Yet again August you are going to have to enlighten me. What the hell do you mean? BQSupporter could be right. Or it could be one of the multitude of unhappy Federal civil servants in Ottawa.
-
Here are seat projections based on the EKOS results released today. CPC 131 seats LPC 88 BQ 54 NDP 35 Definitely upward movement for the Conservatives from the SES results released yesterday.

Paul Martin doesn't deserve this...
shoop replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Quoted is the biggest contradiction in your post. The Liberals are in a civil war as a direct cause of his own actions. The Martin *board* undermined Chretien for years and forced him out of office "early". Then, instead of reaching out to the Chretienites he forced them out of power and his minions badmouthed them. (Sheila Copps, John Manley, Warren Kinsella.) So Martin's pettiness and classlessness in dealing with his opponents lead to the Civil War in the Libeal Party. His faults as a leader have lead to the Civil War and are (in your words) making it difficult for him to win an election. Nobody to blame but yourself Paul... -
Harper looking good; Martin looking frazzled
shoop replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There are a lot of other examples you could have used. Your analogy leaves the impression that a CPC government will be as barbaric and brutal as the two you alluded to. I keep hearing this from the Liberals, but have yet to see any proof. Seems to me that it is not going to be all that much more expensive compared to all the Liberal promises. Are you really that brainwashed to believe *anybody* who opposes the Liberals is a sucker? -
Who knows? Better yet, who cares? What is the big deal with revealing a journailistic source?
-
Wow, you are a single-mended automaton. Enough with attack attack attack. No basis to it. Call it single-minded but a belief in his convictions is not enough to question Harper's intelligence.

Let me get this right. You are comparing the CPC to the Nazis and Mussolini's followers in WW 2? Yeah, that is a pretty fair analogy. Yet again proving my point about how desperate the Liberals are. Those comparisons are insulting and ignorant. There should be some honour in politics. People aren't *evil* just because they oppose you. That shrillness is really pathetics and hurting your electoral chances. Thanks for saying the conservative posters here aren't dumb. -
That is the sad fact with the Liberals. They have no soul, guiding ideology or true set of beliefs. It is all attack attack attack. Look at the start of this thread. A volunteer being asked not to comment on policy issues is turned into *candidates silenced*. Pretty desperate Liberals. Pretty desperate.

Argus, I disagree. I think the Liberals politics revolve around an arrogant sense of entitlement to power. The hatred and intolerance for the opposition simply flows from this god-given right to govern the country.

Conservatives true colours start to shine through...
shoop replied to Rovik's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why two threads on the same topic? This represents a "hidden agenda"? No wonder the Liberals are losing this campaign. -
So the GST cut, which definitely helps the poor is simply bad policy. The Conservatives plans to introduce their own tax package is bad, because the CBC says it is. The Liberals tax cuts will be replaced by a Conservatve package. Once the details of that package are released all the hidden agenda stuff will be disappear. Sad, sad attempt at righting the ship Liberals. This time a positive policy-driven campaign is carrying the day.

Neo-con is used in such a hurtful way, and really doesn't describe Harper. Of course, BM is exaggerating. As do most Liberals. Just the outcome of a desperate losing race. -
This semantics is forming a strange little circle that doesn't really match. Harper's hidden agenda is breaking up Canada. Evidence of his desire to break up Canada is to devolve power to the provinces. Devolution of power to the provinces is a major plank of his platform. How is this a hidden agenda again?

I will have to keep my devastatingly insightful comments to myself. Have the Liberal posters become discouraged and walked away? Who knows, but it seems like the smell of defeat isn't far off. That is for sure. -
Yeah, I forgot lack of any conviction really is as bad as it sounds.
-
ft, Your example is analagous to the national leadership question. Running a campaign gets easier the second and third time around because of the experiences you gain on prior campaigns. This is the first time Anne has faced the same opponent twice. Laurie has learned some lessons, hopefully enough but we won't know until election night. Look at how much Harper has learned about a national campaign. Is it enough? Looks like it at this point.
-
Uhhhh, yeah. You are joking ... aren't you? Not even the strongest of Martinites would say that the Conservatives *hidden agenda* is a desire to break up the country.
-
When are they going to start? Isn't this a strange time to start running a campaign based on their policies? Will anybody listen at this point? Start exploring the conservative plans. Tell the country about all the holes and hidden costs. The conservative platform itself is the means to bring it down.
-
Ahhh, the good old hidden agenda. Sorry to say it yet again, but that won't really work this time around. Canadians see the corruption that buying into the hidden agends line has created. If there truly was a hidden agenda why didn't Scott Brison or Belinda Stronach expose it when they crossed the floor? What exactly have they done to *hide* the agenda this time around?

How can the Liberals turn things around?
shoop replied to shoop's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think you will see the Liberals try and use scary scary. Completely agreed that it won't fly anymore. What will that leave the Liberals with? Not very much. Only 16 days left doesn't leave the Martin *brain trust* with lot of time to change things around when (if?) they realize that scary scary won't work. -
Eureka's posts symbolized the Martinites. Frustrated by the natural outcome of their terribly run campaign they have been reduced to name calling. Time is running out for you them. 16 more days, 16 more days, 16 more days....

Here are seat projections based on the SES Research results released today. CPC 125 seats LPC 102 BQ 53 NDP 28 Pretty close to the results based on the Leger marketing poll.

Harper-Bush, Bush-Harper?
shoop replied to The Honest Politician's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
HP, Do you honestly think the CPC is controlling the MSM? If they had the power why wouldn't they have done so in 2004? Attacking the media is the last refuge of a failing campaign. -
The Liberals have clearly lost the momentum in the election. What can they do to turn things around in this election? Has time run out on them?
-
HP, You really don't get it, do you? Attack - attack - attack against the Conservatives won't work. The Liberals can't run a negative ad campaign because the CPCs dealt with the issue pro-actively. The CPCs "they'll go negative" campaign has worked brilliantly for them. It forced the Liberals to keep the negative ads in the can for a while. Yes, they have already been shot and cut. No, the U.S. credit card company ad isn't a CPC attack ad. "Hands in my pocket..." There really isn't much the Liberals can do at this point. Harper isn't so scary anymore. Federalist Quebecois see the CPC as a viable alternative to the Liberals. I will restate my question. What can the Liberals do to save their sinking ship? Good Joke! LMAO <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
