  1. Aren’t our ideas of Justice very different now? We don’t put people to death. No more slavery. Women have a vote in our democracy, as well as other “races”. We generally don’t care what happens between consenting adults. This is a very different Justice system than we had even 150 years ago. You really haven’t looked into what it means at all, have you? You think indigenous Justice is about dancing so they can drive out evil spirits? Do you have any idea how ignorant and racist that sounds?
  2. I don’t think anything has been proven in court for either case, has there? Until the trials are complete, I reserve the right to assume both are guilty and hope they go to jail simply for my amusement.
  3. Yet, you claim to know more than climatologists do when they talk about what we need to do for solutions. “Nothing can be done” says NO expert in the field.
  4. Absolutely untrue. You’ve bought into the alt-right, anti-science talking points.
  5. Disagree. The Libs would accept no compromise, and abandoned it as quickly as they promised it. If they were serious about it, they would still be attempting to implement it. There was no reason to throw out the idea completely just because it couldn’t be implemented immediately. That makes no sense. What they did do is make the reform as unpalatable as possible and then abandoned it as quickly as possible under the guise of “the NDP’s made us abandon our principles”.
  6. This is the conspiracy theorists that PP appeals to. Will Canadians put up with conspiracy theorists running government, or see the current regime as not as bad as appealing to that?
  7. That’s funny…. I think he’s a terrible PM, but for completely different reasons. I think the “embarrassing moment” gaffes are forgettable and don’t really have an impact. And the Emergencies Act was easily justified. A lack of action in climate change, his Cabinet Ministers not being held accountable, and his broken promise on electoral reform have far more negative impact than some of the minor gaffes you list. But, sadly, my list of faults still makes him more desirable than PP and his silly slogans, and pure stupidity supporting the anti-vaxxers and promoting the Bitcoin scam as a viable investment.
  8. You think @Moonbox supports Justin Trudeau? I think this shows a complete lack of (a) listening and (b) reason. Its very clear they don’t support JT, and yet you use it as an argument. Thinking PP is worse does not equal “I love JT”.
  9. Canada has “hate speech” laws and we’re very free. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than fee speech absolutism where people are free to spew hate, encouraging violence against people like Jews, gay people, etc? Absolutely yes.
  10. This has Trudeau-grievance written all over it. It’s all hyperbole. The country is not falling apart just because you don’t like the current government.
  11. So these are just grievances from folks who don’t like Trudeau, and not something inherently wrong with the country? I thought so….
  12. Do you have an article, or research on what you’re talking about? This isn’t the most coherent post.
  13. What does “unleash antifa” mean? When was the last time those people were even in the news?
  14. Is there a single thing thing in your list of grievances that should lead to the break up of the country or that can be fixed by breaking up the country?
  15. It’s not illegal to say it…. so it’s free. What you want is speech free of any consequences when you’re a dick. Unfortunately for you, there’s no such thing.
  16. So that means Canada has failed as a country and should be broken up into pieces?
  17. Very much so! Who lost everything?
  18. Who?
  19. Then why do we rank so high on the various freedom indices? The Heritage Foundation, an American rightwing think tank has Canada at #15 in the world on its Economic Freedom Index. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index_of_Economic_Freedom The UK based “Democracy Index” has us ranked #12 in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index I could go on…. Is this actually about not liking Trudeau?
  20. How do you get from “our healthcare needs improvement” to “the way to improve healthcare is to break up the country”?
  21. In nearly every measure Canada is ranked near the top of the world. In a few, it’s not. No country is at the top in every category. So, the answer to the question is that clearly Canada works as well as any nation on Earth, and better than most. The contention that breaking up the country will improve it in the categories that it’s lacking, while not harming the other categories, is a fantasy.
  22. What would the breakup of the country into smaller parts do for housing affordability? I suppose if you make it one of the worst countries in which to live, houses would be cheap! Is that your plan?
  23. Even to Iranians, this won’t be a vote grabber for PP. Putting them on a “list” might feel good, but doesn’t really have any real impacts.
  24. I see a lot of measurements based on feelings. Are there objective measures that can be used to tell whether Canada works, or if it doesn’t? i think so… Here’s a list of how Canada ranks in a number of categories To look at that and say “Canada is failing” is to deny reality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_rankings_of_Canada
