Those teachers and ministries are usually sitting on a tonne of cash. Of course they’re going to pick and choose passages that don’t say that they shouldn’t hoard wealth… These charlatans tell you not to worry… us rich people will be going to heaven, despite what Jesus said. Imagine if they told their parish to give away everything to the poor, otherwise, you’re going to hell… that church would be empty! People don’t want to hear what Jesus actually said… they want to hear that they’re going to heaven!

Is it because they love communism, or consumerism? I’d say our policies on China are so corporations can get stuff made for cheap. That seems a lot closer to laissez faire capitalism than any love of communism. Why do you think it is the love of communism? Do you think previous Conservative governments, who had the same policies, also loved communism?

I know lots about it. In that passage Jesus doesn’t say “give as much as you feel is ok”. Read it. The rich aren’t getting into heaven. I understand why apologists have decided to ignore what it says, as it’s uncomfortable to be told that you’re not getting into heaven. In particular, it’s understandable why church leaders ignore or twist this passage as these churches, and religious sects, horde wealth.

I know you think nothing can be done, but I don’t see you as a good judge of these things. Politically, things can change very quickly for the better;. ask Brazil. Canada needs to lead in this, export technology and push for change in other countries. Throwing our hands up and saying we can’t do anything would have had us continuing to have acid rain and holes in the ozone. we are a failure, and so are the countries you mention. But, rich Western nations need to lead, not snivel and whine about other countries.

Funny how you say that Christianity is believable because the martyrs suffered for their beliefs, but when shown martyrs who suffered the most extreme anyone could imagine, you just dismiss it. I am pointing out the fallacy of your reasoning. Do you think this forum exists just so you can preach your beliefs without challenge? I am guessing there are a million Christian forums you could post at that would reaffirm how wonderful your beliefs are. Try chiristiancirclejerk.com

Belief that the science is true has to be the first step in fixing the problem. Denying facts leads to bad decisions. Is that a radical concept? Do you agree with that? What if people didn’t believe that there was acid rain? Do you think the problem of acid rain would have been fixed if those charged with fixing problems denied the scientific facts?

I’ve never defended our nation’s effort on climate change. Frankly, it has been a joke. The Liberals have done absolutely nothing to address the problem. That’s why it has been a failure. Much more needs to be done. The Liberals have been no better than what the Conservatives would be, except they don’t deny that there’s a problem. They just lie about doing something about it.

Risk your life by breaking into someone's home?

So, you believe the Florida numbers have gone down. But when it’s shown that California’s has gone down nearly identically, you assume it’s some sort of conspiracy. Did I get that correct? -

So what dropped California’s murder rate by more than half for the same time period? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_California#State_statistics -

https://www.lehighvalleylive.com/news/2022/12/younger-brother-fired-gun-in-tragic-accidental-shooting-of-11-year-old-boy-in-allentown-da-says.html An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday night by his younger brother, after the family unexpectedly stopped to see relatives in Allentown, the Lehigh County district attorney announced Wednesday. District Attorney Jim Martin said the victim’s 10-year-old brother accidentally shot him with a gun owned by a relative who lived at the home in the 600 block of North Front Street in the city. Martin said the 10-year-old boy and the relative, a 24-year-old man that lives in the home, will not be prosecuted; no one has been identified by authorities. -

More often than shooting robbers, gun owners end up dead themselves. Or their family members. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/more-guns-do-not-stop-more-crimes-evidence-shows/
