Of course they are. Most governors have seen their popularity drop since the recession. However, 54% is still pretty popular. And she hasn't been spending time in the lower 48 running for President. Her last trip, was to New York, for an autism fundraiser. Can you believe that? Raising money for autism. What a bitch. She can run for re-election as governor of Alaska, or wait a few years and thoroughly trounce the Democrat who occupies Alaska's second senate seat.

How about instead, you back up your argument with facts instead of hearsay. So in otherwords, I'm right. And you misrepresented what the article consisted of during your previous post. I pay taxes, like the rest of pro-life supporters, for the education and care of babies and children. But again, you don't ignore scientific facts, and you don't deny human rights to human beings, based on what the level of adoption, or what kind of life they're born into. You're conflating two seperate issues, purposely. Again, I could purposely do absolutely nothing to help "breathing" children (btw, third trimester babies breath in utero), it still has nothing to do with whether society should condone the killing of almost full-term babies. You continue to setup a false choice. Preventing the killing of near full-term babies doesn't have anything to do with burdens. It has to do with right and wrong. This isn't immigration. There's no check list for someone in a government bureaucracy, checking off whether someone meets the qualifications to be born once they reach the third trimester. If a woman doesn't want to give birth, don't get pregnant, and use birth control. If that fails, make a decision before the third trimester. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Obama Actions Support Bush Legacy
Shady replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Here's even more support of the Bush legacy by the Obama Administration. Obama blocks list of visitors to White House Taking Bush's position, administration denies msnbc.com request for logs The Obama administration is fighting to block access to names of visitors to the White House, taking up the Bush administration argument that a president doesn't have to reveal who comes calling to influence policy decisions. Despite President Barack Obama's pledge to introduce a new era of transparency to Washington, and despite two rulings by a federal judge that the records are public, the Secret Service has denied msnbc.com's request for the names of all White House visitors from Jan. 20 to the present. MSNBC Hope n change! I've noticed that several former Obama supporters rarely post in the United States politics forum anymore. And I'm assuming that the last several months have been pretty disheartening, and it's probably very difficult for them to muster the energy to defend him anymore. -
Letterman Apologizes

It's good to see that he's finally doing the right thing. Even if it took a few more days then it should have. -
Not only a real leader, a real Canadian. Yankee go home!

moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where he found work at Imperial Oil, in the mail room.[5] Later, he would advance to work on the company's computer systems. He graduated in 1978, at the top of his class with a 95.7% average. He took up post-secondary studies again at the University of Calgary, where he completed a Bachelor's degree in economics. He later returned there to earn a Master's degree in economics, completed in 1993. Wikipedia

Link? There may be 22,000 children waiting to be adopted, but I bet you they're not babies. Older children are much more difficult to find families for. However, there's still a waiting list for newborn babies. So everyone remember, it's better to put your baby up for adoption then kill it. He/She will find a home. It's irrelevant. One doesn't ignore science because of a willingness or lack of a desire to adopt. Science is science, and killing a third trimester unborn baby is still killing a third trimester unborn baby. You don't deprive people of human rights based on whether someone will adopt them or not. And you don't deprive people of human rights based on what kind of life they may or may not be born into. That's barbaric.

Harper defends Obama on American television
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wow. What a worth while debate. Hmm, it's interesting that you ignore the politicization of the holocaust shooting by the ideologues on MSNBC. How convenient. I'd say it's a low point, but I think we can all agree that their low point was their collective thrill up the leg for Obama during the Presidential campaign, and pretty much every day since. If that was the case, MSNBC's ratings would be through the roof. -
Wrong. If it's medically necessary to save a woman's life, hospitals are required to do so, or face litigation. Your link from Feministe.us claims that it's a huge problem that Catholic hospitals are refusing to do so. But they don't site even one example. You'd figure if it was a huge problem, finding such examples wouldn't be difficult. In otherwords, pure propaganda.

Good. Third trimester abortions are an abomination, and should only be preformed in emergency cases, which can be accomplished at pretty much any hospital.

I like the idea of a super RRSP. You'd get a much better return for your money then with CPP. Especially people who will be retiring 10+ years from now and beyond.

Exactly. Now GM, with the backing of the federal government, has access to an infinite amount of cheap capital. Whereas Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc has to rely on it's own private means. Which means that GM can offer better incentives and lower financing options using taxpayer money, and undercut Ford's prices and options of the same kind.

Apparently it's both. Somehow this man gets away with speaking out of both sides of his mouth. On one hand, he spends more recklessly then any other President in the history of the country, and with his very next breath, has the nerve to talk about a 'pay as you go' policy. The only bright side to all of this, is that he's setting himself up to be a one term President. It'll be nice when somebody new is in the White House, and gets the government out of the banking business, and out of the car business, lowers taxes, ends depression-like tarrifs like the 'buy America' provisions, and gets America's fiscal house in order, instead of making it 10 times worse. And lets not forget. He proclaimed that passing his stimulus bill was necessary to curb unemployment from hitting 10%. Well, it's already 9.4%. What the hell happened? Then we hear that only $44 billion dollars of the nearly $800 billion dollar stimulus has been spent so far, and that the brainiacs have decided to ramp up spending now. Apparently the economic situation just wasn't dire enough a few months ago for them to have structured more spending sooner. And we also find out that most of the money won't be spent until 2010. What happened to an economic stimulus package that is timely, targeted and temporary? They've completely failed on all fronts.

Ignatieff Supports Harper's Crime Bill (C15)
Shady replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh, you don't say? Well, isn't that going to lead to more inmates? Has Ignatieff indicated how he'd pay for the excess capacity needed? Increased taxes or reduction in services? Which one? -
Tories move to eliminate faint-hope clause
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Which Ontario law? I did. You said that it was against the law for Alberta and NB to run deficits. They're running deficits this year, and project deficits next year. Once again, you make up your own facts. For what reason? Once again, you misrepresent things, and make up your own facts. This is from the very link you posted... "It's undoubtedly the case that we're going to be building new prisons in the future," he said in an interview. But that need has more to do with crumbling buildings and overall population growth than Conservative plans to lock up more people, he said Hmmm. Crumbling buildings. I wonder which Party was in power for say 12 years, and let our prision system fall behind and crumble? Hmmm. Money for democratic elections vs stolen money for liberal crime, are two very different things. I'm sorry you can't see that. I'm proven wrong by 5 people escaping from a Regina prision last year? I believe that prisioners have been escaping prisions since prisions were created. Your link didn't say anything about the escape being related to a lack of staff and/or overpopulation. I guess you're just assuming? And apparently, using your same logic. These prisioners escaped last year, because of the influx of new inmates, that may take place this year? Ooooookkkkaaaaayyyyy. -
Ignatieff Supports Harper's Crime Bill (C15)
Shady replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A deficit is quite understandable during a deep recession/mild depression. The only question is, why can't you understand that? When economic activity slows down considerably, and revenues to the government drop rapidly, there's going to be a shortfall. You're being quite disingenous and/or obtuse. Especially when a large percentage of the deficit is from economic stimulus, in which the liberal's supported. Stop playing stupid. Perhaps that's why he supports Harper's crime bill. There's no need to do either. You slow the growth of spending a little, and when the economy comes back, we'll be back in surplus. The real question, is are liberals going to let dangerous criminals back on the street instead of investing in the necessary infastructure? I think the public has a right to know. And if M.r Ignatieff has his say. The answer is no. Perhaps you'd be better suited in the NDP? -
Ignatieff Supports Harper's Crime Bill (C15)
Shady replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you're basically saying he has no spine, and no real principles. -
Dr. McHugh was allowed to examine Dr. Tiller's records by the Kansas Attorney General. PAUL MCHUGH, M.D., PSYCHIATRIST (The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine): I didn't think that those records supported the idea that these women were likely to suffer a substantial and irreversible impairment, which was required by law here in Kansas for their abortion since they were late-term abortions. They highlighted certain kinds of things, which out of context were hard, of course, to appreciate, but were sometimes of a most trivial sort from saying that, “I won't be able to go to concerts,” or “I won't be able to take part in sports,” to more serious ones such as, “I don't want to give my child up for adoption.”

To cover his ass.

I think Tiller was the only one. So probably just Kansas.

Oh, and I bet we could have built a fairly nice prision with the $200 million dollars the liberals wasted and abused via sponsorship. PIC -
Tories move to eliminate faint-hope clause
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly. It's the typical liberal revolving-door prision concept. And I'd like Dobbin to explain why, if 'all of our prisions are filled to the rafters', and 'all of our prisions are understaffed', and 'escapes seem inevitable'. then, where are all these so-called prision escapes? Or is this yet another 'fact' which in reality is only a figment of your imagination? Yes, it definitely is about public safety. That's why, if we need to build another prision, we should build another prision. And not pretend it has anything to do with deficit worries. Your pseudo-outrage is ridiculous. -
I wish. But speaking of Obama. Considering your distain for budget deficits and all, and specifically Harper's $50 billion dollar deficit. You must be extremely critical and even more angry of Obama's $2 trillion dollar deficit this year, and his projected trilliion dollar deficits for the next several years. Right?

Tories move to eliminate faint-hope clause
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hospitals aren't a jurisdiction. They're part of the Ontario government. Hmm, you may wanna re-check your 'facts'. But then again, you never let facts get in the way of your posts. N.B. government projects $285M deficit The Liberal government is prepared to live with short-term deficits and increases in net debt if it helps the economy recover from the global turmoil CBC Alberta forecasts $4.7B deficit CBC So Stephen Harper is responsible for a bridge that collapses in Quebec, before he is elected as Prime Minister? No, all of our prisions aren't 'filled to the rafters'. Please rely on facts, instead of sterotypes and urban legends. -
As they do of you. Has Harper burned his toast yet?
