  1. What are you still in highschool? Worrying about being popular is not nearly as important as doing the right thing. Absolute nonsense. I've heard people accurately state that Hezbollah, not Lebanon is being supported by Syria and Iran, never heard "unfairly"or Lebanon. Good. They should give more. We should give more. Anyone interested in human rights, democracy and Liberalism should give more. Don't go all logic and reason on our asses now. You're talking crazy. Yes, it's amazing how some people can ignore 60 years of history, 7 Arab armies, attack after attack. And that's before the so-called "occupied territories" by Israel.
  2. Oops, almost forgot to post this... Hezbollah was using UN post as 'shield' Ottawa Citizen The words of a Canadian United Nations observer written just days before he was killed in an Israeli bombing of a UN post in Lebanon are evidence Hezbollah was using the post as a "shield" to fire rockets into Israel, says a former UN commander in Bosnia. Those words, written in an e-mail dated just nine days ago, offer a possible explanation as to why the post -- which according to UN officials was clearly marked and known to Israeli forces -- was hit by Israel on Tuesday night, said retired Maj.-Gen. Lewis MacKenzie yesterday. The strike hit the UN observation post in the southern Lebanese village of El Khiam, killing Canadian Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener and three others serving as unarmed UN military observers in the area. Just last week, Maj. Hess-von Kruedener wrote an e-mail about his experiences after nine months in the area, words Maj.-Gen. MacKenzie said are an obvious allusion to Hezbollah tactics. "What I can tell you is this," he wrote in an e-mail to CTV dated July 18. "We have on a daily basis had numerous occasions where our position has come under direct or indirect fire from both (Israeli) artillery and aerial bombing. "The closest artillery has landed within 2 meters (sic) of our position and the closest 1000 lb aerial bomb has landed 100 meters (sic) from our patrol base. This has not been deliberate targeting, but rather due to tactical necessity." Maybe some of you Hezbollah toadies will read and learn.

  4. Rue, Unfortunately, Black Dog has slowly atrophied into what is commonly known as a troll. If you're looking for logic and reason, you'll find none. If you're looking for a legitimate discussion of ideas, you'll find none. And if you're looking for some kind of consistency, you'll definitely find none. Alas, Black Dog has become Black Troll. The transformation is complete. Don't waste your time on him, just accept him for the special person he is, and concentrate your discussion with board members who haven't fallen into the abyss of the kook-left.
  5. You guys are missing the point. Not seeing the forest for the trees, etc, etc. Incidents like these are more likely to occur when you have a terrorist group hiding behind civilians in urban areas. I'm not trying to have it both ways. You people are. I do accept that guerilla war involves hiding behind civilians. I also accept that with waging that type of war, one is dramatically increasing the chances of collateral damage. Quit whining about it.
  6. LOL, nice try. In representative governments, the general population are no leaders "people". Even though you leftist, strong-centralized government types seem to think that way. And all Canadians are your people? LOL, how so?
  7. A statement to the press? That's his first foreign affairs test? In which he failed? Too funny.
  8. Any evidence that there wasn't? What IS absolutely known, is that Hezbollah uses ambulances and trucks with the red cross symbol for the transportation. You seem to be missing the point. When you have cowardly terrorists hiding behind civilians, these types of incidents are bound to happen. You're falling for Hezbollah's pathetic tactics. Na, that's the definition of war. Like I've already stated, cowardly is using homes for missile launches, using hospitals, schools, and mosques for weapons depots, and ambulances for transportation. Hiding behind civilians is as cowardly as one can get. I'm sorry you fail to see that. I guess we'll just agree to disagree.
  9. So which is it? Are you saying this a targeted attack or a result of indiscriminate bombing? Seems to me they're two different actions. Please pick one.
  10. The fact that you refer to the Venezualan people as "his people" is disgusting. No population of any country is any leader's "people". I would be disgusted, as I'm sure all of you would be, if any Prime Minister of Canada refered to us has "his people". The fact that you use this type of language in conjunction with Chavez speaks volumns as to what Chavez is really all about.
  11. You're half right. Some people living there did indeed have some bad luck. Their government has failed them, and now, unfortunately, many civilians are paying the price. However, I wouldn't doubt that a significant portion of the Lebanese population supports Hezbollah. In which case, they're getting a real taste of just how shitty war can be. Maybe they'll reconsider just how badly they want to destroy Israel, and realize that living in peace beside their neighbour might not be such a bad life after all. I think Israel would definitely comply with UN orders and leave occupied territories. Except, this whole situation has shown what a crock "land for peace" really is. Israel leaves Lebanon six years ago, and does it lead to peace? Nope. The lands they leave end up being staging grounds for attacks. Gaza is another perfect example. I think if you could guarantee real land for peace, Israel would give up any occupied territories in a heart beat. Again, the real culprits are Hezbollah. If they didn't hide behind civilians, if they didn't use homes as launching pads for missiles, if they didn't use homes, schools, and mosques as weapons depots, if they didn't use ambulances as transport vehicles, much of this collateral damage could be avoided. But they fight as cowards, disregarding the well-being of the Lebanese people. Your anger and outrage is misplaced.
  12. Driving like a Kennedy isn't just for the rich and privileged anymore. You too can also drive like a Kennedy. Have fun! Link Correction. I should have used the word addictive, not addicting. I apologize. Right now I'm really high on vodka and sleeping medication. Sorry.
  13. Hezbollah Says Israeli Response a Surprise "The truth is _ let me say this clearly _ we didn't even expect (this) response.... that (Israel) would exploit this operation for this big war against us," said Komati Link Oops. I guessed they guessed wrong, huh. Oh well, the truth is, that he's right, the situation can and should be exploited, to disarm Hezbollah as United Nations resolution 1559 called for after Israel withdrew from Lebanon. It's about damn time.
  14. I'm not sure what polls have to do with this situation, and I could care less. I'm glad to see that one can hold true positions on issues without worrying about what the polls have to say. Sticking up ones finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing isn't real leadership. Bravo Mr. Harper! Bravo! Too funny. I could have predicted this unsubstancial response. Apparently, one cannot have an opinion similar to Mr. Harper's without being a "Bush toady". That seems to be very convenient for those with an opposing view. Well, in if that's the case, I'm hear to call those on the other side of the debate "Hezbollah toadies". All of you. Complete nonsense. This is just another example of the United Nations being an abject failure. Various U.N. resolutions have been passed requiring the terrorist group Hezbollah to disarm. Have they? Nope. Apparently some of you feel as though Israel must wait until a terrorist group, illegally existing in a country, who's primary purpose is to destroy Israel, must wait until said terrorist group is capable and/or sucessful in launching greater and greater attacks, in order to respond with "equal" force. That's idiotic. Hezbollah is not suppose to be where they are. Hezbollah is not suppose to be armed. It's Goddamn time something was done about it. Israel withdraws from Lebanon, and withdraws from Gaza, and what happens? Those lands are used as staging grounds for future attacks. How do these people think this is going ot help Israel finally withdraw from the West Bank?I'm sick of Iran and Syria using other countries and other terrorist groups as their proxies. This is the primary reason why Iran acquiring nuclear weapons is so dangerous. Sure, the Iranian "government" may not use them. But their proxies may. It's a clever little game they've got going. Well, the age of the Kennedy-Democrat is long gone. Unfortunately, the left has now become the isolationists/protectionists of the present.
  15. Really? You would vote for someone that you yourself describe as "dumb as rocks", that believe in "silly superstitions" and "ascribe to outdated, archaic, illogical supernatural belief systems"? Wow, there's that consistency again. Seriously dude, you're too funny.
  16. Nope, I fully undersand the terms hate speech and ethnocentrism. And you exemplify both very well.
  17. I didn't say they would. I simply said that the probability of using something increases when you can actually use it. It really shouldn't be a difficult concept to grasp. And your faith in mutually assured destruction is amusing to me. I think that if missile defense can help us avoid a nuclear retaliation, and the destruction of millions of people, then it's definitely something that's worth further development. North Korea is about as isolated as one can get. How further isolated would you like them to be? And the threat of retaliation is only a threat if you'd actually go through with it. Again, I'm not sure that a nuclear retaliation is the best answer to the situation. Especially not if it's possible to destroy a missile before it reaches its target. I'd rather be defending Israel then Iran.
  18. You're correct. However, it seems to me that Black Dog's position isn't just that it shouldn't be taught in public schools, it's that the practice of religion, for whatever reasons, disgusts him, and he feels it's necessary to denigrate anyone goes to church on sunday, or to synagogue or mosque. Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. However, it seems to me that your bordering awfully close to hate speech. Maybe that's just a little of the kook-left slipping out. Consider yourself forgiven.
  19. I just don't understand your need to denigrate people who happen to believe in God. Yes, Black Dog's a model of consistency.
  20. Ahh Black Dog, at it again huh? You know, billions of people believe in God, world wide. Why don't you denigrate them as well? Again, how very ethnocentric of you.
  21. Of course it does. When something doesn't work, you can't use it. When something does, you can. See the difference? There's a few, almost one in each decade. If you're that curious, do some research. Absolutely. But it doesn't mean they should be permitted. Again, I don't care why murderous, backwards, dictators seek to pursue nuclear weapons. Missile defense is the best solution to nuclear blackmail from these types of threats. I'm not sure what deterrence and containment strategies even mean. Thanks for the info. No one has said otherwise. I don't care why murderous dictators feel it's necessary to pursue nuclear technology. Self preservation? You mean the preservation of backwards, restrictive, terroristic societies? Or maybe the destruction of Israel as stated by the President of Iran.
  22. Not exactly sure what you mean. Nonsense. Check revenues. They're up. Yes, during his second term, deficits were under control. When you pursuit a strategy of pseudo-peace and pseudo-prosperity, leaving all the difficult desicions to future Administrations (terrorism, Iraq, social security, immigration, education, dependency on oil) it's amazing how well things can go, short term.
  23. Nonsense. It's actually not that large of a deficit when compared to GDP. The deficits a couple years ago, and the deficits in the 90's and 80's were much larger. Also, if you've noticed, it keeps getting smaller, and that's with the Iraq war still going, and with a President without a line-item veto.
  24. Newsflash! Another strawman! Easy. Increased nuclear arsenal combined with increased missile efficiency. It's not rocket science. Opps, actually it is! The numerous agreements they've signed over the last two decades, in which they've broken. Ahh, tho old "why do they hate us?" question. I don't care why some murderous dictator feels it's necessary to pursuit nuclear weapon technology. Yes, I agree. It is the best solution. I think it's one of the reasons why Israel and Japan have been developing their own missile defense.
  25. Um, you might want to read the entire declaration. And no, of course Osama didn't declare war on terror, he declared a war of terror. Their blood was spilled in Palestine and Iraq. The horrifying pictures of the massacre of Qana, in Lebanon are still fresh in our memory. Massacres in Tajakestan, Burma, Cashmere, Assam, Philippine, Fatani, Ogadin, Somalia, Erithria, Chechnia and in Bosnia-Herzegovina took place, massacres that send shivers in the body and shake the conscience. All of this and the world watch and hear, and not only didn't respond to these atrocities, but also with a clear conspiracy between the USA and its' allies and under the cover of the iniquitous United Nations, the dispossessed people were even prevented from obtaining arms to defend themselves. All false claims and propaganda about "Human Rights" were hammered down and exposed by the massacres that took place against the Muslims in every part of the world.
