  1. More people took public transit during the entire Inauguration day for Trump than did those who took public transit before 11am for Obama. Trump has bigger apples than Obama's grapes.
  2. Trump did well among older white (non-Hispanic) uneducated male Republicans.
  3. A perfect example of this is quantum physics, it goes against everything we understand from traditional physics. I think we would be all better off without it, none of these modern electronic devices have brought us any more happiness anyway. Nothing beats cuddling up to an old tube radio on a cold winter day.
  4. Is there still a world out there? My windows have a heavy coating of freezing rain on them and I can only make out vague shadows in the daylight.

Left coast here...still cool but the ice is all gone. Arctic Outflow is one of my most detested phrases!

  5. Dropping high-tech bombs from aircraft on residential compounds?
  6. Time to put a tariff of 1000% on US steel into Canada.
  7. I agree it is time for change, we need a credible party to step up an offer that change.
  8. True, and the warmongers on "out side" have been eating the pacifist's lunch for decades.
  9. I think you should stop trying to put words in my mouth. I am blaming Harris of the Electricity Act that lead to privatization. Yes the feed in tariffs have increased prices, but they are a very minor part of the hydro rates (around 6%). Pretending they are the reason we have high hydro costs is misleading.
  10. What the warmonger types do not understand is that there are more pacifists around on all sides than warmongers. Lack of aggression is not a show of weakness, it is a show of strength. Aggression itself is a show of weakness.
  11. The moderators are here to support the discussion, not the software. When the film stops, we need the projectionist and not the ushers. I expect the revenue generated might pay for some splicing tape but the projectionist is still a volunteer.
  12. Yes, if you laser focus on Hydro One as a single entity then you have a point, but then Hydro One didn`t exist prior to Harris. He broke up the hydro resources into many smaller units so he could sell them off. Much of the rest has already been sold off, or investment stopped so that private corporations took over the market opportunity and left the government holding the bag on old assets. You can`t however ignore all the rest and pretend it never happened.
  13. I never pegged you for someone with an ignore list. I haven`t been around MapleLeafWeb long enough to notice the changes you describe, but I have participated in discussion groups (e.g. Internet newgroups) since the late 80`s, and maybe another 5 years on private corporate ones. Certainly the emergence of on-line news has changed the dynamics of political discussions, there is a much more present participation of those who consider it a spectator sport and not a forum for real discussion. Many people wear earplugs and just shout the same slogans just to drown out the real discussion. Partisan politics have become just like team sports, and the only beneficiaries are the team/party itself. None of this is however new, only the numbers of people participating has changed.
  14. What legislation are you talking about, Eves didn't do anything w.r.t. privatization. He did shut down the coal plants, except for Lakeshore as that was Harris. Wynne was not criticizing O'Leary, she was correcting mistakes he made in his criticism of her. How can you interpret her letter as criticism, it is a response to him. His open letter however is a childish rant.
  15. About the same business when America attacks another country to get at its oil.
  16. Give me a break, every time someone from Hollywood talks about climate change the self-identified 'right' spew more hate than all the smokestacks in the world combined spewing C02. This victim card is getting tired. Trump supporters are not victims, and pretending they are is childish.
  17. The Republicans had an active campaign to boycott Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) because he appeared at the DNC. There is absolutely nothing new here.
  18. So you don't want to wait for the Parliamentary ethics commissioner to actually finish investigating?
  19. Yes, they need to get the debt down. That being said, they have been making significant progress in reducing the deficit which is the first step. I agree that privatizing hydro was a big mistake, but let us not forget that is the Mike Harris policy. Wynne failed big time in not reversing that, but continuing a failed policy is different than creating one. I think we are getting off topic here however.
  20. What business accomplishments? He overhyped his company and found a sucker to buy it at grossly inflated price. That is not accomplishment, that is being a lying used car salesman.
  21. Wynne letter was congratulatory, and correcting O'Leary statements. O'Leary letter started out calling Wynne & Trudeau incompetent, that is not tearing up that is childish ranting like Trump. O'Leary clearly showed his cards, he intends to be nothing more than populist trash.
  22. That sounds like O'Leary going after Wynne, not the other way mourned. O'Leary just proved he is nothing more than an angry populist with zero credibility. He is sucking up to Trump in his letter, sounds like he is following in the wasteland.
  23. The topic is the Canadian dollar folks.
  24. If you are a shopkeeper, and put a Make America Great again sign in your window and I decide to shop next door instead am I violating any rules? Food for thought. Your vote is private and if you choose to keep it private then good on you. Once you make your vote public, engage in promoting a cause, etc. then all is fair game.
  25. Problem solved, keep your $1000 and you don`t lose anything.
