Can't imagine what it must be like to be so paranoid.

Like I said, the US would be a closed economy. The US is not and cannot be self sufficient in everything. No country can

Bullshit. I always support whoever wins because I want them to do a good job for the country. That's all that really matters. I've voted for enough losers in my time not to get upset about it or take it personally. I'm not too concerned if either one of them wins. As far as an election being fixed is concerned, no party has ever made that accusation, ever. And this bullshit about pencils. FFS we have been using pencils since Christ was a cowboy regardless of who won. A Trump supporter accusing others of supporting fascism. That's rich.

He trying to do it by keeping other countries out with tariffs. They will do the same to the US.

Everyone is dependent on foreign nations for something. To become independent in electricity you will need a bunch more nuclear plants or burn a lot more fossil fuels to generate it because you don't have large amounts of hydro power to generate it. You will end up paying more because you decided to threaten your neighbour for no reason. There was never any threat to your electricity supply until Trump decided to invent one.

If your industry is protected by tariffs it has no incentive to improve and compete. This has been shown over and over again. The rest of the world will not lower itself to your level and pay more in order to buy your stuff. There was no threat to shut off electricity, it was the threat of a surcharge in response to threats made by your country to destroy our economy and annex our country to the US. A 25% surcharge was a pretty mild response compared to the threats being made by Mango Mussolini. BTW, it isn't "your electricity", it's our electricity which we sell to you because you need it.

I’m saying you wind up with backward inefficient industries because they don’t have to compete in the rest of the world. This isn’t 1952 where Europe and Japan were bombed flat, China and Germany India were still 3rd world and the US was the only game in town.

What you are talking about is a closed economy. The USSR tried that and we saw the result.

Democrats & Aliens vs. the USA.

Our birthrates are low so we rely on immigration. We benefited from European immigration during the 19th and 20th centuries but Europe is now peaceful and prosperous so there is little incentive for them to immigrate anywhere. It's not engineering as much as how the world has changed. -
Stop the world, I want to get off really isn't a realistic strategy.

Go to more biodegradable packaging where possible. Many things such as toys used to come in cardboard boxes What we can’t do by choice will have to be done by legislation. We can’t get rid of them completely because they do many essential things. Get rid of or at least reduce the non essential uses to a minimum.
