Try THIS in a small town.
impartialobserver replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
such a waste of pixels.. I am not Canadian. This is what happens you are nothing but zealousness and passion with no intellect behind it. Its a great thing that you do not do my job. Today's task was breaking up 1190 character strings into 118 parts. When the old script broke today.. you would have blamed it on liberals... to cut to the end.. the issue was two commas in the name of two employers. -
Another blow for freedom of speech in Canada

Wrong answer.. try again. If you are so smart.. you should spot that pesky little word? -
Another blow for freedom of speech in Canada

"An Ontario court has ruled against controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson, upholding a regulatory body's order that he undergo social media training or potentially lose his licence to practice." There is one word in this that invalidates you.. care to guess what it is? -
Try THIS in a small town.

what is funny is that when you point out that rioting in Delta, UT (just as an example) would garner zero attention.. the other side can never counter that. town of 1,500 in the middle of nowhere and so if you wanted to riot, it would never make national news hence zero impact. Also, in small rural towns... folks are on virtually the same socio-economic plane. Ranching, farming, retail, and small time restaurants are not high income industries especially for the non-owners or wage earners. That is in stark contrast to major cities where the divide between rich and poor is quite wide. -
Another blow for freedom of speech in Canada

If Peterson had been arrested, fined, jailed.. then this is a freedom of speech issue. Being removed from a professional board but still fully able to express his view via virtually countless outlets.. not a free speech issue. -
So where does the crime happen in my neck of the woods? The exceedingly white 14,000 person trailer park that we call Sun Valley. 85% of all drug-related convictions (outside of LV) in the state are tied to this one area. So does it have to do with being white? No.. it has to do with poverty and lack of jobs in the nearby vicinity besides low level retail and restaurant.

ChatGPT Has Liberal Bias, Say Researchers
impartialobserver replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
ChatGPT is not going to be completely unbiased. It is created by biased humans. Now.. have ChatGPT give you information about an incredibly subjective topic (what makes someone a liberal or not) and the bias is going to be there no matter who wrote the code behind it. I use it almost every day but I am not asking such open ended questions based on subjective data. I will inquire about how to merge files that differing number of columns and how to do so with out it autofilling the blank columns with NA or NULL. -
Vikek and Truth or Consequences

Do you know another aspect of human nature that this guy is fighting? We do not like concise, succinct, objective data. Nope. We want strong, passionate, flawed, adamant, bold opinions. ESPN Radio did an experiment. For one week, their shows were centered about box scores, play calling, statistics, x's and o's. Ratings plummeted. The next week.. they flipped the script and now it was all opinions with no breaking down play calling, no analytics, and such.. what happens? Ratings went back up. I see it at my job. The more concise you get.. the more glazed over the audience becomes. Now.. spice it up with some subjective opinions (which open you up to scrutiny) and the questions come in fast and high. -
Not too terrible.. 3 games in back of the MIlwaukee Brewers for first place in the NL Central Division. still... i get the joke and thanks for playing along. I tire of talking about Trump every single day. Its not like he is any different today than he was last month or last year. Same old, inane, verbal diarrhea.

Another blow for freedom of speech in Canada
impartialobserver replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
this is not a freedom of speech issue being that he is not being arrested, fined, or such. This court is simply uphelding a ruling made by a professional board. He is still free to convey whatever speech he wants... he simply has to use other outlets. -
Starting in 2015.. every time Trump utters a word.... certain folks just have to react and do so vehemently. Every single time. I would tire of losing my cookies every time that the master of verbal diarrhea spews more nonsense. However, he is not the topic. It is those who react to him every time.. Do you not tire of repeating yourself?

Vikek and Truth or Consequences
impartialobserver replied to Nationalist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
the point is that with most folks losses hurt more than benefits feel good. We would rather avoid loss than take a risk and possibly gain. If you want someone not to gloss over and keep scrolling.. you have to make big claims and/or warn them of possible danger/loss. How probable that danger/loss is... means nothing. A probability greater than 0% gets the ears perked up (figuratively speaking). I am aware of this and so never react to a story on the first exposure. I only form opinions after reading dozens/hundreds of articles about it and have given it time to see if it is credible. -
Vikek and Truth or Consequences

If you want folks to not digest content that is sensationalist, false, cherry picked, or full of hyperbole... you have to change human nature. We are hardwired to respond quicker and more purposefully to negative events than positive. Insurance is proof of this reality. We would rather spend obscene amounts of money protecting against possible loss than using that money for possible gain. -
Vikek and Truth or Consequences
impartialobserver replied to Nationalist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
When you tell folks like this that the media is a business and that they do things in order to get click, ratings, revenue, etc.. they can just fathom that. It can't be like that... it has to be some big grand conspiracy. -
Vikek and Truth or Consequences
impartialobserver replied to Nationalist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well.. there is that aspect. However, this idea that the media is some sort of Illuminati that insidiously tries to screw us and we are powerless to stop it unless we listen to him... yeah, this is science fiction level stuff. -

I have no issue with most of what he says.. except that it is pie in the sky utopian stuff. -

I think that this candidate has quite the challenge ahead of him. Fighting core human nature is quite the task. -
