Its called adjustment. The restaurants will start moving out to towards the suburbs. Folks still want restaurants.. As for efficiency, Yes it does go down a bit when you work remotely. However, what is the benefit? Less sick leave used, more quantity of work done, and folks stick around longer. We were fully remote from April 2020 to October 2021 and so have a large enough sample size to draw conclusions from.

exactly.. so if the Republican candidate has flaws which Trump has many.. they will overlook them or not acknowledge them. Democrats do the same. I have a difficult time with blind obedience. I love my current state of residence but if a politician, sports team, etc. in Nevada has flaws, I take them into account. No voting for the home team because they randomly come from the same state.

Why do we focus so much on race? Because it simplifies things for our simple minds. It boils the complexity of humans down to one simple trait. Also, it is natural to fear who you perceive as an outsider. In Reno, whites are the majority. Not all that high of a black population so when you do see one.. it sticks out. It is a simple matter of observing the outlier in a situation. Now, when I was in NYC in august 2022.. not the case at all.

So then if we agree that the practicing or devoutly religious in the USA are more likely to vote Republican.. then by default, they will vote for Trump. The straight ticket voting of most Americans keeps them from taking personal flaws into account. Their candidate is Republican but he was caught driving drunk 3 times in the last year... ok, so be it but it sure beats the alternative of voting Democrat.

Just like with "white culture"... you need to add one more descriptor such as American, Nigerian, Mexican, Latin American. etc.
-
Well... using Current Population Survey,, the correlation was .82. That's pretty high. One does not cause the other but two things can be related and be intertwined. Most Republicans are fairly Conservative socially and most practicing devout Christians are as well. If you are Conservative and Christian and have the choice to live in Sandy, UT or San Francisco. CA.. most would opt for the former due to more like-minded individuals.
-
Precisely.. no such thing as "white culture".
-
unlike you , I am proud of my decisions, achievements, children, etc and not just my race. My being white is a random item.. interesting how you always skip over that. I am proud that I grew up poor and rose up out of it. The rest of the family is mostly paycheck to paycheck types and I always wanted a more predictable, stable life than that.

I would agree that there is no explicit "white" culture.. you have to be a bit more specific and say, "American, Canadian, Dutch, Greek, Eastern European" etc.

Over/Under

From Looking at the pics of the rally.. I would bet that far less than 25000 attended. How many? I have no idea as to any exact count. Its not like this was a ticketed event or there is some database to do a count on. -
Hmmm... when you overlay counties that vote Republican with counties that show strong religious affilation.. why is there such a strong correlation? No conspiracy theories or Hollywood-esque narratives. Lets hear some down to earth reasoning. Being from the rural west.. rural counties vote Republican and are largely strongly religious.

That's why I said, "guess". You have absolutely no idea what he was thinking during or before the speech. Guess what? Neither do I. Words are subjective and there is no way to fully know someone's motivations. As to my actual point.. I think that we are going to see a shift in the overall social narrative as birth rates stay at their current level or decline. West Virginia has already made some major changes to how they operate due to depopulation.
-
My guess is that one of the motivations behind this speech is the well known reality that women are having fewer children. Going to see some changes at the macro level due to this declining birth rate and as a result.. declining population in some states (Wyoming, West Virginia) with some very close behind (Alaska, Alabama, and Mississsippi).

The Coming MAGA Crackup
impartialobserver replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Or simply being bored. When I was on another forum (liberalforum.org), I heard the exact same thing from Conservatives. Day in, day out.. the same tired line about how the world was ending if HRC was elected in 2016. Here's a hint.. go out and do something instead of spending hours whining and complaining on internet forums. -
The Coming MAGA Crackup
impartialobserver replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Precisely. The narrative of "this election is the most important ever" feels a lot like "the sky is falling" from Chicken Little. They are important. I heard the same thing during the Obama years and yet life was just about the same from day to day. -
It will be Biden vs. Trump. Why? Americans have shown a very strong tendency to prefer predictable and known over unknown. As to who else should be in their place? on the Republican side, Nikky Haley or Scott Walker (former Wisconsin Governor) would be solid choices IMO. As for the Democrats.. that is a bit dicier. Cory Booker (NJ) or current NC governor Roy Cooper would be palatable. As for AOC, VP harris, Gretchen Whitmer.. just a bit too ideological. VP Harris behind the camera is well known for being terse and very hard to work with.

Just because someone engages in a braindead act.. does not mean i should or have the right to. To be proud of something that you have no control over is hollow and meaningless. It appears that you fit this characterization. So all we need to know about you is that you are white? What you done, what you achieved, where you have been.. etc. are of no value to you yourself. All you want us to know about you is that you are white (and not of your own doing) and proud of it..

Traveling to the middle of nowhere

I am quite jealous. Have been to Canada twice; Cranbrook and Victoria BC. One of my daydreams is to experience Labrador, Eastern Quebec, and Newfoundland much like you did.
