For those that know anything about baseball, this loss is a Bartman level collapse. Made worse that the Leafs were 10 minutes away from giving the Bruins a similarly embarrassing collapse by coming back to force a Game 7. I'm hoping this doesn't follow this team. The main glaring need is a Top-line Centre. Bozak is a FA and he's not worth a pay-raise to remain a top-line centre. I don't know who's available but, this team is close to being something special.

Windows 8: Three Reasons to Hate
Boges replied to August1991's topic in Health, Science and Technology
From what I'm hearing, this is the OS that might kill the PC. Obviously for professional purposes the PC will live on but for pure consumers, it's already irrelevant. I have a 5 year-old PC running Vista and I have no real desire to upgrade. My phone can do most of what's needed and my out of date PC can handle the rest, granted slower. -
Their future is bright for sure. But losing that way is horrible. Worst way to lose possible IMHO.

What a horrible way to lose! They way they had been playing a 4-1 lead seemed like a lock for them to hold on, This is going to be a long off season.

Protest against the LCBO -- Liquor Control Board of Ontario
Boges replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Those are called agency stores. The overhead on a Lickbo is so high that there are some places where they just allow a grocery store to sell liquor. Of course the union opposes such stores. Good luck getting them in a community of any decent size. -
Border fee for Canadians banned by U.S. senators
Boges replied to Fletch 27's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Many US Border towns are dependent on cross-border shoppers. A tax on Canadians crossing the border would hurt their livelihood. That being said, a fee of $5 or so would hardly hurt considering you're going down there to make money in the first place. -
Bridal Shop Refuses Transgender Customer
Boges replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
So then Jacee, in your world, we should get rid of gender definitions all together. Men and women's bathrooms, changerooms and stores should be done away with all together. I don't see that ever happening but if you're being consistent with your views then all the power to you. You would see a problem with a women's only gym then right? Because if you feel you're a woman, it shouldn't matter what you look like right? You can dress like a man and still feel like you're a woman just like a "real" woman can feel comfortable dressing like a man. Unless you want someone to carry around documentation from a mental health professional that states that even though genetically you're a man, mentally you're a woman you wouldn't be able to prove, any old man is just saying they're transgendered because they're a perv. -
That figure is also wrong because the $2 Billion they want to generate is GTA, if not, province-wide. Which is why I applaud Toronto city council for rejecting the revenue tools that would affect other people in the province.

You mean Wine Racks? They're not exactly convenient, and the prices aren't as competitive as with the LCBO. Ironically the nearest Wine Rack to me located in a grocery store has an LCBO in the exact same plaza. Cheaper just to go to the LCBO. A few months back the LCBO said they would open up full LCBOs in select grocery stores, so you could get beer and liqour there too. That would be OK but still likely has the same problems we see in the LCBO. The LCBO Union has been running ads on the radio today. Talking about how they don't want Ontario to be a part-time province. The part-time workers at the LCBO make no less than $15/hour. I doubt anyone is weeping for them. -

CBC Spending Tax Dollars on A Little Black Book on Sun News
Boges replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think Lilley should be flattered the CBC spends so much time monitoring what he says. Clearly they take his treatment of them seriously. -
It'll be a huge bummer if they end up losing Game 7 tonight. No need to look for a better goalie in the offseason. Reimer has proven he's a quality starting NHL goalie. I hope MLSE makes use of this Maple Leaf Square all the time now. They recognize their ticket prices are out of the reach of the average fan so you have this gathering place for "Real Fans". If you have Leafs TV, during the game they have a live feed of the Maple Leaf Square. Looks like people are having more fun out there than in the ACC.

That's the thing the Union ignores. Sure it provides excellent jobs for a select few, but if competition was allowed there'd be lots of wealth going around. -
Yeah because The province gives nothing to Toronto. The big debate last year was whether the province would fund Subways or LRTs to Scarborough. They choose LRTs but some Scarborough councillor might lose the next election because of it so they tried to reopen the debatem

Blaming the victim I see. You could say the same people that scam people out of money through door-to-door salesmen. Should we have a live and let live world where there are no protections in place for people preying on the vulnerable? Perhaps but if we did the, CBC's Marketplace would go off the air pretty fast. They play the the innocent victim being preyed upon card up all the time. Now I'm not saying we should ban psychics. But I think we as a society should throw scorn upon people that claim they can tell who's dead or not to the point that it can affect a grieving mother's mental state. Apparently Sylvia Brown was scheduled to do a show at the Senecan Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. Not so anymore, I'm sure she'll lay low for awhile. -

A minor inconvenience to ensure a government monopoly until they threaten to strike and it becomes a major inconvenience. And tell the LCBO that you don't need to have a good time to drink. They're advertising would tell you otherwise. Honestly, if Ontario plans on selling weed (whenever it gets legalized) like it does alcohol, it's better off staying just decriminalized. -

Wine Racks have a very limited selection and have to maintain the same hours as an LCBO. What's being proposed is having an aisle in the actual grocery store where you can buy the wine and pay at the checkout. That being said, they'll be getting some huge business if the Lickbo goes on strike though. -

No, Castro is clearly an abhorrent kidnapper and rapist. I'm wondering if people think what Sylvia Brown did is immoral. Not to the level of rapist, but to the level of scam artists and snake oil salesmen. -

Boges replied to Boges's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Shouldn't the outrage be focused towards the Castro gentleman that kidnapped and raped these girls? I don't think God guarantees a life without suffering. But that's a circular philosophical discussion I don't really care to have. There's no question what Castro did is evil. My question is, do people think what Sylvia Brown did was evil? -
Protest against the LCBO -- Liquor Control Board of Ontario

Because, I didn't want to leave the house early on a Sunday just to pick up some beer. Getting in the car and stuff. Now if they sold it at Convenience store, I could have walked across the street. I actually thought the store I was going to would close at 6. Didn't occur to me it'd close at 5. Again I probably should have checked. But regardless there should have been other options. Even Wine Racks at Grocery stores have to close at 5 or 6 even though the grocery stores they are located in might stay open until 9. -

So convenience stores have to close at 11? or do they just have to stop selling at 11? And is that 7 days a week? 11 is reasonable but 5 or 6 on a Sunday is rather prudish. And I'm pretty confident a good number of people in Ontario would like it too. -

If it's being sold at a Convenience Store it is. I was in London, GB and they had this convenience store that closed a certain hour but someone was on staff that would bring anything (Alcohol included) to the door. Gas Stations sell beer and wine in America, those are open 24/7. -

My wife an I were going to go play cards at a friends on a Sunday a few weeks ago and I was embarrassed to show up empty handed because the LCBO closed at 5pm. Sure I probably should have known but would it be the end of civilization if I could go to the Daisey Mart nearby and buy a 6-pack? Every other civilized place on earth allows round the clock access to alcohol.
