Are you saying that those people at Home Depot and other large companies are working below the table and aren't taxed at source? Why isn't the IRS after those companies for breaking the law?

You mean all those people who work and pay taxes but won't be able to collect social security or qualify for medicare?

Punishments vary with the severity of the crime. Illegal entry is a victimless crime, looting is not. Either way, people are entitled to due process.

I wasn't the one equating illegal entry with looting. Trump has been sending people to infamous Salvadorian prisons without any due process, some whom aren't even Salvadorian. What's the difference?

Not for BC. All those jobs are in Alberta and Washington State. BC is building pipelines to sell BC gas. Who is going to build an oil refinery? They cost between 5 and 15 billion USD depending on their size. Do you think oil companies are going to spend billions on more refineries to glut the market and get less for their product. Why do you think they closed refineries in the first place?

We used to have 4 refineries on the lower mainland but now we have one. The decision to concentrate refining in Alberta and Washington was made by the oil companies, not government. Now Parkland wants to sell out to Sunoco. Oil companies do nothing for BC.

When did I ever say none of them steal? That would be ridiculous. If they get caught stealing, prosecute and deport them.

I'm saying people who come illegally for a better life are not stealing, all they want is opportunity. Looters are just opportunists who take advantage of chaos.

They will be taxed when they are cashed in, regardless of who does it. CRA will get its share regardless.

That's what looters do.

I'm not saying these projects can't or shouldn't get done. What I am saying is that one province shouldn't have to accept almost all the environmental risk of these projects for almost no reward. That doesn't mean it should be impossible to make deals. If Alberta is getting the lion's share of revenue, they should at least accept the lion's share of correcting any environmental damage that results from it.

What are you asking? They aren't stealing anything. All they want is the same opportunities you and I have.

One thing that seems common to many MAGAT's is their total lack of empathy for anything older than a foetus.

There is no cause for violence but maybe you should ask what people are upset about.

I don't condone violence but maybe you should at least consider the cause for it as well as condemning it.

It might be worth remembering that these folks are just people like you and I. The great "crime" for most of them is to want a better life for themselves and their families. Entering the country illegally doesn't make them scum. People become addicts for many reasons that they wouldn't have chosen if life had turned out differently for them. That doesn't make them scum either.

We have an effing pipeline that gets almost a million barrels a day to tidewater. Maybe the RoC should stop preaching while doing SFA.
