consideration what someone else says. You can believe me or not but I am exactly the same person on here that you would encounter in real life.
  9. so you can't refute the claim.. Typical. its quite simple. Not all cities are $hitholes and not all small towns are perfect. It is mostly case by case. A person does not change from being a terrible person to being some saint because they move from NYC to Jarbidge, NV. Humans are all flawed no matter where they call home.
  10. the gentleman appealed, it was dismissed, and a month later.. he relented and re-submitted. This time with his own name spelled correctly and the legalname (what appears on the W-2 and not what you see on the street) spelled correctly. He received his benefits. However, nothing that I said nor that of the board made any difference. I may simply not be lucky enough to see folks change their mind. I have yet to see it on a forum. The same people say the same things ad nauseum no matter how the other responds to them.
  11. So are you one of those who views all cities regardless of where as dirty $hitholes? I have been to the most remote parts of the lower 48 states and the small towns in those very remote, rural areas are not bastions of perfection.
  12. and you honestly think that if I call someone out on a forum like this, that they will genuinely change their ways? If so, you are hysterical. And you think that your long winded diatribes are read by more than 10 or 15 folks who have already made up their minds? Again, if so.. you are funny. I had a phone call with someone that lasted two hours and they just kept repeating themselves that the reason that their unemployment insurance claim was denied was that they voted for Trump. Believe it or not.. it was because they misspelled their own name and the legal name of the employer. Nothing I could say was going to change his mind. So I just put the phone on mute and went to work. After 2.5 hours.. he finally just hung up. He eventually filed an appeal and went in front of the board, his diatribe was the same. When asked why he spelled the name "Robert" in the following way, "Robrt".. he stammered and was furious. He kept going on and on about how we were conspiring against him. I find most internet forum posters to be exactly like this gentleman.
  13. Been listening to Iggy Pop a lot lately. A bit of an acquired taste but ever so influential
  14. Maybe I am just too jaded from years on forums like this and having worked for government for 9 years as of tomorrow. As soon as I pick up on someone being the garden variety, biased troll that craves affirmation, I can't take them seriously. Behind a computer screen, there is no need to change your views when you can just call them names and log off.
  15. Any discussion on being more tolerant of opposing views inevitably breaks down to Person X: You're Stupid Person Y: Nuh.. uh, you are stupid Person X: You are stupider Person Y: You are so stupid that you do not even know that is not a word Person X: You are gay and the inevitable comment concerning fellatio Person Y: Nuh.. uh, you suck ___ and blah, blah, blah.
  16. You hit the nail on the head. You can't blame someone for opting to live in or near Vancouver and therefore have options available to them that they would not have in Invermere, BC (yes, I have been there once). A lot of times we romanticize living in the remote wilderness away from everybody. And yet when you take someone to to the remote nothingness.. they are no longer so bold, brave, and enterprising.
  17. Yes, I know. He is simply putting out bait and hoping that folks will react and do so vehemently. The difference is that I know it is nothing but bait and therefore not worthy of constructive discussion.
  18. Most are too biased to admit this but even the most liberal areas were once sparsely populated and therefore very Conservative. LA was middle of nowhere prior to 1876 when the railroad was completed. The central valley and the mojave desert are not something that you would choose to venture into willingly without modern transportation. What we now call Fresno has daytime highs of 115 degrees in the summer and prior to modern civilization coming, was largely arid and treeless. However, with the advent of irrigation, the Colorado River Aqueduct, Owens Valley Project.. the place filled up and went from low cost but sparse nothingness to expensive but highly populated metros. The environmental regulations are bound to happen when you fill a once arid, desolate place with limited water with 15 to 20 million people which bring with them roads, cars, water treatment plants, power plants, power lines, etc.
  19. Some are/were but of course not everybody. If everybody had been born in Bozeman, MT (just an example).. it would have been nor would be a sleepy mid-size city.
  20. They profess to be such experts on human nature but can never explain why we voluntarily choose to not live in remote but scenic towns in Alberta or in the case of of the US.. Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho.
  21. Can you refute my very clear statement that All Conservatives view all cities (not just Toronto but every single one of them) universally as $hitholes. Now read this again... not just Toronto.
  22. My comment was not only about Toronto. It was about how most Conservatives view all cities as $hitholes. Interesting how you can't refute that but keep on responding so passionately.
  23. while logical in its premise.. economists use statistical models based on probability. Rare do we have full population data
  24. If there is a thread that epitomizes a troll thread more than this, I have never seen it.
  25. When folks talk about population growth.. they almost say it is due to the politics. They are fleeing CA only because of its liberal policies. They are moving to TX only due to its Republican majority and so on. The point is that it is mostly due to cost of living. As the population of a place goes up.. so does its cost of living. My home state, Idaho, has seen its housing costs jump considerably. What has happened.. the population growth has slowed way down. That can't be.. can it?
