you assumed I didn’t like truckers. Wrong you assume I live thousands of miles from Ottawa so…. I guess I shouldn’t have an opinion then? On the 2nd part, that’s fair. No one who lives outside of Ottawa should have an opinion. Let’s ask the residents of the neighbourhoods that were occupied for 2 weeks what they think and only go by that. Fair? I think that would be fair.

The Left is Destroying Western Civilization

In Canada, which rights came from the creator? -
What did you think? Because I really can’t tell. Your rebuttal to me saying that there’s no right to blockade several city blocks was to say: I don’t live there, when you have no idea if live there, or not. And you seem to think I don’t like truckers. Which is bizarre, because whether they were truckers or taxi drivers or IT nerds, they still have no right to blockade several city blocks for weeks at a time.

What if @Zeitgeist and his buddies were parked outside your home with trucks blasting horns 24/7, screaming obscenities, blocking your home and business, and vandalizing local businesses? I think that goes from “disagreeing” to “intimidating”…. It doesn’t even seem all that nuanced to me…. but some folks still have a hard time understanding the difference. https://www.vice.com/en/article/bvnd4v/canada-ottawa-anti-vax-trucker-convoy

If only there was a judicial review and a report about enacting the Act that would answer these questions…. What kind of tyranny is this? Why can’t Canadians have a public inquiry led by a judge to get to the bottom of this? oh wait…. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/read-the-full-transcript-of-emergencies-act-inquiry-commissioner-paul-rouleau-s-statement-1.6278743 Maybe the Emergencies Act would have been appropriate for the rail blockades as well? or, maybe there is a difference between blockading a train track versus a city? Didn’t they end up removing rail blockaders? I’m pretty sure they’re not there any longer.

Canada: A Civilised State -Really?
TreeBeard replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What, specifically, has he said? -
Would it really? A far more likely scenario would be that the inflated price for milk would be replaced by subsidies to help milk producers who can’t compete stay in business. Currently, it could be argued, that the subsidy is paid by people who choose to buy dairy. Replacing the supply management system with subsidies would mean the burden of uncompetitive milk producers is put on taxpayers in general.
-
Often people simply compare the price of milk between a Canada, with supply management, and the USA, a “free market”. To call the USA a free market in dairy is to destroy the meaning of that term completely. The massive subsidies that dairy farmers receive in the USA are always ignored by the naysayers of supply management. If you buy milk in Canada, you’re paying an additional amount due to the supply management system. In the USA, if you’re a taxpayer, you’re subsidizing dairy farmers whether you buy dairy, or not. https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/american-dairy-farmers-depend-on-government-subsidies-673374473.html

Is there any belief at all that cannot be taken on faith? Can I have faith that the sun revolves around the earth? -

Buyer, beware: FPTP is a danger to the society

Seriously though, why didn’t you pick the Australian or German model as an example? I would think Canada more closely resembles those countries. -

Assuming Canada is just a static place with static political parties and an electorate that never changes. Yeah, then I guess you’re right. -

Albertan hatred isn’t enough to control parliament. They would be a minority government, at best. However, the Libs and other parties are much more likely to form government, so the concern that Alberta could somehow control parliament is hyperbolic. -

Only once…. And only briefly.
