Attack ads prevented a summer election: Harper
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yep, and they have gone both ways. Liberals are more apt to complain about them now, because they're on the losing end. -
SC governor Goes hiking.....on nude day?
Shady replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
This is all anybody really needs to know about regarding this kind of topic... The reason any conservative's failing is always major news is that it allows liberals to engage in their very favorite taunt: Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy is the only sin that really inflames them. Inasmuch as liberals have no morals, they can sit back and criticize other people for failing to meet the standards that liberals simply renounce. It's an intriguing strategy. By openly admitting to being philanderers, draft dodgers, liars, weasels and cowards, liberals avoid ever being hypocrites. God is that ever true. -

Well, when one refuses to speak out against immoral actions, then one deserves to be criticized for it. I don't think speaking out against obvious issues that any sane person would agree is wrong, and unacceptable (unwed pregnancies, adultery, drug use, etc, etc) is setting one's self up as shining examples of moral rectitude. Nope. So 1% of Republicans don't live up to proper standards everyone should live up to, and somehow that makes anyone affiliated to the party as discredited? Nonsense. Nope. Most Republicans, and most of the general populations live up to those standards. Unfortunately, sometimes certain individuals don't. That's wrong, and they're wrong, but it doesn't mean speaking out against adultery is wrong. I guess when you're affiliated with a political party which refuses to take stands on particular moral issues, even when those issues are broadly agreed to as being wrong, you never have to worry about living up to any standards. Yes, they have only themselves to blame. Nobody else. -

My how quickly you forgot about John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer. Why am I not suprised. -
Absolutely. It's definitely a revenue stream problem. When the world dips in a deep recession, revenues will be down greatly. Those revenues will grow again. But government spending is the biggest problem. Harper hasn't done a good enough job. However, that still doesn't condone a rise in the GST tax.
-
Much of the deficit exists from economic stimulus measures. It's not possible to leave "room to maneuver" for such expenditures. Again, a deficit exists not because Canadian's don't pay enough taxes. This entire premise is ridiculous. Using your logic, if we had a 30% GST rate, then we'd be even better shap then what you suggest.
-
The entire premise of this thread is laughable. As if a federal deficit exists because Canadian's don't pay enough taxes.

You can count on the fact election was fair There are grounds for being surprised at the result of the Iranian election. Even grounds for being disappointed. But there are absolutely no grounds for the cats' chorus of criticism and allegations now emanating from some quarters after the cookie crumbled the wrong way. Link When George Galloway isn't busy cozying up to dictoators in Cuba, Venezuela, terrorist governments in Gaza, and the former dictator of Iraq. He spends the rest of his time defending the Mullahs of Iran, and the psycho-President on their recent fair and democratic elections.

Try taking off your partisan-coloured glasses then. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is viewed favorably by 27%, with five percent (5%) very favorable. Forty-five percent (45%) have an unfavorable opinion of the Nevada Democrat LInk
-
Yeah, I don't really understand that, because his name was never really mentioned at all, until now. When was this? Because the list I've seen from the National Journal, has him at #14. In my opinion, someone like Tom Coburn or Jim DeMint are much more conservative. And who made the National Journal the arbiters of who's most conservative anyways? No there hasn't. Not since recently. Yep. That's when the talk of this Presidential aspirations began. When he visited Iowa in June. As long as the Republicans run somebody competent, Reid will have a tough re-election. He's going to have a lot to answer for, especially in a year, when the economy's going through a jobless recovery, and inflation begins to rise, along with continued astronomical deficits.
-
Harry "the war is lost" Reid is still going to have a tough re-election. You can count on that. And I don't think anyone thought of Ensign as a legitimate Presidential candidate. Nice guy. Good senator. However, he's definitely not Presidential material. This politico story is just manufactured drama.

LOL An empty suit, from a privileged background, with the right last name. Whatever.

Obama ratings slip.....
Shady replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Um, that's exactly what I posted. His approval rating was at 51%. Another way to put it, would be hovering at 50%. But 50% isn't approval ratings that are 'in the toilet'. -
Letterman Apologizes
Shady replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Nope. I was simply illustrating the obscene double standard when it comes to Palin and her family versus Obama's. And yet again, I've been validated. However, I'm sorry that point went completely over your head. What about it? Letterman has the right to say whatever he wants. But that doesn't mean CBS has to broadcast him, and it doesn't mean his advertisers have to advertise with him, and it doesn't mean viewers have to watch his program. It's common sense. -
Yet Another Tax Cheat Appointed By Obama
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Pick for Protocol Post Corrects Failure to File Taxes in 2 Years President Obama’s choice as chief of protocol for the State Department, a position that carries the status of an ambassadorship, did not file tax returns for 2005 and 2006, errors she corrected last November. The New York Times If only the rest of us could commit such an "error" and not file tax returns for two years in a row. Hope n change! -

Letterman Apologizes
Shady replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No, he was not referring to an unwed mother, he was referring to a child. The 14 year old was the only daughter at the Yankee game, which the joke referenced. But regardless, whether he's joking about a 14 year old, or an 18 year old, their still kids, and kids should be off-limits for political attacks/jokes. No, the only one lying in this matter is you. A solid case of Palin Derangement Syndrome. -
Obama ratings slip.....
Shady replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You're either ignorant or lying. Pick one. In a CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll taken just before the 2001 attacks, 51% of Americans said they approved of his performance LA Times Sorry my ignorant or lying friend. But a 51% approval rating isn't in the toilet. -
The basic point is that the recession of 2001 wasn't a typical postwar slump, brought on when an inflation-fighting Fed raises interest rates and easily ended by a snapback in housing and consumer spending when the Fed brings rates back down again. This was a prewar-style recession, a morning after brought on by irrational exuberance. To fight this recession the Fed needs more than a snapback; it needs soaring household spending to offset moribund business investment. And to do that, as Paul McCulley of Pimco put it, Alan Greenspan needs to create a housing bubble to replace the Nasdaq bubble. The New York Times It doesn't seem to me, like that worked out very well. But then again, I'm not an economist, let alone a Nobel prize winning economist like Mr. Krugman.

Argus, your premise is severely flawed. It sounds as though you think children are robots, who do everything their parents tell them to do. Unfortuantely that isn't the case. And despite what political affiliation parents tend to be, or if they're religious or agnostic, in any case, I find it very difficult to find parents who think it's a positive thing for their unmarried teenage daughters to have children. -
What exactly is a 'thought-monger'? Nonsense. I love Gov. Mark Sanford. He'll be a strong candidate in 2012, along with Mitt Romney. Together, both of them would be great. So does the Harold and Kumar guy. I'm not sure what you mean by 'sent packing', but yes, she went back to her home state where she's currently governor.

Nope. But it doesn't mean they should have been killed. Again, you contine to conflate two seperate issues. Nope. But it doesn't mean they should have been killed. Again, you contine to conflate two seperate issues. Nope. But it doesn't mean they should have been killed. Again, you contine to conflate two seperate issues. You abortionists are still stuck on stupid. Nope. I'm not religious. My pro-life views are based on science. I've never dismissed the idea that sometimes late term abortions are necessary. If a mother's life is in danger, then obviously certain medical procedures need to be part of the solution. Dr. Tiller preformed late term, and almost full term abortions for very specious reasons. I wish that were the case, but unfortnately it's not. As I've stated before, I understand the need for late term abortoins in certain circumstances, such as the mother's life being in danger. But unfortunately, some women have used the late term abortion service as a means of birth control. And Dr. Tiller aided in that despicable practice.
